Overweight and obesity prevalence in schoolchildren and evaluation of their healthy nutrition knowledge
Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate over weight and obesity prevalence and healthy nutrition knowledge in adolescents aged 11-14 years, living in the town of Parvomai in district of Plovdiv.Material and methods: The over weight and obesity prevalence was assessed according to the international cut off points for body mass index for over weight and obesity proposed by Cole et al, 2000. A questionnaire of V. Duleva, 2005 was used for evaluation of healthy nutrition knowledge. Results: The results show that 20% of the studied boys and 12% of the girls are with over weight and obesity. The questionnaire's data show that a considerable part of the adolescents have not good information about healthy nutrition. Conclusion: Recommendations about elaboration of adequate educational programs for nutrition in the schools were made. The aim of this strategy is the development of healthy nutritional behavior in adolescents.Scripta Scientifica Medica 2009; 41(2): 187-189
Application of busness analytics methods in the organization of the recruitment process in technology startups
The purpose of this study is to show the capabilities of neural networks in the selection of personnel based on a specific set of characteristics and competencies necessary for solving design problems. Monitoring and filling professional gaps in organizations can be implemented using data analysis technologies, analytical methods. Within the framework of this work, the task is limited to finding personnel for technological entrepreneurship projects (startups). But this task can be expanded for the selection of personnel of any organization, including a set of indicators specific competencies, additional characteristics of staff, professional requirements, etc.The peculiarities of the problem to implement the business intelligence tools. A set of indicators for the selection of talents is defined. A set of criteria for evaluating candidates for project roles of the it project, including experience of project work, mentoring, availability of specialized certificate, knowledge of project methodology; ability to use analytical tools; knowledge of programming languages; sociability and conflict-free; ability to convince. The matrix of competences and powers on project roles is made. Among the competencies identified: basic, interpersonal, soft skills (soft skills) and additional skills through which the employee can replace colleagues in emergency cases. The functional scheme of the decision is constructed, and the neural network is realized, which displays connection of various attributes with the made decisions on them depending on values of the calculated criteria. As you import data on a few employees and gather information from hh.ru three candidates for the position, the calculation of compliance metrics to the selected positions
Linear magnetoresistance in compensated graphene bilayer
We report a nonsaturating linear magnetoresistance in charge-compensated
bilayer graphene in a temperature range from 1.5 to 150 K. The observed linear
magnetoresistance disappears away from charge neutrality ruling out the
traditional explanation of the effect in terms of the classical random resistor
network model. We show that experimental results qualitatively agree with a
phenomenological two-fluid model taking into account electron-hole
recombination and finite-size sample geometry
“Green” Synthesis of Sucrose Octaacetate and Characterization of Its Physicochemical Properties and Antimicrobial Activity
Sucrose octaacetate (octa-O-acetylsucrose) has been synthesized by esterification of sucrose with acetic anhydride using ultrasound-assisted irradiation. This sucrose ester is a white, water-insoluble substance with a bitter taste. The FT-IR and NMR spectra confirmed
acetylation and revealed the hydrophobic incorporation in sucrose molecule. Furthermore, the foamability, foam stability, emulsification and antimicrobial properties of octa-O-acetylsucrose were evaluated. Foams and 50 % (oil/water) model emulsions were prepared with 2 % (w/w) octa-O-acetylsucrose. The obtained results demonstrate the
formation of emulsions and foams with high stability (50–70 %). The antimicrobial activity of octa-O-acetylsucrose was evaluated against seventeen microorganisms (Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, yeasts, and fungi). Octa-O-acetylsucrose inhibited
the growth of fungi Penicillium sp., Rhizopus sp. and Fusarium moniliforme at 5 mg cm–3, and yeasts Candida albicans at 1 mg cm–3. Inhibition against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria was not observed. The obtained results demonstrate the potential
applications of octa-O-acetylsucrose as a foaming agent, oil-in-water emulsion stabilizer, and antifungal substance in pharmaceutical and cosmetic preparations.

Development of the energy efficient residential low-rise house concept for the Ural region
In the article the problem of energy-efficient construction in Russia is considered. The energy-saving technologies and renewable energy sources acceptable in construction in the Ural region analysis is carried out. Main reasons of the irrational consumption of thermal energy are highlighted and the strategy of the energy-efficient construction development in the Urals is described. As a result of the research, a conceptual project of an individual residential house was developed. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd
