Quantitative representation of reactivity, selectivity and site activation concepts in organic chemistry

Indexación: ScieloReactivity, selectivity and site activation are classical concepts in chemistry which are amenable to quantitative representation, in terms of static global, local and non local density response functions. The use of these electronic indexes describing chemical interconversion is developed in this work along the perspective of the pioneering work conducted in Chile by the late Professor Fernando Zuloaga, to whom this article is dedicated in memoriam. While global responses, represented as derivatives of the electronic energy with respect to the total number of electrons quantitatively describe the propensity of a system to interconvert into another chemical species (chemical reactivity), the local counterparts assesses well those regions in the molecule where the reactivity pattern dictated by the global quantities is developed (selectivity). Site activation /deactivation may in turn be described by the variations in the local or regional patterns of reactivity, that may be induced by solvent effects or chemical substitution. These concepts are illustrated for a series of chemical reactions in Organic Chemistry, including electrocyclic processes, cycloadditions and electrophilic addition reactions. Applications of the Conceptual Density Functional Theory Indices to Organic Chemistry Reactivity

Viability study of sailing propulsion combined with a conventional system

For many years now, sails have been used as a propulsion system. At present, they are restricted to recreational/sport crafts since the appearance of the first steam vessels in the beginning of the 19 th century. But in the last years, due to the increase of fuel price and the pollution of the environment, it is being studied the possibility to introduce again the sail as a propulsive method combined with other conventional systems. In this paper, it is studied the viability of using a sail as a propellant with other conventional systems of propulsion. After considering the concept of apparent wind, the range of use of this complementary propulsion is presented. The calculation methodology, the numerical simulations and the wind inputs from a specific route are also included

Neuropathological events in an animal model resembling human fetal post-hemorrhagic hydrocephalus

Introduction: In premature newborns, intraventricular hemorrhages (IVH) probably trigger the disruption of the neurogenic ventricular zone. Most of the cases with severe IVH develop post-hemorrhagic hydrocephalus (PHH). A mouse model with IVH has been developed to research into the common neuropathological events present in PHH and into possible therapies. Methods: In two-day-old mice, the blood serum from littermates was injected into the ganglionic eminence of one hemisphere or both hemispheres. Fourteen days later, a histopathological analysis was carried out. In the case of injection in one hemisphere, the effects were compared with the contralateral non-injected hemisphere. Results: Mice with IVH developed the following neuropathological effects. The ependyma was found denuded and replaced by reactive astrocytes. A reaction of astrocytes over-expressing aquaporin-4 and of NG2 cells was also found developed in the white matter. Alterations in the neurogenesis were also common in the ventricular zone and in the white matter. Conclusions: The animal model of IVH developed shows similar neuropathological events to other forms of congenital hydrocephalus and can be used to research into therapies for PHH.Universidad de Málaga. Relación entre " work engagement" y la salud de los profesionales de enfermería. Revisión bibliográfica sistemática

El work engagement (WE) es un concepto surgido de la psicología ocupacional y estudia al individuo en su entorno laboral. Se trata del nivel de compromiso que tiene éste con su trabajo desde un punto de vista positivo. El profesional de enfermería se encuentra en ambientes muy cambiantes y con mucha responsabilidad y trabajo. Esto puede variar las condiciones laborales y afectar al individuo en el desarrollo de su actividad. La ocupación laboral es una parte fundamental en la vida de las personas. Es importante conocer en qué medida afecta a la salud y si existen determinantes como el WE que puede contribuir positivamente. El objetivo de esta revisión bibliográfica es recopilar información sobre estudios que asocien el estado de salud de los profesionales de enfermería con los niveles de WE. Para llevar a cabo este trabajo, se ha procedido a la realización de una revisión bibliográfica sistemática sobre la literatura publicada sobre este tema en los últimos 5 años. Para ello se han las siguientes bases de datos electrónicas de búsqueda: WOS, Pubmed y Scopus. El análisis cualitativo de los datos de los trabajos utilizados en la revisión, también sometidos a una evaluación crítica según la declaración de STROBE, parece establecer una relación del estado de salud de los profesionales de enfermería con el WE, y se examinan otras relaciones que provocan cambios en él. Se sugiere realizar más estudios sobre el tema, al igual que implementar programas de carácter preventivo. Finalmente se proponen futuras líneas de investigación.OtroGrado en Enfermerí

Aprendizaje del inglés a través del juego en Educación Primaria

El juego, según, es una actividad natural que no precisa de un aprendizaje previo y que proviene de nuestro propio instinto (Meneses y Monge, 2001). El juego es necesario y vital para los estudiantes. El principal objetivo es conocer como aprenden los escolares una segunda lengua utilizando el juego como método de aprendizaje. Han participado 16 estudiantes de primero de educación primaria de un colegio público de la provincia de Zaragoza. Se ha realizado una unidad didáctica adaptada al objetivo que se pretende conseguir y ajustada a la edad de los estudiantes. Los resultados indican que los estudiantes han disfrutado del proceso de aprendizaje durante la intervención. Se ha conseguido un aprendizaje lúdico y se ha reducido la enseñanza de la lengua inglesa a través del método memorístico tradicional al que se están acostumbrados. También se quiere lograr que los estudiantes sean los protagonistas de su propio aprendizaje.Grado en Educación Primari
