Conceptualization maturity metrics for expert systems

    Get PDF
Metrics used on development of expert systems is not a well investigated problem area. This article suggests some metrics to be used to measure the maturity of the conceptualization process and the complexity of the decision process in the problem domain. We propose some further work to be done with these metrics. Applying those metrics makes new and interesting problems, concerning the structure of knowledge to surfaceIFIP International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Theory and Practice - Expert SystemsRed de Universidades con Carreras en Informática (RedUNCI

A proposal of effort estimation method for information mining projects oriented to SMEs

    Get PDF
Software projects need to predict the cost and effort with its associated quantity of resources at the beginning of every project. Information Mining projects are not an exception to this requirement, particularly when they are required by Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). An existing Information Mining projects estimation method is not reliable for small-sized projects because it tends to overestimates the estimated efforts. Therefore, considering the characteristics of these projects developed with the CRISP-DM methodology, an estimation method oriented to SMEs is proposed in this paper. First, the main features of SMEs' projects are described and applied as cost drivers of the new method with the corresponding formula. Then this is validated by comparing its results to the existing estimation method using SMEs real projects. As a result, it can be seen that the proposed method produces a more accurate estimation than the existing estimation method for small-sized projects.Publicado en: Lecture Notes in Business Information Processing book series (LNBIP, volume 139)Facultad de Informátic

The purpose of this article is to present an experimental application for the detection of possible breast lesions by means of neural networks in medical digital imaging. This application broadens the scope of research into the creation of different types of topologies with the aim of improving existing networks and creating new architectures which allow for improved detection.Applications in Artificial Intelligence - Learning and Neural NetsRed de Universidades con Carreras en Informática (RedUNCI

Bayesian networks optimization based on induction learning techniques

    Get PDF
Obtaining a bayesian network from data is a learning process that is divided in two steps: structural learning and parametric learning. In this paper, we define an automatic learning method that optimizes the bayesian networks applied to classification, using a hybrid method of learning that combines the advantages of the induction techniques of the decision trees with those of the bayesian networks.Facultad de Informátic

Patterns in temporal series of meteorological variables using SOM & TDIDT

    Get PDF
The purpose of the present article is to investigate if there exist any such set of temporal stable patterns in temporal series of meteorological variables studying series of air temperature, wind speed and direction an atmospheric pressure in a period with meteorological conditions involving nocturnal inversion of air temperature in Allen, Río Negro, Argentina. Our conjecture is that there exist independent stable temporal activities, the mixture of which give rise to the weather variables; and these stable activities could be extracted by Self Organized Maps plus Top Down Induction Decision Trees analysis of the data arising from the weather patterns, viewing them as temporal signals.IFIP International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Theory and Practice - Industrial Applications of AIRed de Universidades con Carreras en Informática (RedUNCI

Detecting unusual changes of users consumption

    Get PDF
The points being approached in this paper are: the problem of detecting unusual changes of consumption in mobile phone users, the corresponding building of data structures which represent the recent and historic users' behavior bearing in mind the information included in a call, and the complexity of the construction of a function with so many variables where the parameterization is not always known.Facultad de Informátic

Development and implementation of a smart greenhouse

    Get PDF
A smart greenhouse was developed at Laboratorio de Informatica Aplicada with the department of Agronomic Engineering at the University of Rio Negro, it must provide real-time measurements of parameters such as humidity, temperature and luminosity; it also must allow manual and automatic control for actuators such as heaters, sprinklers and fans based on user input. In order to fulfill the aforementioned requirements the following actions were performed: (a) Design and implementation of a webpage to communicate with and control the greenhouse and, (b) Development: at first a model using Object Oriented Programming was implemented in an Arduino Mega board equipped with an ethernet shield; posteriorly, given that Arduino could not fulfill the necessary tasks, it was decided to develop a second prototype using a Raspberry Pi 2 Model B+ board along with completely new software programmed in Python 3.X Workshop Procesamiento de Señales y Sistemas de Tiempo Real.Red de Universidades con Carreras en Informátic
