    Hybridized tetraquarks

    Get PDF
We propose a new interpretation of the neutral and charged X,Z exotic hadron resonances. Hybridized-tetraquarks are neither purely compact tetraquark states nor bound or loosely bound molecules but rather a manifestation of the interplay between the two. While meson molecules need a negative or zero binding energy, its counterpart for h -tetraquarks is required to be positive. The formation mechanism of this new class of hadrons is inspired by that of Feshbach metastable states in atomic physics. The recent claim of an exotic resonance in the View the MathML source channel by the D0 Collaboration and the negative result presented subsequently by the LHCb Collaboration are understood in this scheme, together with a considerable portion of available data on X,Z particles. Considerations on a state with the same quantum numbers as the X(5568) are also made

Tetraquarks in the 1/N expansion and meson-meson resonances

    Get PDF
Diquarks are found to have the right degrees of freedom to describe the tetraquark poles in hidden-charm to open-charm meson-meson amplitudes. Compact tetraquarks result as intermediate states in non-planar diagrams of the 1/N expansion and the corresponding resonances are narrower than what estimated before. The proximity of tetraquarks to meson-thresholds has an apparent role in this analysis and, in the language of meson molecules, an halving rule in the counting of states is obtained

    Flavored tetraquark spectroscopy

The recent confirmation of the charged charmonium like resonance Z(4430) by the LHCb experiment strongly suggests the existence of QCD multi quark bound states. Some preliminary results about hypothetical flavored tetraquark mesons are reported. Such states are particularly amenable to Lattice QCD studies as their interpolating operators do not overlap with those of ordinary hidden-charm mesons

A study of the relativistic corrections to tritium β\beta-decay

Forthcoming experiments like Project8 and Ptolemy aim at investigating with high precision the end-point of the tritium β\beta-decay spectrum sensitive to the neutrino mass. In light of this, using the standard parametrization in terms of nuclear polar form factors, we analyze the complete relativistic expression for the spectrum of the β\beta-electron emitted by a tritium nucleus. Given the small parameters in the problem, we discuss the approximations that can be made, and present the first two corrections to the standard lowest order formula, improving on the few results available in the literature.Comment: 5 pages, 1 figure, 1 tabl

Neurobiological underpinnings of reward anticipation and outcome evaluation in gambling disorder

    Get PDF
Gambling disorder is characterized by persistent and recurrent maladaptive gambling behavior, which leads to clinically significant impairment or distress. The disorder is associated with dysfunctions in the dopamine system. The dopamine system codes reward anticipation and outcome evaluation. Reward anticipation refers to dopaminergic activation prior to reward, while outcome evaluation refers to dopaminergic activation after reward. This article reviews evidence of dopaminergic dysfunctions in reward anticipation and outcome evaluation in gambling disorder from two vantage points: a model of reward prediction and reward prediction error by Wolfram Schultz et al. and a model of “wanting” and “liking” by Terry E. Robinson and Kent C. Berridge. Both models offer important insights on the study of dopaminergic dysfunctions in addiction, and implications for the study of dopaminergic dysfunctions in gambling disorder are suggested

The role of the pion in the lineshape of the X(3872)X(3872)

We determine the contribution of long-range pion interactions to the X(3872)X(3872) dynamics, assuming it is a loosely bound D0Dˉ0D^0 \bar{D}^{*0} molecule. Our result is based on the distorted wave Born approximation in non-relativistic quantum mechanics. Despite their long-range nature, we find that pion interactions cannot produce a large and negative effective range. Nonetheless, they introduce imaginary parts. In particular, they contribute to the total decay width of the X(3872)X(3872) with a term associated with, but not precisely corresponding to, the DD^* width. Our approach can also be applied to the recently discovered Tcc+T_{cc}^+ states.Comment: 9 pages, 1 figur

The nature of X(3872) from high-multiplicity pp collisions

The structure of exotic resonances that do not trivially fit the usual quark model expectations has been a matter of intense scientific debate during the last two decades. A possible way of estimating the size of these states is to study their behavior when immersed in QCD matter. Recently, LHCb has measured the relative abundance of the exotic X(3872) over the ordinary ψ(2S). We use the comover interaction model to study the yield of a compact X(3872). To confirm the reliability of the model in high-multiplicity pp collisions, we describe the suppression of excited over ground Υ states. With this at hand, we show that the size of the compact X(3872) would be slightly larger than that of the ψ(2S). If the X(3872) is instead assumed to be a meson molecule of large size, we argue that its evolution in QCD matter should be described via a coalescence model, as suggested by data on deuteron production. We show that the predictions of this model for the X(3872) are in contrast with dataA.E. is supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation under contract 200020-169696 and through the National Center of Competence in Research SwissMAP.
