In this paper, as the world gets more and more technologically advanced, we find new technology coming in deeper and deeper into our personal lives even at home. Home automation is becoming more popular around the world and is becoming a common practice. This Paper presents the overall design of Home Automation System (HAS) with low cost and wireless remote control. This system is designed to assist and provide support in order to fulfill the needs of elderly and disabled in home. Also, the smart home concept in the system improves the standard living at home. This paper puts forth the equipment which enables users to control their home appliances using their Android phone. Due to the advancement of wireless technology, there are several different of connections are introduced such as GSM, WIFI, ZIGBEE, and Bluetooth

Buckling analysis of rectangular plates with variable thickness resting on elastic foundation

    Get PDF
Buckling of rectangular plates of variable thickness resting in elastic foundation is analysed using a quintic spline approximation technique. The thickness of the plate varies in the direction of one edge and the variations are assumed to be linear, exponential and sinusoidal. The plate is subjected to in plane load of two opposite edges. The buckling load and the mode shapes of buckling are computed from the eigenvalue problem that arises. Detailed parametric studies are made with different boundary conditions and the results are presented through the diagram and discussed

(40)A-Ar-39 age of a lava flow from the bhimashankar formation, Giravali ghat, Deccan Traps

We report here a Ar-40-Ar-39 age of 66.0 +/- 0.9 Ma (2sigma) for a reversely magnetised tholeiitic lava flow from the Bhimashankar Formation (Fm.), Giravali Ghat, western Deccan province, India. This age is consistent with the view that the 1.8-2 km thick bottom part of the exposed basalt flow sequence in the Western Ghats was extruded very close to 67.4 Ma

Mechanical and Corrosion Behavior of Al7075 (Hybrid) Metal Matrix Composites by Two Step Stir Casting Process

    No full text
Abstract This paper investigates the mechanical properties and corrosion behavior of Metal Matrix Composites prepared using Al7075 alloy as a matrix, Silicon Carbide and Titanium Carbide as reinforcement particles. Two step stir casting process was used to fabricate the composites by varying volume fractions of Silicon Carbide and Titanium Carbide (0 to 15 vol. %). Microstructural analysis, mechanical and corrosion behavior were used to evaluate the performance of the composites. Uniform distribution of reinforcement particle was observed through optical photomicrographs. Vickers micro hardness tests were performed and the hardness values were increased with an increase in reinforcement from 0 to 15 vol. %. The tensile strength of the 10 vol. % of aluminum hybrid matrix composite was better than that of the base alloy. In 3.5% NaCl solution, it was observed that the 15 vol. % of the aluminum hybrid matrix composite have higher corrosion resistance in comparison the base alloy

Mathematical modeling and prediction of the thrust force and torque in drilling of sisal/glass-vinyl ester hybrid composite using the RSM, MLPNN, RBFN and ENN methods

289-298Drilling a polymer composite material without defects is not an easy task; even so, these materials are largely used in aerospace and other industries, due to their excellent mechanical properties. Tool wear, delamination and fiber pull out are the major problems in drilling. Literature reveals that the thrust force (<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal">th) and torque (tq) have a significant effect on tool life and delamination. Therefore, to improve the performance of drilling, it is essential to study the thrust force and torque. This paper discusses the methodologies used in the prediction and evaluation of the thrust force and torque in the drilling of sisal and glass fiber reinforced vinyl ester resin hybrid composite materials. Experiments are conducted in the CNC machining center, and high speed steel (HSS) drill bits are used in the machining center for the drilling operations. Process parameters such as the drill diameter (d), spindle speed (s) and feed rate (<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal">f) are considered as the controlling factors for the study. The experimental data obtained are used for training and testing with RSM and ANN techniques such as MLPNN, RBFN and ENN. The predicted thrust force and torque, based on the MLPNN model, are found to be in very good agreement with the experimental values

Investigation of Mechanical and Corrosion Properties of Al 7075/Garnet Metal Matrix Composites by Two-stage Stir Casting Process

    No full text
The impact of Garnet addition into the AL7075 aluminium matrix on the physical, mechanical and corrosion properties are studied in this research paper. Al 7075/garnet composites are fabricated by using two-stage stir casting method in different (0, 5, 10, 15) volume percentages. Photomicrograph of prepared samples revealed the uniform distribution of garnet reinforcement into the base matrix. The corrosion rate is calculated by potentiodynamic polarization method. The actual density is increased by around 1.2% for al 7075 / garnet (15%) composite as compared to base alloy. Micro hardness of al 7075 / garnet (15%) composite is raised by around 47 (34%) compare to as cast base matrix. Al 7075 / garnet (15%) composite tensile strength stood at 252 Mpa, which is 40% greater than the base alloy. Al 7075 / 15% garnet composites reduce around 97% of corrosion rate than the base matrix. Alloy elements influenced the corrosion than Garnet reinforcement
