Vector meson production and nucleon resonance analysis in a coupled-channel approach for energies m_N < sqrt(s) < 2 GeV I: pion-induced results and hadronic parameters
We present a nucleon resonance analysis by simultaneously considering all
pion- and photon-induced experimental data on the final states gamma N, pi N, 2
pi N, eta N, K Lambda, K Sigma, and omega N for energies from the nucleon mass
up to sqrt(s) = 2 GeV. In this analysis we find strong evidence for the
resonances P_{31}(1750), P_{13}(1900), P_{33}(1920), and D_{13}(1950). The
omega N production mechanism is dominated by large P_{11}(1710) and
P_{13}(1900) contributions. In this first part, we present the results of the
pion-induced reactions and the extracted resonance and background properties
with emphasis on the difference between global and purely hadronic fits.Comment: 54 pages, 26 figures, discussion extended, typos corrected,

Unitarity and the Bethe-Salpeter Equation
We investigate the relation between different three-dimensional reductions of
the Bethe-Salpeter equation and the analytic structure of the resultant
amplitudes in the energy plane. This correlation is studied for both the
interaction Lagrangian and the system with -, -,
and -channel pole diagrams as driving terms. We observe that the equal-time
equation, which includes some of the three-body unitarity cuts, gives the best
agreement with the Bethe-Salpeter result. This is followed by other 3-D

Optimal imaging of remote bodies using quantum detectors
We implement a general imaging method by measuring the complex degree of coherence using linear optics and photon number resolving detectors. In the absence of collective or entanglement-assisted measurements, our method is optimal over a large range of practically relevant values of the complex degree of coherence. We measure the size and position of a small distant source of pseudothermal light, and show that our method outperforms the traditional imaging method by an order of magnitude in precision. Finally, we show that a lack of photon-number resolution in the detectors has only a modest detrimental effect on measurement precision and simulate imaging using the new and traditional methods with an array of detectors, showing that the new method improves both image clarity and contrast

1.1 Summary
· Preliminary depth and thickness maps produced of Utsira Sand over its entire
subsurface extent.
· Total Utsira reservoir storage volume estimated.
· Potential storage volume in traps estimated around Sleipner.
· Preliminary map of caprock around Sleipner produced.
· Seismic amplitude anomalies mapped in caprock around Sleipner.
· Samples of caprock obtained and preliminary analysis made.
· Core from possible caprock analogue at Ekofisk examined and analysed.
· 2-D basin modelling carried out to assess major controls on the regional fluid flow
regime.
Task 1.3 Stratigraphy and structure of the Greater Sleipner Area
The reprocessed CNST82RE survey has been loaded. Interpretation of the Utsira Sand
transferred onto the reprocessed data and extended onto previously unavailable
seismic lines. Transferred reprocessed CNST82RE dataset to GEUS. Received
additional Norwegian well information from GEUS. This completed the initial

The long term effects of sports concussion on retired Australian football players: a study using Transranial Magnetic Stimulation
This study investigated corticomotor excitability and inhibition, cognitive functioning, and fine motor dexterity in retired elite and amateur Australian football (AF) players who had sustained concussions during their playing careers. Forty male AF players who played at the elite level (n=20; mean age 49.7±5.7 years) or amateur level (n=20; mean age 48.4±6.9 years), and had sustained on average 3.2 concussions 21.9 years previously, were compared with 20 healthy age-matched male controls (mean age 47.56±6.85 years). All participants completed assessments of fine dexterity, visuomotor reaction time, spatial working memory (SWM), and associative learning (AL). Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) was used to measure corticospinal excitability: stimulus-response (SR) curves and motor evoked potential (MEP) 125% of active motor threshold (aMT); and intracortical inhibition: cortical silent period (cSP), short-interval intracortical inhibition (SICI), and long-interval intracortical inhibition (LICI). Healthy participants performed better in dexterity (p=0.003), reaction (p=0.003), and movement time (p=0.037) than did both AF groups. Differences between AF groups were found in AL (p=0.027) and SWM (p=0.024). TMS measures revealed that both AF groups showed reduced cSP duration at 125% aMT (p>0.001) and differences in SR curves (p>0.001) than did healthy controls. Similarly, SICI (p=0.012) and LICI (p=0.009) were reduced in both AF groups compared with controls. Regression analyses revealed a significant contribution to differences in motor outcomes with the three measures of intracortical inhibition. The measures of inhibition differed, however, in terms of which performance measure they had a significant and unique predictive relationship with, reflecting the variety of participant concussion injuries. This study is the first to demonstrate differences in motor control and intracortical inhibition in AF players who had sustained concussions during their playing career two decades previously
Dressing the nucleon in a dispersion approach
We present a model for dressing the nucleon propagator and vertices. In the
model the use of a K-matrix approach (unitarity) and dispersion relations
(analyticity) are combined. The principal application of the model lies in
pion-nucleon scattering where we discuss effects of the dressing on the phase

The T2K ND280 Off-Axis Pi-Zero Detector
The Pi-Zero detector (P{\O}D) is one of the subdetectors that makes up the
off-axis near detector for the Tokai-to-Kamioka (T2K) long baseline neutrino
experiment. The primary goal for the P{\O}D is to measure the relevant cross
sections for neutrino interactions that generate pi-zero's, especially the
cross section for neutral current pi-zero interactions, which are one of the
dominant sources of background to the electron neutrino appearance signal in
T2K. The P{\O}D is composed of layers of plastic scintillator alternating with
water bags and brass sheets or lead sheets and is one of the first detectors to
use Multi-Pixel Photon Counters (MPPCs) on a large scale.Comment: 17 pages, submitted to NIM
Photometric Observation And Period Study of GO Cygni
Photometric observations of GO Cyg were performed during the July-October
2002, in B and V bands of Johnson system. Based on Wilson's model, the light
curve analysis were carried out to find the photometric elements of the system.
The O-C diagram which is based on new observed times of minima suggests a
