A Decentralized Processing Schema for Efficient and Robust Real-time Multi-GNSS Satellite Clock Estimation

Real-time multi-GNSS precise point positioning (PPP) requires the support of high-rate satellite clock corrections. Due to the large number of ambiguity parameters, it is difficult to update clocks at high frequency in real-time for a large reference network. With the increasing number of satellites of multi-GNSS constellations and the number of stations, real-time high-rate clock estimation becomes a big challenge. In this contribution, we propose a decentralized clock estimation (DECE) strategy, in which both undifferenced (UD) and epoch-differenced (ED) mode are implemented but run separately in different computers, and their output clocks are combined in another process to generate a unique product. While redundant UD and/or ED processing lines can be run in offsite computers to improve the robustness, processing lines for different networks can also be included to improve the clock quality. The new strategy is realized based on the Position and Navigation Data Analyst (PANDA) software package and is experimentally validated with about 110 real-time stations for clock estimation by comparison of the estimated clocks and the PPP performance applying estimated clocks. The results of the real-time PPP experiment using 12 global stations show that with the greatly improved computational efficiency, 3.14 cm in horizontal and 5.51 cm in vertical can be achieved using the estimated DECE clock

Novel characterization method of impedance cardiography signals using time-frequency distributions

The purpose of this document is to describe a methodology to select the most adequate time-frequency distribution (TFD) kernel for the characterization of impedance cardiography signals (ICG). The predominant ICG beat was extracted from a patient and was synthetized using time-frequency variant Fourier approximations. These synthetized signals were used to optimize several TFD kernels according to a performance maximization. The optimized kernels were tested for noise resistance on a clinical database. The resulting optimized TFD kernels are presented with their performance calculated using newly proposed methods. The procedure explained in this work showcases a new method to select an appropriate kernel for ICG signals and compares the performance of different time-frequency kernels found in the literature for the case of ICG signals. We conclude that, for ICG signals, the performance (P) of the spectrogram with either Hanning or Hamming windows (PÂż=Âż0.780) and the extended modified beta distribution (PÂż=Âż0.765) provided similar results, higher than the rest of analyzed kernels.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version

Quantum Phase Transitions in the U(5)-O(6) Large N limit

The U(5)-O(6) transitional behavior of the Interacting Boson Model in the large N limit is revisited. Some low-lying energy levels, overlaps of the ground state wavefunctions, B(E2) transition rate for the decay of the first excited energy level to the ground state, and the order parameters are calculated for different total numbers of bosons. The results show that critical behaviors of these quantities are greatly enhanced with increasing of the total number of bosons N, especially fractional occupation probability for d bosons in the ground state, the difference between the expectation value of n_d in the first excited 0^+ state and the ground state, and another quantity related to the isomer shift behave similarly in both the O(6)-U(5) large N and U(5)-SU(3) phase transitions.Comment: 7 Pages LaTeX, 3 figure

Comparison of two cardiac output monitors, qCO and LiDCO, during general anesthesia

    Get PDF
Background: Optimization of cardiac output (CO) has been evidenced to reduce postoperative complications and to expedite the recovery. Likewise, CO and other dynamic cardiac parameters can describe the systemic blood flow and tissue oxygenation state and can be useful in different clinical fields. This study aimed to validate the qCO monitor (Quantium Medical, Barcelona, Spain), a new device to estimate CO and other related parameters in a continuous, fully non-invasive way using advanced digital signal processing of impedance cardiography. Methods: The LiDCOrapidv2 (LiDCO Ltd, London, UK) was used to compare the performance of the qCO in 15 patients during major surgery under general anesthesia. Full surgeries were recorded and cardiac output obtained by both devices was compared by using correlation and Bland-Altman analysis. Results: The Bland-Altman analysis showed sufficient agreement with a mean bias of -0.03 ± 0.71 L/min. Conclusions: The findings showed that both systems offered comparable values and thus the non-invasive measurement of CO with qCO is a promising, feasible method. Further investigation will be required to validate this new device against calibrated devices and outcome studies would also be highly recommended.Postprint (author's final draft

A Hybrid Continuity Loss to Reduce Over-Suppression for Time-domain Target Speaker Extraction

Speaker extraction algorithm extracts the target speech from a mixture speech containing interference speech and background noise. The extraction process sometimes over-suppresses the extracted target speech, which not only creates artifacts during listening but also harms the performance of downstream automatic speech recognition algorithms. We propose a hybrid continuity loss function for time-domain speaker extraction algorithms to settle the over-suppression problem. On top of the waveform-level loss used for superior signal quality, i.e., SI-SDR, we introduce a multi-resolution delta spectrum loss in the frequency-domain, to ensure the continuity of an extracted speech signal, thus alleviating the over-suppression. We examine the hybrid continuity loss function using a time-domain audio-visual speaker extraction algorithm on the YouTube LRS2-BBC dataset. Experimental results show that the proposed loss function reduces the over-suppression and improves the word error rate of speech recognition on both clean and noisy two-speakers mixtures, without harming the reconstructed speech quality.Comment: Submitted to Interspeech202
