Performance of RF MEMS switches at low temperatures
The actuation voltage of microelectromechanical system (MEMS) \ud
metal switches was investigated at temperatures ranging from 10 to 290 K. The investigation shows a 50% increase in the actuation voltage at low temperature. A comparison has been made using a published model and showed similar increment of actuation voltage at low temperature
Internationalisation of Chinese SMEs: The Role of Networks and Global Value Chains
This article examines the role of networks and global value chains (GVCs), and how they influence emerging economy small and medium enterprisesâ (EE-SMEs) internationalisation. Drawing on the insights, experiences and perspectives of entrepreneurs and senior managers of SMEs that have originated from China, the study adopts qualitative approach and examines nine firmsâ internationalisation. We find that Chinese born-global manufacturing SMEs benefit from networks with quick insidership position into GVCs, but suffer from various obstacles that hinder their further development. The findings further indicate that network ties substantially facilitate EE-SMEsâ internationalisation, but also restrict their future global development, as their low position within the GVCs impedes further business development and capability building. The case firmsâ lower position within the GVCs weakens the networksâ influence on their GVC upgrading. The research identifies key enablers of GVCs engagement and obstacles of GVCs upgrading of the case firms which play an important role in the EE-SMEsâ internationalisation
Single-filament Composite MgB2/SUS Ribbons by Powder-In-Tube Process
We report the successful fabrication of single-filament composite MgB2/SUS
ribbons, as an ultra-robust conductor type, employing the powder-in-tube (PIT)
process, by swaging and cold rolling only. The remarkable transport critical
current (Ic) of the non-sintered MgB2/SUS ribbon has observed, as an unexpected
result. Transport critical currents Ic ~ 316 A at T = 4.2 K and Ic ~ 82 A at T
= 20 K were observed at self-field, for the non-sintered composite MgB2/SUS
ribbon. In addition, the persistent current density Jp values, that were
estimated by Bean formula, were more than ~ 7  105 A/cm2 at T = 5 K,
and ~ 1.2  105 A/cm2 at T = 30 K, for the sintered composite MgB2/SUS
ribbon, at H = 0 G.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figure
The Phonon Drag Effect in Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes
A variational solution of the coupled electron-phonon Boltzmann equations is
used to calculate the phonon drag contribution to the thermopower in a 1-D
system. A simple formula is derived for the temperature dependence of the
phonon drag in metallic, single-walled carbon nanotubes. Scattering between
different electronic bands yields nonzero values for the phonon drag as the
Fermi level varies.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figure

Study of charmonia in four-meson final states produced in two-photon collisions
We report measurements of charmonia produced in two-photon collisions and
decaying to four-meson final states, where the meson is either a charged pion
or a charged kaon. The analysis is based on a 395fb^{-1} data sample
accumulated with the Belle detector at the KEKB electron-positron collider. We
observe signals for the three C-even charmonia eta_c(1S), chi_{c0}(1P) and
chi_{c2}(1P) in the pi^+pi^-pi^+pi^-, K^+K^-pi^+pi^- and K^+K^-K^+K^- decay
modes. No clear signals for eta_c(2S) production are found in these decay
modes. We have also studied resonant structures in charmonium decays to
two-body intermediate meson resonances. We report the products of the
two-photon decay width and the branching fractions, Gamma_{gamma gamma}B, for
each of the charmonium decay modes.Comment: 22 pages, 12 figure
Spectra of prompt electrons from decays of B+ and B0 mesons and ratio of inclusive semielectronic branching fractions
We present spectra of prompt electrons from decays of neutral and charged B
mesons. The results are based on 140 /fb of data collected by the Belle
detector on the Upsilon(4S) resonance at the KEKB e+e- asymmetric collider. We
tag Upsilon(4S) -> B \bar{B} events by reconstructing a B meson in one of
several hadronic decay modes; the semileptonic decay of the other B meson is
inferred from the presence of an identified electron. We obtain for charged and
neutral B mesons the partial rates of semileptonic decay, to electrons with
momentum greater than 0.6 GeV/c in the B rest frame, and their ratio b_+/b_0 =
1.08 +- 0.05 +- 0.02, where the first and second errors are statistical and
systematic, respectively.Comment: 16 pages, 2 figure files, submitted to Phys. Lett.
Moments of the Hadronic Invariant Mass Spectrum in B --> X_c l nu Decays at Belle
We present a measurement of the hadronic invariant mass squared (M^2_X)
spectrum in charmed semileptonic B meson decays B --> X_c l nu based on 140
fb^-1 of Belle data collected near the Y(4S) resonance. We determine the first,
the second central and the second non-central moments of this spectrum for
lepton energy thresholds ranging between 0.7 and 1.9 GeV. Full correlations
between these measurements are evaluated.Comment: published version of the paper (one figure added, minor changes in
