    Evaluating the role of dates compound in iron deficiency anemia in children

    Iron deficiency is by far the first cause of nutritional anemia worldwide. A large portion of iron deficiency is preventable with appropriate and timely intervention. Anemia has been a prevalent health issue in India with over 70% children. Nearly 73 million children below the age of three (79%) suffer from varying degrees of anemia. Pāṇḍu, in Āyurveda, is supposed to be the nearest co-related entity to anemia. Iron deficiency is usually the result of inadequate bioavailable dietary iron, increased iron requirement during rapid growth, and increased blood loss for any reason. If not corrected, iron deficiency leads to anemia and cognitive impairment, decreased physical capacity, and reduced immunity. The effects of anemia on children are the direst because their bodies are still developing. The management of this syndrome is supplementing elemental iron or bio-iron through food or as medicine. Elemental iron supplements have their own drawbacks as unwarranted effects like constipation, vomiting, metallic taste, non-acceptance and compliance, iron deposition in the tissues and sometimes iron toxicity. Bio-organic iron of natural origin (plant and animal origin) bypasses these symptoms, it is readily absorbed and readily bio-converted.&nbsp

    A Human-Centric Model for Sustainable Asset Management in Railway: A Case Study

    The ongoing digital transformation is changing asset management in the railway industry. Emerging digital technologies and Artificial Intelligence is expected to facilitate decision-making in management, operation, and maintenance of railway by providing an integrated data-driven and model-driven solution. An important aspect when developing decision-support solutions based on AI and digital technology is the users’ experience. User experience design process aims to create relevance, context-awareness, and meaningfulness for the end-user. In railway contexts, it is believed that applying a human-centric design model in the development of AI-based artefacts, will enhance the usability of the solution, which will have a positive impact on the decision-making processes. In this research, the applicability of such advanced technologies i.e., Virtual Reality, Mixed Reality, and AI have been reviewed for the railway asset management. To carry out this research work, literature review has been conducted related to available Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality/Mixed Reality technologies and their applications within railway industry. It has been found that these technologies are available, but not applied in railway asset management. Thus, the aim of this paper is to propose a human-centric design model for the enhancement of railway asset management using Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, and Mixed Reality technologies. The practical implication of the findings from this work will benefit in increased efficiency and effectiveness of the operation and maintenance processes in railway

    Factors that contribute to social media influence within an Internal Medicine Twitter learning community

    Extracted text; Medical societies, faculty, and trainees use Twitter to learn from and educate other social media users. These social media communities bring together individuals with various levels of experience. It is not known if experienced individuals are also the most influential members. We hypothesize that participants with the greatest experience would be the most influential members of a Twitter community. We analyzed the 2013 Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine Twitter community. We measured the number of tweets authored by each participant and the number of amplified tweets (re-tweets). We developed a multivariate linear regression model to identify any relationship to social media influence, measured by the PageRank. Faculty (from academic institutions) comprised 19% of the 132 participants in the learning community (p < 0.0001). Faculty authored 49% of all 867 tweets (p < 0.0001). Their tweets were the most likely to be amplified (52%, p < 0.01). Faculty had the greatest influence amongst all participants (mean 1.99, p < 0.0001). Being a faculty member had no predictive effect on influence (ß = 0.068, p = 0.6). The only factors that predicted influence (higher PageRank) were the number of tweets authored (p < 0.0001) and number of tweets amplified (p < 0.0001) The status of “faculty member” did not confer a greater influence. Any participant who was able to author the greatest number of tweets or have more of his/her tweets amplified could wield a greater influence on the participants, regardless of his/her authority
