The pion-pion scattering amplitude

We obtain reliable $\pi\pi$ scattering amplitudes consistent with experimental data, both at low and high energies, and fulfilling appropriate analyticity properties. We do this by first fitting experimental low energy ($s^{1/2}\leq1.42 {\rm GeV}$) phase shifts and inelasticities with expressions that incorporate analyticity and unitarity. In particular, for the S wave with isospin~0, we discuss in detail several sets of experimental data. This provides low energy partial wave amplitudes that summarize the known experimental information. Then, we impose Regge behaviour as follows from factorization and experimental data for the imaginary parts of the scattering amplitudes at higher energy, and check fulfillment of dispersion relations up to 0.925 GeV. This allows us to improve our fits. The ensuing $\pi\pi$ scattering amplitudes are then shown to verify dispersion relations up to 1.42 GeV, as well as $s - t - u$ crossing sum rules and other consistency conditions. The improved parametrizations therefore provide a reliable representation of pion-pion amplitudes with which one can test chiral perturbation theory calculations, pionium decays, or use as input for CP-violating $K$ decays. In this respect, we find $[a_0^{(0)}-a_0^{(2)}]^2=(0.077\pm0.008) M^{-1}_\pi$ and $\delta_0^{(0)}(m^2_K)-\delta_0^{(2)}(m^2_K)=52.9\pm1.6^{\rm o}$.Comment: Version to be published in Phys. Rev. D. Nutrigenomics: personalized nutrition.Nutrigenomics is an emerging discipline that studies how information of foods interacts with that of genes and their derived metabolic framework, as well as the consequences. This science uses traditional techniques of nutrition and metabolismbut also new technologies, and is nourished by the rapid advances in our knowledge of the genes composing the genome, their regulating mechanisms and how certain food components influence these systems. Moreover, this field benefits from the great advances being made in human biochemistry and particularly metabolism. Nutrigenomics can help in the design of new functional foods and implementation of better eating habits to control obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and otherchronic illnesses of our times. Nutrigenomics contributes to developing early or primary biomarkers of predictive homeostatic dysfunctions altering processes or functions that herald certain diseases or other welfare concerns

On sharing and synchronizing groupware calendars under android platform

Indeed, the individual work of the members of the group as well as the group work as a whole need the calendar to guide their activity and to meet the deadlines, milestones, deliverables of a project, etc. Additionally the members of the group should be able to work both offline and online, which arises when members of the group use smartphones and can eventually run out of Internet connection from time to time, or simply want to develop some activities locally. In the former case, they should have access to the calendar locally, while in the later case they should access the calendar online, shared by all members of the group. In both cases they should be able to see eventually the same information, namely the local calendars of the members should be synchronized with the group calendar. For the case of smartphones under Android system, one solution could be using the Google calendar, however, that is not easily tailorable to collaborative group work. In this paper we present an analysis, design and implementation of group work calendar that meets several requirements such as 1) sharing among all of members of the group, 2) synchronization among local calendars of members and global group calendar, 3) conflict resolution through a voting system, 4) awareness of changes in the entries (tasks, members, events, etc.) of the calendar and 5) all these requirements under proper privacy, confidentiality and security mechanisms. Moreover, we extend the sharing of calendars among different groups, a situation which often arises in enterprises when different groups need to be aware of other projects' development, or, when some members participate in more than one project at the same time.Peer ReviewedPostprint (author's final draft

Jóvenes Latinos en Barcelona. Un relato desde el espacio escolar

La investigación Espacio público y nuevas formas de sociabilidad. Jóvenes de origen latinoamericano en Barcelona (2005), dirigida por el antropólogo Carles Feixa realizada con el acompañamiento de un equipo de trabajo multidisciplinar, en el cual participe supuso un ejercicio de antropología implicada en la línea abierta por el Dr. Oriol Romaní, será el fundamento de esta reflexión desde el ámbito educativo. Apartir de ella nos adentraremos en una lectura posible de los procesos migratorios de los adolescentes y jóvenes latinos a través de las culturas juveniles vistos desde una mirada respetuosa, comprensiva y crítica, una mirada que intenta no perder al sujeto juvenil y hacer visibles las comunidades imaginarias a las que se les adscribe en el espacio público y sus controversias e influencias en el espacio escolar. Esta investigación fue el resultado de un encargo realizado por los Servicios de Prevención del Ayuntamiento de Barcelona (Serveis de Prevenció de l'Ajuntament de Barcelona), a Carles Feixa, a través del CIIMU y tiene una finalidad concreta saber "lo que pasa en Barcelona con los jóvenes latinos" (J.M.Lahosa, cap de Serveis de Prevenció, Mayo 2004) y supuso la intervención de diferentes agentes y actores sociales. Afloraran a través de la estructura y del desarrollo de la investigación-acción, los relatos de vida de los adolescentes y jóvenes migrantes a través de sus propias voces y examinaremos las diferentes miradas y expresiones de los adultos que conviven con ellos: madres y padres, profesores, asistentes sociales, policía, etc. haciendo especialmente hincapié en el territorio de los estereotipos y prejuicios que se visibilizaron en el tejido escolar y social vehiculados por los mass media.Nos preguntaremos por el "cómo" ha de acoger y acoge la institución escolar a las culturas juveniles para centrarnos en caso de los Latín Kings y Ñeta, como culturas juveniles que iniciaron su proceso de legalización y su conversión en agrupaciones culturales en Barcelona. No podemos obviar que todo proceso escolar contemporáneo se encuentra inmerso en el contexto de una sociedad compleja (E. Morín) y de la modernidad líquida (S.Baumann) donde se producen corrientes y dialécticas ideológicas, económicas, sociales y políticas que fluyen y refluyen en las dinámicas y prácticas pedagógicas que reproducen las exclusiones y desigualdades propiciadas por el neocapitalismo liberal presente en la globalización y por su implícita lógica del mercado de las cuales la escuela es espejo reflejante. Especialmente importante para esta propuesta basada en la reflexión de la propia actividad docente es la reintroducción de un rol de liderazgo en el profesorado como intelectuales comprometidos con las realidades sociales y los estilos de vida del alumnado, capaz de conducirlos y acompañarlos en un proceso de empoderamiento y liderazgo para una ciudadanía activa juvenil (H.Giroux y P.
