    Comparison of Upper Limb Proprioception in Chronic Mechanical Neck Pain Patients with Age-Sex Matched Healthy Normals

    Purpose: Primarily to compare the Upper Limb Proprioception in Chronic Mechanical Neck Pain Patients to Age - Sex Matched Normals. Method: 30 women, 19- 30 years of age were assessed via a digital inclinometer for repositioning error for shoulder, elbow and wrist joints. Results: It was found that there was a difference in upper Limb Proprioception in Chronic Mechanical Neck Pain patients as compared to age sex matched normal individuals. Conclusion: On comparison, individuals with Chronic Mechanical Neck Pain had a statistically significant difference in the shoulder and wrist proprioception as compared to age matched Normals

    Right ectopic gestation following in vitro fertilisation: case report

    The management of ectopic gestation has in recent years transformed from the normally accepted laparotomy to the laparoscopic approach. The objective of this case report is to describe a rare occurrence of an ectopic gestation following in vitro fertilisation procedure.A 35-year-old para 0 + 0, presented with lower abdominal pain and per vaginal bleeding six weeks after an in vitro fertilisation was done in South Africa. The patient was admitted with severe lower abdominal pain and per vaginal bleeding at six weeks gestation following an in vitro fertilisation procedure. She had undergone an evacuation one-week prior to this episode due to an initial diagnosis of an incomplete abortion. No chorionic villi were reported on histology. The repeat serum BhCG was 777mip/l and at laparoscopy a right unruptured ampullary ectopic gestation (4 ems in size) was evident. A right linear salpingostomy was subsequently performed laparoscopically.Histology confirmed the presence of tubal chorionic villi. The laparoscopic management of ectopic pregnancies is now regarded as the gold standard in many centres in the world. In this patient the ectopic pregnancy resulted following an intra-uterine zygote transfer, and was managed successfully

    Heterotopic pregnancy in an assisted reproduction conception; case report and literature review

    Infertility management by assisted reproduction techniques has had rapid increase. While there is robust evidence supporting the efficacy and safety of assisted reproduction technique (ART), complications are encountered. Heterotopic pregnancy, defined as the presence of both an intrauterine and an ectopic gestation, is a rare eventuality of early pregnancy. A 42 years old patient (Para 0+1) with a diagnosis of secondary infertility is presented; she had In Vitro fertilization (IVF) with egg donation. Two weeks after the IVF, a positive serum Beta Human Chorionic Gonadotropin confirmed the pregnancy and she continued with intake of progestins for luteal phase support. At 7 weeks gestation she presented at a local hospital with acute pelvic pain. A diagnosis of heterotopic pregnancy was made after transvaginal showed right slow leaking ectopic pregnancy andintrauterine missed abortion. Laparoscopic surgery, right salpingectomy and manual vacuum aspiration were performed with good subsequent recovery.     Successful pregnancy outcome following laparoscopic myomectomy: case report

    Laparoscopic myomectomy is now widely used as an alternative to laparotomy in the management of symptomatic uterine fibroids. The advantages of this minimal access approach outweigh those of the open techniques. The pregnancy outcomes between the two methods have been studied and are comparable, but there still exists a lot of scepticism locally concerning this. It is against this background that we present a 31 year old nulliparous lady who had a two year history of primary infertility secondary to multiple uterine fibroids, the largest being fundal and measuring 6.6cm. She underwent a successful laparoscopic myomectomy in November, 2006 and conceived spontaneously in February 2007. Her antenatal follow up was uneventful. She delivered a live male, 2,650 grams by Caesarean section in October, 2007 and had an unremarkable peuperium. With the availability of proper equipment, instruments, and adequately developing skills, laparoscopic myomectomy is feasible locally and with proper patient selection could result in favourable outcome as it is elsewhere

    Role of neutron transfer in the reaction mechanism of 9^9Be+169^{169}Tm, 181^{181}Ta, 187^{187}Re and 197^{197}Au systems

    The contribution of one neutron stripping cross section to the total reaction cross section has been studied for 9^9Be projectile incident on 169^{169}Tm, 181^{181}Ta, 187^{187}Re and 197^{197}Au targets around Coulomb barrier energy. The measured one neutron stripping cross sections for these systems have been compared with the coupled channel calculations. The recently developed global set of optical model potential parameters for 9^9Be projectile has been used in the present calculations. The cumulative of measured complete fusion (CF), incomplete fusion (ICF), one neutron stripping and calculated non-capture breakup (NCBU) cross sections is found to explain almost the reaction cross sections for all the targets. A very small contribution from target inelastic states and elastic breakup may contribute to the remaining part. The percentage fraction of cross section for CF, ICF, one neutron stripping, and NCBU over reaction cross section show the dominance of neutron transfer and NCBU at below barrier energies while CF and ICF processes have the major contribution at above barrier energies.Comment: 12 pages, 3 figure

    Fusion of 6^{6}Li with 159^{159}Tb} at near barrier energies

    Complete and incomplete fusion cross sections for 6^{6}Li+159^{159}Tb have been measured at energies around the Coulomb barrier by the γ\gamma-ray method. The measurements show that the complete fusion cross sections at above-barrier energies are suppressed by ∟\sim34% compared to the coupled channels calculations. A comparison of the complete fusion cross sections at above-barrier energies with the existing data of 11,10^{11,10}B+159^{159}Tb and 7^{7}Li+159^{159}Tb shows that the extent of suppression is correlated with the ι\alpha-separation energies of the projectiles. It has been argued that the Dy isotopes produced in the reaction 6^{6}Li+159^{159}Tb, at below-barrier energies are primarily due to the dd-transfer to unbound states of 159^{159}Tb, while both transfer and incomplete fusion processes contribute at above-barrier energies.Comment: Phys.     Small Quadrupole Deformation for the Dipole Bands in 112In

    High spin states in 112^{112}In were investigated using 100^{100}Mo(16^{16}O, p3n) reaction at 80 MeV. The excited level have been observed up to 5.6 MeV excitation energy and spin ∼\sim 20ℏ\hbar with the level scheme showing three dipole bands. The polarization and lifetime measurements were carried out for the dipole bands. Tilted axis cranking model calculations were performed for different quasi-particle configurations of this doubly odd nucleus. Comparison of the calculations of the model with the B(M1) transition strengths of the positive and negative parity bands firmly established their configurations.Comment: 10 pages, 11 figures, 2 table

    Abstract This document from the European Society of Thoracic Imaging (ESTI) and the European Society of Radiology (ESR) discusses the role of imaging in the long-term follow-up of COVID-19 patients, to define which patients may benefit from imaging, and what imaging modalities and protocols should be used. Insights into imaging features encountered on computed tomography (CT) scans and potential pitfalls are discussed and possible areas for future review and research are also included. Key Points • Post-COVID-19 pneumonia changes are mainly consistent with prior organizing pneumonia and are likely to disappear within 12 months of recovery from the acute infection in the majority of patients. • At present, with the longest series of follow-up examinations reported not exceeding 12 months, the development of persistent or progressive fibrosis in at least some individuals cannot yet be excluded. • Residual ground glass opacification may be associated with persisting bronchial dilatation and distortion, and might be termed “fibrotic-like changes” probably consistent with prior organizing pneumonia.publishedVersio
