An attempt has been made to find out correlation and to drive a regression formula between the length of humerus and height of an individual, in western region of Maharashtra. The material consisted of 200 undergraduate and post-graduate medical students of age group 20 to 30 years from western region of Maharashtra. The length of humerus is measured by asking the subject to flex the elbow joint. The flexor surfaces of arm and forearm made an angle of 90 degree. The lateral epicondyle was felt and marked with skin marking pencil. Acromion point was traced by moving finger over clavicle’s lateral end and was marked. The distance between two points was measured by spreading caliper, both side humerus length was taken. The measured length was subtracted by 2.0 mm as the acromion point is 2 to 5 mm above humeral head. Height of the subject was measured with standard height measuring instrument in anatomical position. The results obtained were analyzed and attempt was made to derive a formula between length of humerus and total height of an individual. The result shows that there is definite correlation between the two.

    Partial Group Representations on Semialgebras

Let AA be an additively cancellative semialgebra over an additively cancellative semifield KK as defined in [9]. For a given partial action α\alpha of a group GG on an algebra, the associativity of partial skew group ring together with the existence and uniqueness of enveloping (global) action were studied by M. Dokuchaev and R. Exel [2] which were extended for semialgebras with some restriction by Sharma et. al. using the ring of differences. In a similar way, we extend the results of [2,3] for semialgebras regarding partial representations.Comment: PAGE 20-2

Background: Blood culture provides essential information for the evaluation of a variety of diseases like endocarditis, pneumonia, and pyrexia of unknown origin particularly, in patients with suspected sepsis. Septicaemia is one of the leading causes of neonatal mortality along with perinatal hypoxia. Objectives: To study the bacterial flora of blood stream infections in adults & pediatric patients including neonates. To study the risk factors and duration of incubation for obtaining positive cultures. To study their antibiotic resistant pattern and compare results with those of other investigators in this field. Methods: This prospective study was conducted in the department of microbiology, Narayana medical college and hospital, Nellore over a period of six months, from March 2014 to September 2014. During the six months period, 200 samples received from various departments were processed and relevant findings were noted. Results: Out of 200 blood samples growth was obtained in 34 samples (17%). Among them Gram positive bacteria were 11 (5.5%). Gram negative bacilli were 23 (11.6%). Among the gram positive bacteria maximum resistance was seen with methicillin and imipenum. No resistance was seen with vancomycin and erythromycin. Most of gram negative bacilli were multidrug resistant. Maximum resistance was seen with piperacillin, amikacin, ceftizoxime and amoxyclav.  Conclusion: Early diagnosis & appropriate treatment of bacterial infections can make difference between life & death. It would reduce mortality from septicaemia, reduce time & improve patient management.

With the rapid rise in the popularity of social media (500M+ Facebook users, 100M+ twitter users), and near ubiquitous mobile access (4.1 billion actively-used mobile phones), the sharing of observations and opinions has become common-place (nearly 100M tweets a day, 1.8 trillion SMSs in US last year). This has given us an unprecedented access to the pulse of a populace and the ability to perform analytics on social data to support a variety of socially intelligent applications -- be it towards targeted online content delivery, crisis management, organizing revolutions or promoting social development in underdeveloped and developing countries. This tutorial will address challenges and techniques for building applications that support a broad variety of users and types of social media. This tutorial will focus on social intelligence applications for social development, and cover the following research efforts in sufficient depth: 1) understanding and analysis of informal text, esp. microblogs (e.g., issues of cultural entity extraction and role of semantic/background knowledge enhanced techniques), and 2) building social media analytics platforms. Technical insights will be coupled with identification of computational techniques and real-world examples

Niosomes as vesicular carriers for delivery of proteins and biologicals

Over the past several years, treatment of infectious diseases and immunization has undergone a paradigm shift. Stemming from the nanobiotechnology research, not only a large number of disease-specific biologicals have been developed, but also enormous efforts have been made to effectively deliver these biologicals. Niosomes are vesicular systems prepared from self-assembly of hydrated non-ionic surfactants. Opinions of the usefulness of niosomes in delivery of proteins and biologicals range from unsubstantiated optimism to undeserved pessimism. This article reviews the current deepening and widening of interest of niosomes in many scientific disciplines, and their application in medicine particularly for the delivery of proteins (insulin, cyclosporine, bacitracin, trypsin), vaccines and antigens (bovine serum albumin, antigen tetanus toxoid, haemagglutinin). This article also presents an overview of techniques of noisome preparation, characterization of niosomes and their applications. Keywords: Niosomes, Proteins, Biologicals, Vaccines, Oral deliver

Autism is most common mental disabilities in childhood with unknown aetiology nowadays. In our Siddha paediatric text, the symptoms of Mantha sanni are nearly correlated with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Objectives: The Main objectives of the study is to evaluate the Siddha therapeutic management and to analyse the clinical assessment of Mantha sanni (Autism Spectrum Disorder) with Experimental formulations and procedures and the secondary objectives are to calibrate the resemblance and the equivalence of Mantha Sanni with Autism Spectrum Disorder and to explore the Siddha therapeutic management in Autism children. Methods: In preclinical studies of Physicochemical, Phytochemical activities and Pharmacological activities were done. In clinical studies, among 30 children were included in inclusion criteria and received Kuruver kudineer as internal twice a day and Sambrani thuvalai and Mysatchi pugai as external once in a day. The Experimental period was 90 days and the activities of ASD children were recorded 0th day followed by every 30th day. Results and Discussion: In this clinical study indicating that both internal and external medicine had superior action as far as improvement in ASD is considered. Since Kuruver Kudineer use is to enhance cognitive skills, enhance nerve impulse transmission, research has been focused on the mechanism behind this activity. Thuvalai with Sambrani ennai use to enhance the Sitting tolerance, invigorating feeling and can give comfort. Fumigation with Mysatchi pugai is one of the methods of treatment in ancient period. It has to enhancing the mind calming activity, reduced hyperactivity, induced sound sleep, reduced screaming and irritable cry. In Statistical analysis, there is significant difference between before and after treatment on clinical assessment parameter score i.e. 86% improvement in this score after treatment. Based on the results of this clinical study, it can be conclude that Kuruver kudineer as internal and Sambrani thuvalai and Mysatchi pugai as external. It has a definite action as well as clinical efficacy on symptoms in ASD children seen in regular OPD and IPD. The effects of Internal and external therapies may be due individual drugs multipronged action. Further study is required for scientific validation to prove its clinical efficacy in multicentre clinical study

Assessment of Natural Resources for Conservation of Wetland in District Chamba

The Ramsar Convection of IUCN held in 1971 in Iran raised global attention on the conservation and management of wetlands. 3 wetlands in the Indian State of Himachal Pradesh have been declared a wetland of International importance. Thus it is felt necessary to reclaim and develop high altitude wetlands for its optimum potential use, but a reliable and accurate database is not available. The present endeavour aims at the generation of database in terms of physical aspects/ land use, the extent of water spread and its water quality, vegetation status of the catchment area and surroundings of the lake. The threats to high altitude wetlands have been identified and adequate measures for its conservation and management suggested
