Impacts of Information Technologies on Information Centers and Services
There is no area that is not affected by technology in terms of change and development. Information is the basic input and output of technology, and for this reason its name is information technology

The legal deposit is a process of submitting a required number of copies from each recorded material to an officially identified institution by the publisher in order to enable their preservation for the use of future generations. The history of legal deposit in the developed countries goes as far back as 16th century. Whereas in Turkey this process started only in the mid 19th century, and the applications to this extent has been far from meeting the expressed requirements. Therefore, the aims of this study are to identify the major shortcomings of legal deposit applications and further more to provide guide lines and recommendations in order to reforming the process. In the lights of the above mentioned aims of the study, the problem of our research has been formulated as “what are the major factors that hindered the effective development of legal deposit in Turkey which is vitally important for the cultural life of the country?” As for the hypothesis that has been proved is “despite the fact of expressing the need for a new legal deposit act, every effort to this end has emphasised on the political instead of cultural dimensions”. The historical method has been used in this study. The development of legal deposit activities since 1850’s has been discussed and examined throughly. The finding of the research has proved our hypothesis. Finally a list of recommendations has been provided

Covid-19 Pandemi Döneminde Çankırı Karatekin Üniversitesi Bilgi ve Belge Yönetimi Bölümü Çevrim İçi Staj Programının Değerlendirilmesi
In addition to ensuring the permanence of learning by transforming theoretical knowledge into practice, internship has an important place in university education in terms of familiarity with the business environment and professional experience before graduation. The main issue in internship practice is to see and experience the work and processes related to the discipline they study in. However, due to the Covid-19 epidemic of 2020, the institutions’ refusal to accept interns has hampered the appropriateness of the practices. Some departments seeking to not deprive students of the achievements of internship practices, applied online internship programs for a solution, as in theoretical courses. In this study, it is aimed to measure the effects on students of online internship practice of Department of Information Management, Çankırı Karatekin University, which was carried out as a result of the cancellation of the internship, which has an important place in Information Management education, during the pandemic. In this practice, which is carried out in cooperation with the two leading professional associations of the discipline, University and Research Librarians Association and Turkish Librarians Association, in a 4-week period, online seminars were given to 114 students by 30 speakers in 22 sessions on 5 main topics, including the skills transferred to students in face-to-face internship practice. In the study, which was planned to determine the attitudes of the students about the seminars, the situations of the sessions, speakers and the department were evaluated. In the study using descriptive method, at the end of the internship application, the results of the questionnaire applied to the students were evaluated by the “surveey” tool and it was understood that the students generally benefited from the program. Although there is no alternative to face-to-face internship, it has emerged that they defend the opinion that participation in such practices carried out due to force majeure is necessary. The study will be successful to the extent that such programs serve the awareness that planned and systematic implementation and broad participation with both the student and the institution are important.
Public Libraries as a Social Culture Institution: A Situation Map of Çankırı Public Libraries in Terms of Facilities and Services
The phenomena of development and change, increased with the impact of information technologies, has led to the 21st century being referred to as the "Information Age" and the societies fulfilling the requirements of this age as "Information Society". Behind the developments summarized as "the only thing that is constant is change", lies the truth of exponential increase in the information production and consumption, namely "Information Explosion". This development, which causes radical changes in almost every field, predicts an information intensive life to individual, social and professional success. In other words, successful individuals of the age are those who are skillful in using knowledge to solve a problem or to make a decision and in this way those who are in continuous learning activity. In this activity expressed by the concept of lifelong learning, while the role of formal education institutions is limited to specific time and environment, informal education institutions come into prominence as the organizations that provide individuals with learning support throughout life. Libraries from past to present are social institutions that support the cultural, academic and social development of individuals through information services. In this sense, by meeting their information needs, the library plays a role of fundamental importance in contributing to individuals to be lifelong learners. The ability of libraries to fulfill this role is closely related to the possibilities (and facilities) they have. It is important that these facilities shall be provided in accordance with the pattern and expectations of the social environment that they serve so that services provided be also in accordance with the requirements of the age. This study is based on the prediction that public libraries in our country do not serve with facilities relevant and appropriate to the requirements of the age. In this context, the physical facilities and their reflection on the services of Çankırı public libraries affiliated to central government are revealed by a field study. According to the results obtained, some recommendations for improving service quality are offered. It is expected that recommendations based on local findings will be valid at a national level
