An isocratic reversed-phase liquid chromatograpic assay method was developed for the quantitative determination of fenofibrate and rosuvastatin calcium in bulk and tablet dosage form. A Lichrosphere Select-B C8 (250x4.6mm & 5.0μm) column with a mobile phase containing Solution A (Milli-Q water has pH3.0 made by orthophosphoric acid): Methanol (20:80). The flow rate was 1.0 mL min−1: 1.5 ml/min and the detection of fenofibrate and rosuvastatin calcium was carried out on absorbance detector at 254nm.The retention times was 12 min (rosuvastatin- 3.40, fenofibrate-7.75). A linear response r2 > 1.0 for fenofibrate in the range of 40- 300μg/ml and r2 > 0.9997 in the range of 2.8-21μg/ml for rosuvastatin calcium was observed. The proposed method was validated with respect to system suitability, specificity and selectivity, stability of analytical solutions linearity, accuracy, precision, and robustness. The method was successfully applied to the estimation of fenofibrate and rosuvastatin calcium in bulk and tablet dosage form. Keywords: RP-HPLC, fenofibrate, rosuvastatin calcium, Validatio

Background: Maternal near miss is said to have occurred when women presented with life threatening complication during pregnancy, childbirth and within 42 days after delivery, but survive by chance or good institutional care. For identifying near miss cases five factor scoring system was used. In 2009 WHO working group has standardized the criteria for these cases. Methods: The study was a descriptive study done for the period of 18 months between 1st June 2021 to 31st December 2022 conducted in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Bundelkhand Medical College Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, India, which is a tertiary care centre. For each cases of near miss, data were collected on demographic characteristics including gestational age at the time of sustaining the near morbidity, nature of obstetric complications, presence of organ dysfunction/failure, ICU admission and timing of near miss event with respect to admission. Results: A total numbers of 12252 live births were, 28 maternal deaths and 372 MNM cases were reported during the study period. Incidence of MNM was 30.3 %. In present study mortality index is 0.07. Maternal near miss to mortality ratio is 13.2:1. Hypertensive disorder of pregnancy 44.4% were most common cause of MNM followed by severe anemia 23% cases. Conclusions: Critical analysis of MNM cases will help us in identifying the deficiencies in obstetric care. Maternal mortality and morbidity can be reduced if timely and effective care can be given to women experiencing acute pregnancy related complications .There is need for validation of MNM criteria at peripheral level which will enable them in early identification and timely referral of such cases to tertiary centers

Background: Intertrochanteric fractures are disabling injuries in elderly population and they are the most frequently operated fracture type which has the highest postoperative fatality rate of all surgically treated fractures. The objective of the study was to evaluate the functional outcomes of intertrochanteric fractures treated with proximal femoral nail (PFN) in elderly patients. Methods: A retrospective study of 24 patients, all above 60 years treated with PFN between March 2016 to April 2018. Data collected include age, sex, mechanism of injury, type of fracture pattern according to Boyd and Griffin’s classification. Patients were followed up at intervals of 6, 12, 18 and 24 weeks and final results were evaluated using Kyle’s criteria at the end of 24th week. All patients had a minimum follow up of one year. Results: The study included 24 patients, 10 males, 14 females with mean age of 75.77 years (range: 60-82 years). The fracture union rate was 96% and average union time was 14.2 weeks. Our results were excellent (80%), good (8%), fair (8%) and poor (4%). Our complications include thigh pain (20%) shortening (20%), varus displacement (8%), knee and hip stiffness (8%), z effect (4%) and non-union (4%).Conclusions: PFN is a reliable fixation in intertrochanteric fractures only after good intraoperative reduction leading to high rate of bone union and with reduced rate of implant failure or complications

Background: A Barton’s fracture is a compression injury with a marginal shearing fracture of the distal radius. Conservative management of these fractures are highly unsuccessful with multiple complications. Locked plate and screw systems acts as single unit for fracture fixation, allows early mobilisation with good functional recovery. The objective of the study is to evaluate the functional and radiological outcome of volar Barton’s fractures treated with polyaxial locking plates. Methods: Thirty six patients with volar Barton’s fractures, who underwent surgical treatment with polyaxial locking plate between June 2014 to June 2018, with a minimum one year of follow up. The fractures were classified according to Mehara’s classification and the outcome was evaluated using Pattee and Thompson criteria for outcome of wrist. Results: We achieved 100 % union in all patients. Our results were excellent (61%), good (28%) and fair (11%). Our complications include superficial infection, finger stiffness, radiocarpal arthritis, extensor tendon rupture and Sudeck’s osteodystrophy. Conclusions: Polyaxial locking plates restore articular congruity of the volar Barton’s fracturess and give best possible results with least complication rates, provided the technique is carefully performed

Development of Nano SiO2 Particles Dispersed Shape Memory Epoxy Composites

    Get PDF
Thermo responsive shape memory epoxy based composites are being investigated for their excellent mechanical and thermal properties. In present study the thermosetting epoxy containing different composition of SiO2 nano particles ranging from 1 to 4 wt. % have been prepared through solvent casting route. Developed composites have been studied for grain analysis, FTIR, shape recovery, impact strength and hardness. Addition of 3 wt. % SiO2 improves hardness and impact strength significantly. Average grain size of SiO2 particles increase at higher wt. % of SiO2 in polymer matrix due to agglomeration of nanoparticles

Gas Under Right Hemidiaphragm: A Rare Presentation of Unruptured Liver Abscess

    Get PDF
A perforated liver abscess mimics hollow viscus perforations. It may be accompanied by pneumoperitoneum and peritonitis. A hollow viscus perforation appears to be the most common cause of gas under diaphragm. In about 10% of the cases, it can be due to rare abdominal and extra-abdominal causes. One of the causes could be intra-abdominal infection caused by gas-forming organisms. We are reporting a rare case of pneumoperitoneum resulting from an unruptured liver abscess in an old male with no comorbidity. An unruptured pyogenic right lobe liver abscess in a 70-year-old male was accompanied by X-ray flat plate abdomen features suggestive of free gas under the right hemidiaphragm. Culture of the pus drained from liver abscess grew Klebsiella sensitive to piperacillin and tazobactam, and antibiotic treatment was administered

    Get PDF
Purpose: This research examines Indian service managers' perceptions on the impact of convergent technologies (CTs) on their work and resultant organisational performance. The research uses four dimensions - task productivity, task innovation, customer satisfaction, and management control - taken together, to investigate the perceived impact of CTs adoption in service organisations context and further examines the resultant organisational performance, based on these dimensions. Design/methodology/approach: The study used the Partial least squares (PLS) approach to evaluate the measurement model and the structural model. The study was conducted in service industry firms that have made significant progress towards adopting CTs. Findings: The results of the study demonstrated higher levels of perceived impact of the adoption of CTs on all the four dimensions (i.e., task productivity, task innovation, customer satisfaction, and management control). The results of the study also indicate that all the impact dimensions positively influence organisational performance. Originality: To researchers best knowledge this is the first study of its kind to evaluate the perceived impact of CTs on organisational performance in the Indian context Research limitations/implications: The results of the study suggest that all the impact dimensions positively influence the organisation; therefore the service sector managers should be aware about the role of adopting latest CTs so as to enhance the task productivity, innovation, customer satisfaction and management control in their job roles. Practical implications: The practical implications of this research are derived on the basis of Future of Work , Labour Market Information Systems, Productivity, Enterprise Development, Enhancing skills of service employees and Employability themes
