Euro-American discussion document on entry and advanced level practice in nuclear medicine
The European Association of Nuclear Medicine Technologist Committee (EANMTC) and the Society of Nuclear Medicine Technologist Section (SNMTS) meet biannually to consider matters of mutual importance. These meetings are held during the SNM and EANM annual conferences. For several years, within these meetings, EANMTC and SNMTS have considered the value of having a Euro-American initiative in defining entry-level and advanced practice competencies for nuclear medicine radiographers (NMRs) and nuclear medicine technologists (NMTs). In June 2009, during the SNM annual conference in Toronto, it was agreed that a Euro-American working party would be established to consider advanced practice. It was recognized that any consideration of a definition for advanced practice would be predicated on an understanding or definition of entry-level practice. As a result, both types of practice would have to be considered. This discussion document outlines some of the background issues associated with advanced practice generally and specifically within nuclear medicine. The primary purpose of this document is to stimulate debate, on a Euro-American level, about the perceived value of advanced practice for NMRs and NMTs within nuclear medicine and to develop an internationally accepted list of entry-level competencies and scope of practice for NMRs and NMTs within nuclear medicine
Single-Step Quantum Search Using Problem Structure
The structure of satisfiability problems is used to improve search algorithms
for quantum computers and reduce their required coherence times by using only a
single coherent evaluation of problem properties. The structure of random k-SAT
allows determining the asymptotic average behavior of these algorithms, showing
they improve on quantum algorithms, such as amplitude amplification, that
ignore detailed problem structure but remain exponential for hard problem
instances. Compared to good classical methods, the algorithm performs better,
on average, for weakly and highly constrained problems but worse for hard
cases. The analytic techniques introduced here also apply to other quantum
algorithms, supplementing the limited evaluation possible with classical
simulations and showing how quantum computing can use ensemble properties of NP

Interleukin-12 p40 secretion by cutaneous CD11c(+) and F4/80(+) cells is a major feature of the innate immune response in mice that develop Th1-mediated protective immunity to Schistosoma mansoni
Radiation-attenuated (RA) schistosome larvae are potent stimulators of innate immune responses at the skin site of exposure (pinna) that are likely to be important factors in the development of Th1-mediated protective immunity. In addition to causing an influx of neutrophils, macrophages, and dendritic cells (DCs) into the dermis, RA larvae induced a cascade of chemokine and cytokine secretion following in vitro culture of pinna biopsy samples. While macrophage inflammatory protein 1alpha and interleukin-1beta (IL-1beta) were produced transiently within the first few days, the Th1-promoting cytokines IL-12 and IL-18 were secreted at high levels until at least day 14. Assay of C3H/HeJ mice confirmed that IL-12 secretion was not due to lipopolysaccharide contaminants binding Toll-like receptor 4. Significantly, IL-12 p40 secretion was sustained in pinnae from vaccinated mice but not in those from nonprotected infected mice. In contrast, IL-10 was produced from both vaccinated and infected mice. This cytokine regulates IL-12-associated dermal inflammation, since in vaccinated IL-10(-/-) mice, pinna thickness was greatly increased concurrent with elevated levels of IL-12 p40. A significant number of IL-12 p40(+) cells were detected as emigrants from in vitro-cultured pinnae, and most were within a population of rare large granular cells that were Ia(+), consistent with their being antigen-presenting cells. Labeling of IL-12(+) cells for CD11c, CD205, CD8alpha, CD11b, and F4/80 indicated that the majority were myeloid DCs, although a proportion were CD11c(-) F4/80(+), suggesting that macrophages were an additional source of IL-12 in the skin
Single-shot single-gate RF spin readout in silicon
For solid-state spin qubits, single-gate RF readout can help minimise the
number of gates required for scale-up to many qubits since the readout sensor
can integrate into the existing gates required to manipulate the qubits
(Veldhorst 2017, Pakkiam 2018). However, a key requirement for a scalable
quantum computer is that we must be capable of resolving the qubit state within
single-shot, that is, a single measurement (DiVincenzo 2000). Here we
demonstrate single-gate, single-shot readout of a singlet-triplet spin state in
silicon, with an average readout fidelity of at a
measurement bandwidth. We use this technique to measure a triplet to
singlet relaxation time of in precision donor quantum
dots in silicon. We also show that the use of RF readout does not impact the
maximum readout time at zero detuning limited by the to decay,
which remained at approximately . This establishes single-gate
sensing as a viable readout method for spin qubits
Pattern Formation on Trees
Networks having the geometry and the connectivity of trees are considered as
the spatial support of spatiotemporal dynamical processes. A tree is
characterized by two parameters: its ramification and its depth. The local
dynamics at the nodes of a tree is described by a nonlinear map, given rise to
a coupled map lattice system. The coupling is expressed by a matrix whose
eigenvectors constitute a basis on which spatial patterns on trees can be
expressed by linear combination. The spectrum of eigenvalues of the coupling
matrix exhibit a nonuniform distribution which manifest itself in the
bifurcation structure of the spatially synchronized modes. These models may
describe reaction-diffusion processes and several other phenomena occurring on

New analysis in the field of open cluster Collinder 223
The present study of the open cluster Collinder 223 (Cr 223) has been mainly
depended on the photoelectric data of Claria & Lapasset (1991; hereafter CL91).
This data of CL91 has been used with the cluster's image of AAO-DSS in order to
re-investigate and improve the main parameters of Cr 223. Stellar count has
been achieved to determine the stellar density, the cluster's center and the
cluster's diameter. In addition, the luminosity function, mass function, and
the total mass of the cluster have been estimated.Comment: 12 pages, 8 figure
Adiabatic Quantum Computing for Random Satisfiability Problems
The discrete formulation of adiabatic quantum computing is compared with
other search methods, classical and quantum, for random satisfiability (SAT)
problems. With the number of steps growing only as the cube of the number of
variables, the adiabatic method gives solution probabilities close to 1 for
problem sizes feasible to evaluate via simulation on current computers.
However, for these sizes the minimum energy gaps of most instances are fairly
large, so the good performance scaling seen for small problems may not reflect
asymptotic behavior where costs are dominated by tiny gaps. Moreover, the
resulting search costs are much higher than for other methods. Variants of the
quantum algorithm that do not match the adiabatic limit give lower costs, on
average, and slower growth than the conventional GSAT heuristic method.Comment: added discussion of discrete adiabatic method, and simulations with

Some Systematics of Galactic Globular Clusters
The global properties of all known Galactic globular clusters are examined.
The relationship between the luminosities and the metallicities of Galactic
globular clusters is found to be complex. Among luminous clusters there is a
correlation in the sense that the oldest clusters are slightly more metal
deficient than are younger clusters. However, no such clear-cut relationship is
found among the faintest globular clusters. The central concentration index C
of globular clusters is seen to be independent of metallicity. The dependence
of the half-light radii of globular clusters on their Galactocentric distances
can be approximated by the relation . Clusters with
collapsed cores are mostly situated close to the Galactic nucleus. For kpc the luminosities and the radii of clusters appear to be uncorrelated.
The Galaxy differs from the LMC and the SMC in that it appears to lack highly
flattened luminous clusters. Galactic globular clusters with ages 13.0
Gyr are all of Oosterhoff type II, whereas almost all of those with ages
13.0 Gyr have been assigned to Oosterhoff type I. Globular clusters with ages
11.5 Gyr are all located in the outer Galactic halo, have below-average
luminosities and above-average radii. On the other hand the very old globular
