    Fire resistance performance of submerged floating tunnel under various fire conditions

    Submerged Floating Tunnels (SFT) were researched by countries had many island as Norway, Italy,\ud China, and Japan. Several sites were examined in China and Norway. Most of them investigated about seismic, dynamic,\ud and collision performance. However, present researches lack to apply the construction fields, therefore, additional\ud researches need. Fire resistance performance of the SFT is important one of the various researches. If fire break out in\ud SFT, it is damaged by thermal loads. The damage of the SFT varies by type of fire. Structure of the SFT is able to\ud collapse partially by fire scale and fire exposure time. For this reason, fire resistance design of the SFT must be\ud suggested. Fire resistance performance of SFT could be investigating for fire resistance design of SFT. Fire condition\ud could be expressed fire curves which are suggested by fire scale and fire exposure time. In this paper, temperature\ud distributions of the SFT were investigated through FE analysis under various fire conditions. Heat transfer analysis was\ud applied to investigate conduction of heat by fire. And there was to draw the biggest influence fire condition to the SFT\ud from FE analysis results.     Bending strength analysis of steel-composite submerged floating tunnels

    A submerged floating tunnel (SFT) must have enough strength to resist to various external loadings such\ud as bending, torsion, tension, and compression. The expected main deformation of SFT is caused by bending moment.\ud And this bending moment makes tensile stress and compression stress on the wall of SFT. Thus, bending moment is a\ud main affecting factor on the safety of SFT. Until now, a reinforced concrete tunnel was suggested for SFT by other\ud researchers. In this study, an internally confined hollow reinforced concrete tunnel and a double skinned composite\ud tubular tunnel were proposed. And their bending strengths were studied and compared with that of a reinforced concrete\ud tunnel. The analysis results showed the proposed SFT structures had enough strength to guarantee safety

    Uterine Artery Doppler Velocimetry During Mid-second Trimester to Predict Complications of Pregnancy Based on Unilateral or Bilateral Abnormalities

    We performed this study to evaluate uterine artery Doppler velocimetry (UADV) measurement of unilateral or bilateral abnormalities as a predictor of complications in pregnancy during the mid-second trimester (20-24 weeks). We enrolled 1,090 pregnant women who had undergone UADV twice: once between the 20th and 24th week (1st stage) and again between the 28th and 32nd week (2nd stage) of pregnancy, and then delivered at Yonsei Medical Center. UADV was performed bilaterally. Follow-up UADV was performed between the 28th and 32nd week, and the frequencies of pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH), fetal growth restriction (FGR), and preterm delivery (before 34 weeks of gestation) were determined. Chi-squared and t-tests were used where appropriate, with p < .05 considered significant. According to the results of UADV performed between 20-24 weeks of gestation, 825 women (75.7%) were included in the normal group, 196 (18.0%) in the unilateral abnormality group, and 69 (6.3%) in the bilateral abnormality group. The incidences of FGR were 8.0%, 10.2%, and 26.1%, and the incidences of PIH were 0.1%, 3.6%, and 14.5%, respectively. The incidence of PIH was significantly lower in the normal group. The incidences of preterm delivery were 2.2%, 5.6%, and 8.7%, respectively. PIH developed in 46.7% of patients with bilateral abnormal findings in both the 1st and 2nd stage tests, and developed in none of the patients with normal findings in both tests. Abnormal results found by UADV performed between the 20-24th weeks of pregnancy, such as high S/D ratios regardless of placental location and the presence of an early diastolic notch, were associated with significant increases in the incidences of intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) and PIH. This was true for both bilateral and unilateral abnormalities. Abnormal findings in bilateral UADV during the second trimester especially warrant close follow up for the detection of subsequent development of pregnancy complications

    Antitumor enhancement of celecoxib, a selective Cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitor, in a Lewis lung carcinoma expressing Cyclooxygenase-2

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>The goal of this study was to determine the effects of a selective Cyclooxygenase (COX)-2 inhibitor on the inhibition of tumor growth and pulmonary metastasis in a Lewis Lung Carcinoma (LLC) animal model.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>For immunoblot analysis of COX-2 and PGE2, cells were treated with irradiation in the presence or absence of celecoxib. The right thighs of male, 6-week old C57/BL mice were subcutaneously injected with 1 × 10<sup>6 </sup>LLC cells. The animals were randomized into one of six groups: (1) no treatment, (2) 25 mg/kg celecoxib daily, (3) 75 mg/kg celecoxib daily, (4) 10 Gy irradiation, (5) 10 Gy irradiation plus 25 mg/kg celecoxib daily, and (6) 10 Gy irradiation plus 75 mg/kg celecoxib daily. Mice were irradiated only once, and celecoxib was administered orally. Mice were irradiated with 4-MV photons once the tumor volume of the control group reached 500 mm<sup>3</sup>. All mice were sacrificed when the mean tumor volume of control animals grew to 4000 mm<sup>3</sup>. The left lobes of the lungs were extracted for the measurement of metastatic nodules.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Irradiation resulted in a dose-dependent increase in PGE2 production. PGE2 synthesis decreased markedly after treatment with celecoxib alone or in combination with irradiation. Compared to mice treated with low dose celecoxib, mean tumor volume decreased significantly in mice treated with a high dose of celecoxib with or without irradiation. Mice treated with a high dose celecoxib alone, with irradiation alone, or with irradiation plus celecoxib had markedly fewer metastatic lung nodules than controls. The mean metastatic area was the smallest for mice treated with irradiation plus a high dose celecoxib.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>Oral administration of high dose celecoxib significantly inhibited tumor growth, as compared to a low dose treatment. Radiotherapy in combination with high dose celecoxib delayed tumor growth and reduced the number of pulmonary metastases to a greater extent than celecoxib or radiotherapy alone.</p

    Enhancing a Convolutional Autoencoder with a Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm for Image Noise Reduction

    Image denoising is essential for removing noise in images caused by electric device malfunctions or other factors during image acquisition. It helps preserve image quality and interpretation. Many convolutional autoencoder algorithms have proven effective in image denoising. Owing to their promising efficiency, quantum computers have gained popularity. This study introduces a quantum convolutional autoencoder (QCAE) method for improved image denoising. This method was developed by substituting the representative latent space of the autoencoder with a quantum circuit. To enhance efficiency, we leveraged the advantages of the quantum approximate optimization algorithm (QAOA)-incorporated parameter-shift rule to identify an optimized cost function, facilitating effective learning from data and gradient computation on an actual quantum computer. The proposed QCAE method outperformed its classical counterpart as it exhibited lower training loss and a higher structural similarity index (SSIM) value. QCAE also outperformed its classical counterpart in denoising the MNIST dataset by up to 40% in terms of SSIM value, confirming its enhanced capabilities in real-world applications. Evaluation of QAOA performance across different circuit configurations and layer variations showed that our technique outperformed other circuit designs by 25% on average.Comment: 11 pages, 12 figures and 1 tabl

    AD-YOLO: You Look ONly Once in Training Multiple Sound Event Localization and Detection

    Sound event localization and detection (SELD) combines the identification of sound events with the corresponding directions of arrival (DOA). Recently, event-oriented track output formats have been adopted to solve this problem; however, they still have limited generalization toward real-world problems in an unknown polyphony environment. To address the issue, we proposed an angular-distance-based multiple SELD (AD-YOLO), which is an adaptation of the "You Look Only Once" algorithm for SELD. The AD-YOLO format allows the model to learn sound occurrences location-sensitively by assigning class responsibility to DOA predictions. Hence, the format enables the model to handle the polyphony problem, regardless of the number of sound overlaps. We evaluated AD-YOLO on DCASE 2020-2022 challenge Task 3 datasets using four SELD objective metrics. The experimental results show that AD-YOLO achieved outstanding performance overall and also accomplished robustness in class-homogeneous polyphony environments.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures, accepted for publication in IEEE ICASSP 202

    Persona Extraction Through Semantic Similarity for Emotional Support Conversation Generation

    Providing emotional support through dialogue systems is becoming increasingly important in today's world, as it can support both mental health and social interactions in many conversation scenarios. Previous works have shown that using persona is effective for generating empathetic and supportive responses. They have often relied on pre-provided persona rather than inferring them during conversations. However, it is not always possible to obtain a user persona before the conversation begins. To address this challenge, we propose PESS (Persona Extraction through Semantic Similarity), a novel framework that can automatically infer informative and consistent persona from dialogues. We devise completeness loss and consistency loss based on semantic similarity scores. The completeness loss encourages the model to generate missing persona information, and the consistency loss guides the model to distinguish between consistent and inconsistent persona. Our experimental results demonstrate that high-quality persona information inferred by PESS is effective in generating emotionally supportive responses.Comment: Accepted by ICASSP202

    The Relationship between Aldosterone to Renin Ratio and RI Value of the Uterine Artery in the Preeclamptic Patient vs. Normal Pregnancy

However, these values in preeclampsia are decreased to nearly that of a nonpregnant subject, and vascular sensitivity to angiotensin II is increased. In preeclampsia, aldosterone is decreased less than rennin. Therefore current studies were undertaken to determine the relationship between aldosterone to renin ratio (ARR) and uterine artery perfusion via RI value. Materials and Methods: In this study, the relationship between plasma aldosterone and renin concentration was determined in 27 preeclamptic women and 50 normal pregnant women, whose gestational weeks were matched. The aldosterone to renin ratio was calculated and compared between the two groups. Doppler velocimetry of the uterine artery, which was used to calculate resistance index (RI), was performed on all subjects. The relationship between ARR and RI value was reviewed
