FPGA based implementation of low complex adaptive speckle suppression filter for B-mode medical ultrasound images

Speckles are considered as noise, which masks the fine information present in B-mode ultrasound images. Speckles appears as small snakes and dense granular like structures which has serious impact on visual perception of an image. Adaptive filter based on local statistics of an image is used to enhance the image by suppressing the noise. Adaptive speckle suppression filter enhance the image by reducing the variance between intrapixel intensities in homogeneous regions and preserving variance across interpixel intensities across the nonhomogeneous regions. In this paper, we implemented low complex adaptive speckle suppression filter on FPGA based kintex7 board. The performance of the filter is evaluated by plotting the pixel variations of original image with filtered image of an ultrasound phantom. The results show that proposed algorithm can be implemented on mobile ultrasound platforms due to 50% less computations needed per pixel compared to traditional adaptive speckle suppression algorithms, which aids better diagnosis for healthcare

SYNTHESIS, MOLECULAR BIOINFORMATICS MODELLING, AND ANTIMICROBIAL EVALUATION OF SOME NOVEL OXADIAZOLE FLUOROQUINOLONE DERIVATIVES

Objective: The present study envisages a series of oxadiazole fluoroquinolone derivatives that were synthesized (D1–D12) with added derivatives such as phenyl, aminophenyl, amino hydroxyphenyl along with cyclopropyl, ethyl, piperazine, and imidazole. Methods: All of the newly produced molecules were characterized by infrared, 1H nuclear magnetic resonance, mass spectrometry, and elemental analysis technique and screened for docking stimulation to find out binding modes of synthesized derivatives with 3FV5, 5IMW, and 5ESE and evaluated for in vitro antimicrobial activity. Results: From this study, it was found that the compound D8 showed good antibacterial activity against Gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus), compound D9 showed good antibacterial activity against Gram-negative (Escherichia coli), and compound D3 showed good antifungal activity against fungi (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) in comparison with standard drugs (Ciprofloxacin and fluconazole). The zone of inhibition and minimum inhibitory concentration studies was performed on synthesized compounds. Conclusion: The analogs of oxadiazole flouroquinolone are suggested to be potent inhibitors with sufficient scope for further exploration

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of NITI mechanical rotary  instrumentation and Hedstrom file for gutta percha removal using dearing techniqueMethod: Forty extracted human single rooted premolar, each with a single canal were selected. The samples were decoronated to leave 17 mm root and Instrumented with K-flles upto MAF 30 using step back technique. Samples were obturated using cold lateral condensation of gutta-perdta and AH Plus sealer. The teeth were then randomly divided Into four groups of 10 specimens each. After 2 weeks all the canals were then retreated by either ProTaper re-treatment files, M--two re-treatment files, R-Endo re-treatment flies or Hedstrom flies. The amount of remaining filling materials after re-treatment procedures was assessed by  stereomlcroscope. Also time required for reaching original working length and for removal of obturating material (in min) was measured. Statistical analysis was accomplished using one way Kruskal-Wallls ANOVA and Mann-Whitney U testResult: M-two re-treatment flies showed least amount of gutta  perdta/sealer followed by Pro Taper re-treatment files, R-Endo  re-treatment flies and Hedstrom files. Conclusion: Under the experimental conditions, significant difference was observed between Pro Taper re-treatment flies&... Complete removal of materials did not occur with any of the instrument systems investigated. Keywords: Clearing technique, re-tteatment, rotary Instrument

Development of a Modular Unit of a Higher Level Framework or Tool for Basic Programming Course Teaching Through E-Learning Mode

This paper reports about the development of a modular unit of a higher level framework or tool whose intended objective is the creation of animated lessons for basic programming (CS1) course in computer science discipline with visual aids. The goal of such lessons is to address the difficulties faced by the novice programmers in CS1 course. This module here after referred to as ‘type writer’allows instructors to render programmes or code snippets in a live typing manner as opposed to their sudden or en-block placement on the presentation area like a Power Point Slide; a commonly used approach in the present day eLearning. This project is planned to be executed in two stages and ‘type writer’ is the outcome of the first stage. This would be combined with another two modules that are planned to be developed in the second stage, to make the complete tool. The entire tool would be developed in Action Script 3.0 language that works on Adobe Flash Platform

Brunner gland hyperplasia of duodenum: A rare case mimicking malignancy with obstruction

    Get PDF
An extremely uncommon benign tumor of duodenum, Brunner gland hyperplasia (BGH), is hereby reported in a 51-year-old male, who presented with recurrent vomiting and epigastric discomfort. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, computed tomography scan abdomen, and clinical presentation were suspicious of a malignant tumor with gastric outlet obstructive symptoms, and hence, pancreaticoduodenectomy was done. Post-operative histopathological examination confirmed it to be BGH
