Stability of switched linear differential systems

We study the stability of switched systems where the dynamic modes are described by systems of higher-order linear differential equations not necessarily sharing the same state space. Concatenability of trajectories at the switching instants is specified by gluing conditions, i.e. algebraic conditions on the trajectories and their derivatives at the switching instant. We provide sufficient conditions for stability based on LMIs for systems with general gluing conditions. We also analyse the role of positive-realness in providing sufficient polynomial-algebraic conditions for stability of two-modes switched systems with special gluing conditions

Inspiration Mining: Intersecting Improbable Connections in a New Landscape of Cultural Reflection and Influence

This article aims to present a critical reflection on the collaborative curatorship of the exhibition “Intersecting Improbable Connections”. It is a transdisciplinary exhibition covering architecture, design, arts, among other fields, and calls for non-linear productive thinking strategies. It explores the intersection of unlikely relationships to inspire memorable visits to museums, and it feeds the Inspædia platform, creating a new landscape of reflection and cultural influence. It advocates a new concept of exhibition curation that minimizes costs (because it does not involve transportation or insurance for the pieces) and is intended to help stimulate creative processes. El reto de vincular reputación online de destinos turísticos con competitividad

The aim of this study is to evidence how 2.0 conversations in social media impact the reputation of destinations. Additionally, the influence of co-creation practices is analysed. The five most competitive destinations worldwide have been chosen for the research. This paper demonstrates that monitoring social media is a challenge in tourism and is a strategic tool to support process decision making and for destination brand building in a sustainable way. Currently, there are several monitoring and analytic tools, but there is a lack of models to systematise and harness it for the Destination Management Organization (DMOs). The bias-extension test for the analysis of in-plane shear properties of textile composite reinforcements and prepregs: a review

The bias-extension test is a rather simple experiment aiming to determine in-plane shear properties of textile composite reinforcements. However the mechanics during the test involves fibrous material at large shear strains and large rotations of the fibres. Several aspects are still being studied and are not yet modeled in a consensual manner. The standard analysis of the test is based on two assumptions: inextensibility of the fibers and rotations at the yarn crossovers without slippage. They lead to the development of zones with constant fibre orientations proper to the bias-extension test. Beyond the analysis of the test within these basic assumptions, the paper presents studies that have been carried out on the lack of verification of these hypothesis (slippage, tension in the yarns, effects of fibre bending). The effects of temperature, mesoscopic modeling and tension locking are also considered in the case of the bias-extension test

User Experience Design Manifesto

The rapid change of the elements of context requires an urgent reflection on "Experience" and "Meaning with Value". The aim of this article is to critically review the User Experience Design (UXD) as a disciplinary field, and contribute by a Manifesto to an inspiring vision of the future. Some authors will be reviewed in order to list and discuss the different ideas to redefine the desirable skills to an enlightened practice and to influence a new ethos of "Be Innovation" to a better world. The article retrieves and revisits a Design Manifesto made on the basis of a strategic vision for Design based on distinctive design competencies.
