Porphyrias associated with malignant tumors: Results of treatment with ionizing irradiation
Background: Porphyrin metabolism disorders, known as porphyria, represent inherited or acquired diseases. The development of porphyria due to light sensibility occurs especially with exposure to wavelengths in the range of 300-700 nm. Skin reactions and neurovisceral dysfunctions are known side effects of ionizing irradiation. It can be postulated that during or after ionizing irradiation treatment of patients affected with tumor and porphyria, severe side effects might appear, in contrast to patients without porphyria. This paper describes the treatment of 2 patients affected with tumor and concomitant porphyria. Patients: One female patient suffering from intermittent porphyria and breast cancer and one male patient suffering from porphyria cutanea tarda and bladder cancer were treated with ionizing irradiation (electrons and photons). No abnormalities nor any severe general or local side effects could be observed. Conclusion: Radiation therapy is not a `stimulating' factor in activating porphyria symptoms
The central noradrenergic system: an overview
The central noradrenergic system belongs to a group of brainstem neuromodulatory systems previously referred to as the
ascending reticular activating system. In this article a heuristic model is presented of the central noradrenergic system depicting
the major projections to other cerebral areas, its interactions with other neuromodulatory systems, mechanisms through which
it can influence cerebral function, as well as the major functions and disorders associated with alterations in central
noradrenergic activity. It is not the aim of this paper to provide fine detail on the various aspects, but rather to provide a concise
overview where structure and function, as well as the interactions with other systems are brought together. The contents of the
paper are summarized in a diagram. Keywords: Central noradrenergic system; Neuromodulatory; Brainstem African Journal of Psychiatry Vol. 10 (3) 2007: pp. 135-14

Loopedia, a Database for Loop Integrals
Loopedia is a new database at loopedia.org for information on Feynman
integrals, intended to provide both bibliographic information as well as
results made available by the community. Its bibliometry is complementary to
that of SPIRES or arXiv in the sense that it admits searching for integrals by
graph-theoretical objects, e.g. its topology.Comment: 16 pages, lots of screenshot
Cusp and collinear anomalous dimensions in four-loop QCD from form factors
We calculate the complete quark and gluon cusp anomalous dimensions in
four-loop massless QCD analytically from first principles. In addition, we
determine the complete matter dependence of the quark and gluon collinear
anomalous dimensions. Our approach is to Laurent expand four-loop quark and
gluon form factors in the parameter of dimensional regularization. We employ
finite field and syzygy techniques to reduce the relevant Feynman integrals to
a basis of finite integrals, and subsequently evaluate the basis integrals
directly from their standard parametric representations.Comment: 9 pages, 1 figure; v2: title updated as published, more details on

Dissipation of the 3^He A-B Transition
A rigorous hydrodynamic theory of the A-B transition is presented. All
dissipative processes are considered. At low interface velocities, those
occurring on hydrodynamic length scales, not considered hitherto, are most
probably the dominant ones.Comment: 13 pages, REVTeX, 2 figures, ITP-UH 13/9
Bubble Growth in Superfluid 3-He: The Dynamics of the Curved A-B Interface
We study the hydrodynamics of the A-B interface with finite curvature. The
interface tension is shown to enhance both the transition velocity and the
amplitudes of second sound. In addition, the magnetic signals emitted by the
growing bubble are calculated, and the interaction between many growing bubbles
is considered.Comment: 20 pages, 3 figures, LaTeX, ITP-UH 11/9
