El Archivo de MediaLab Madrid: Una nueva experiencia para el Archivo de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid

This article tries to clarify some questions in order to understand the process that has led to the incorporation of the MediaLab Madrid Archive as a documentary collection in the Archive of the Complutense University of Madrid, from its donation to its availability to the public, recounted by the two authors of this text, one as manager and the other as archivist, with the aim of preserving the documentation for the scientific community and users in general.Trata este artículo de esclarecer algunas cuestiones para entender el proceso que ha llevado a que el Archivo de MediaLab Madrid se haya incorporado como fondo documental en el Archivo de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, desde su donación hasta su puesta a disposición del público, relatado por las dos autoras del presente texto, una como gestora y otra como archivera, con el objetivo conservar la documentación para la comunidad científica y los usuarios en general. &nbsp

La provisión de plazas en las escuelas públicas de primera enseñanza: fuentes documentales en el Archivo General de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid

El sistema educativo basado en la enseñanza elemental de carácter universal, gratuito y aplicable a todos los españoles con el objeto de fomentar su condición de ciudadanos, tiene su punto de partida en la Constitución de Cádiz. Posteriormente, la Ley de 1857 trazará los ejes que, durante más de un siglo, articularán la educación en España. Es, precisamente, la denominada Ley Moyano la que otorga a la Universidad y, por ende, al rector la competencia sobre la dotación de plazas vacantes en las escuelas públicas del distrito universitario de Madrid, que comprendía las provincias de Madrid, Ávila, Guadalajara, Toledo, Cuenca, Ciudad Real y Segovia, tanto por el sistema de concurso como por el de oposición. El procedimiento administrativo de provisión de plazas generó un importante volumen documental que se conserva en el Archivo General de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Ambos aspectos -procedimiento administrativo y documentos- constituyen el objeto de esta comunicación. Para finalizar, y como conclusión, se ha llevado a cabo un estudio pormenorizado de la documentación generada con motivo de los concursos y oposiciones que tuvieron lugar en el periodo 1880-1920, en las escuelas públicas de la provincia de Guadalajara

Harnessing the potential of NK cell-based immunotherapies against multiple myeloma

Natural killer (NK) cell-based therapies have emerged as promising anticancer treatments due to their potency as cytolytic effectors and synergy with concurrent treatments. Multiple myeloma (MM) is an aggressive B-cell malignancy that, despite development of novel therapeutic agents, remains incurable with a high rate of relapse. In MM, the inhospitable tumor microenvironment prevents host NK cells from exerting their cytolytic function. The development of NK cell immunotherapy works to overcome this altered immune landscape and can be classified in two major groups based on the origin of the cell: autologous or allogeneic. In this review, we compare the treatments in each group, such as autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) NKs and allogeneic off-the-shelf NK cell infusions, and their combinatorial effect with existing MM therapies including monoclonal antibodies and proteasome inhibitors. We also discuss their placement in clinical treatment regimens based on the immune profile of each patient. Through this examination, we would like to discover precisely when each NK cell-based treatment will produce the maximum benefit to the MM patient

Super-Cationic Peptide Dendrimers¿Synthesis and Evaluation as Antimicrobial Agents

Microbial infections are a major public health concern. Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) have been demonstrated to be a plausible alternative to the current arsenal of drugs that has become inefficient due to multidrug resistance. Herein we describe a new AMP family, namely the supercationic peptide dendrimers (SCPDs). Although all members of the series exert some antibacterial activity, we propose that special attention should be given to (KLK)2KLLKLL-NH2 (G1KLK-L2KL2), which shows selectivity for Gram-negative bacteria and virtually no cytotoxicity in HepG2 and HEK293. These results reinforce the validity of the SCPD family as a valuable class of AMP and support G1KLK-L2KL2 as a strong lead candidate for the future development of an antibacterial agent against Gram-negative bacteria
