    A Survey of Team Teaching Effectiveness in Executive Graduate Business Programs

    This paper contributes to the academic literature by using a survey instrument of executive students to assess the effectiveness of team teaching in a multidisciplinary Executive MBA management program and an Executive Master’s program in Finance. The cohort structure of the program and the virtual similarities between the two programs allows for a unique way of addressing this issue. The results of the survey show that the multidisciplinary EMBA program was more effective in fostering an integrated team teaching approach. The results also suggest that there is a transition process in incorporating the team teaching approach in new programs as evidenced by the results in the Executive Master’s Program in Finance

    Angular Momentum Transport by MHD Turbulence in Accretion Disks: Gas Pressure Dependence of the Saturation Level of the Magnetorotational Instability

    The saturation level of the magnetorotational instability (MRI) is investigated using three-dimensional MHD simulations. The shearing box approximation is adopted and the vertical component of gravity is ignored, so that the evolution of the MRI is followed in a small local part of the disk. We focus on the dependence of the saturation level of the stress on the gas pressure, which is a key assumption in the standard alpha disk model. From our numerical experiments it is found that there is a weak power-law relation between the saturation level of the Maxwell stress and the gas pressure in the nonlinear regime; the higher the gas pressure, the larger the stress. Although the power-law index depends slightly on the initial field geometry, the relationship between stress and gas pressure is independent of the initial field strength, and is unaffected by Ohmic dissipation if the magnetic Reynolds number is at least 10. The relationship is the same in adiabatic calculations, where pressure increases over time, and nearly-isothermal calculations, where pressure varies little with time. Our numerical results are qualitatively consistent with an idea that the saturation level of the MRI is determined by a balance between the growth of the MRI and the dissipation of the field through reconnection.     Temperature-dependent Hall scattering factor and drift mobility in remotely doped Si:B/SiGe/Si heterostructures

    Hall-and-Strip measurements on modulation-doped SiGe heterostructures and combined Hall and capacitance–voltage measurements on metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS)-gated enhancement mode structures have been used to deduce Hall scattering factors, rH, in the Si1 – xGex two-dimensional hole gas. At 300 K, rH was found to be equal to 0.4 for x = 0.2 and x = 0.3. Knowing rH, it is possible to calculate the 300 K drift mobilities in the modulation-doped structures which are found to be 400 cm2 V – 1 s – 1 at a carrier density of 3.3 × 1011 cm – 2 for x = 0.2 and 300 cm2 V – 1 s – 1 at 6.3 × 1011 cm – 2 for x = 0.3, factors of between 1.5 and 2.0 greater than a Si pMOS control

    EMI can often be reduced by selectively filtering various parts of a given system. One common method employed by designers is to split the groundplane near the chassis and route I/O lines over the split. The rationale is based on providing a large series impedance to common-mode currents on the I/O lines. In this manner, PCB designers hope to lower the level of noise currents contributing to radiation.     Genomic stability refers to an organism’s ability to maintain and pass forward its genetic information. There are a raft of proteins and pathways whose sole purpose is maintaining this stability through swiftly replicating DNA as well as accurately repairing damage caused through contact with endogenous and exogenous DNA damaging elements. This study will focus on the structural aspects of two proteins that play a part in different areas of genome maintenance. Flap Endonuclease 1 (FEN 1) works in DNA replication, where it is tasked with removing a small RNA flap that is created during Okazaki fragment formation. This flap removal is essential to mature these fragments into one continuous strand of nascent DNA. Using the archeon Pyrococcus abyssi (Pab) as a model system has the advantage of possessing simple replicative machinery, whilst bearing striking similarities with the human system. Pab is a hyperthermophilic, piezophile meaning it thrives in conditions of high temperature and pressure. DNA-dependent protein kinase (DNA-PK) is a holoenzyme that plays a role in the Non Homologous End Joining (NHEJ) pathway by repairing DNA double strand breaks (DSB’s). In cancer therapy, a patient is exposed to DNA damaging elements, leading to an ever-increasing population of DSBs. If an inhibitor of DNA-PKcs were introduced along with this therapy it could potentiate its effect, as the cancerous cells will be less able to repair the damage. The aim of this part of the study is to determine a protocol to generate pure, soluble, correctly folded protein for the purposes of biophysical characterisation and X-ray crystallographic structural studies

    In this study, cow/calf Standardized Performance Analysis (SPA) data for Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico are used to analyze how total cost, production, and profitability are affected by management choices. Total cost is the financial cost associated with raising a calf through the weaning stage; profits are measured using the rate of return on assets; production is determined by pounds weaned per exposed female. Variables such as herd size, pounds of feed fed, calving percentage, death loss, length of breeding season and investment in asset groups are used in regressions.
