Target space duality and moduli stabilization in String Gas Cosmology
Motivated by string gas cosmology, we investigate the stability of moduli
fields coming from compactifications of string gas on torus with background
flux. It was previously claimed that moduli are stabilized only at a single
fixed point in moduli space, a self-dual point of T-duality with vanishing
flux. Here, we show that there exist other stable fixed points on moduli space
with non-vanishing flux. We also discuss the more general target space

An Assessment of Accessibility and Connectivity of Some Important Places in Kolhapur City of Maharashtra: A Road Network Analysis
There are various methods to find out the accessibility and connectivity of road networks. The method that used to determine the accessibility and connectivity is quantitative or qualitative; sometime it includes both quantitative and qualitative aspects of transportation network. The degree to which any place is served by transportation network (on which it stands) defines the accessibility of that place. And the connectivity is the ratio between total number of arcs and total number of nodes in transportation network. The connectivity is directly proportional to the total number of arcs and inversely proportional to the total number of nodes. If the degree of connectivity within a transportation network is higher; then it means that transportation system will be more efficient. Therefore, the present paper attempts to access the accessibility and connectivity of road networks in Kolhapur city. The accessibility of study area is determined by the shortest path matrix. The connectivity is determined by the beta (?) index given by K.J. Kansky. After analyzing the accessibility and connectivity of study area, easily accessible and shortest paths are also suggested in order to reach the important centers very easily
The Cosmology of Massless String Modes
We consider the spacetime dynamics of a gas of closed strings in the context
of General Relativity in a background of arbitrary spatial dimensions. Our
motivation is primarily late time String Gas Cosmology, where such a spacetime
picture has to emerge after the dilaton has stabilized. We find that after
accounting for the thermodynamics of a gas of strings, only string modes which
are massless at the self-dual radius are relevant, and that they lead to a
dynamics which is qualitatively different from that induced by the modes
usually considered in the literature. In the context of an ansatz with three
large spatial dimensions and an arbitrary number of small extra dimensions, we
obtain isotropic stabilization of these extra dimensions at the self-dual
radius. This stabilization occurs for fixed dilaton, and is induced by the
special string states we focus on. The three large dimensions undergo a regular
Friedmann-Robertson-Walker expansion. We also show that this framework for
late-time cosmology is consistent with observational bounds.Comment: 15 pages, no figures, references added (again
Vibrating Winding Branes, Wrapping Democracy and Stabilization of Extra Dimensions in Dilaton Gravity
We show that, in the context of dilaton gravity, a recently proposed
democratic principle for intersection possibilities of branes winding around
extra dimensions yield stabilization, even with the inclusion of momentum modes
of the wrapped branes on top of the winding modes. The constraints for
stabilization massaged by string theory inputs forces the number of observed
dimensions to be three. We also discuss consequences of adding ordinary matter

Two phase detonation studies
An experimental study of the passage of a shock wave over a burning fuel drop is described. This includes high speed framing photographs of the interaction taken at 500,000 frames per second. A theoretical prediction of the ignition of a fuel drop by a shock wave is presented and the results compared with earlier experimental work. Experimental attempts to generate a detonation in a liquid fuel drop (kerosene)-liquid oxidizer drop (hydrogen peroxide)-inert gas-environment are described. An appendix is included which gives the analytical prediction of power requirements for the drop generator to produce certain size drops at a certain mass rate. A bibliography is also included which lists all of the publications resulting from this research grant
EVALUATION OF IN VIVO IMMUNOMODULATORY ACTIVITY OF AQUEOUS AND ETHANOLIC EXTRACT OF EULOPHIA NUDA L.
Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the in vivo immunomodulatory activity of an aqueous and ethanolic extract of dried tubers of Eulophia nuda (ENA and ENE).Methods: Effect of both the extracts was evaluated on delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) response, serum antibody response, and cyclophosphamide-induced myelosuppression in Swiss albino mice.Results: The extracts showed stimulation of DTH reaction in mice in response to T-cell dependent antigen by both ENE () and ENA (); significant increase in serum antibody titer at of ENA (768.01) and ENE (768.33) extract at 200 mg/kg, compared to control group (213.33); Combined treatment of ENA+Cytochromes P450 [CYP]-25 mg/kg and ENE+CYP-25mg/kg (50, 100, and 200 mg/kg) doses of ENA and ENE each with 25 mg/kg resulted in restoration of bone marrow activity as compared with CYP treatment alone.Conclusion: Both specific and non-specific immunostimulating properties of the ENE and ENA tubers in in vivo experimental methods suggest its therapeutic usefulness in immunocompromised conditions

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the in vitro immunomodulatory activity of aqueous and ethanolic extract of dried tubers of Eulophia nuda.Methods: Effect of both the extracts was evaluated at various concentrations (832–6.5 μg/ml) for secretion of mediators such as nitric oxide (NO), superoxide, lysosomal enzyme, and myeloperoxidase activity of isolated murine peritoneal macrophages.Results: The extracts showed stimulation of NO, statistically significant at 832 μg/ml (SI 1.739) for ENA and at 832 μg/ml (stimulation index [SI] 1.662) for ENE; significant stimulation on lysosomal enzyme release for ENA at 832 μg/ml (SI 1.404) and ENE at 832 μg/ml (SI 1.513); myeloperoxidase activity was statistically significant for ENA at 832 μg/ml (SI 1.728) and ENE at 832 μg/ml (SI 1.770).Conclusion: In vitro phagocytic index showed significant results and thus proving the need for confirmation through in vivo studies
