Ratminingsih, M.A. Key Words: the development of culture-based reading material This study was a research and development (R&D) which aimed at (1) Investigating the potency and problems of the fifth grade students of elementary schools in Buleleng regency, (2) Developing culture-based reading material for the fifth grade students of elementary schools in Buleleng regency, and (3) Investigating the quality of culture-based reading material for the fifth grade students of elementary schools in Buleleng regency. This study used various instruments such as checklists, scoring rubric, questionnaires, observation sheets, interview guide, and test to gather the data during developing culture-based reading material. This study used the development model proposed by Sugiyono (2011). The material developed in this study was based on the criteria of good reading material proposed by Tomlinson. The results of the study showed that (1) the fifth grade students of elementary schools in Buleleng regency had some potency and problems toward the use of existing reading material, (2) Culture-based reading material was developed by using R&D model proposed by Sugiyono and the development of the material was based on the criteria of good reading material proposed by Tomlinson, and (3) Culture-based reading material had high validity and practicality where the value of validity was 4.25 (Good) and the all values of practicality were more than 4.485 (Excellent) where the implementation of the product was proven to be effective where the mean score of the students in experiment group was higher than the mean score of the students in control group shown by 76.20 > 67.24. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the fifth grade students of elementary schools in Buleleng regency had some potency and problems toward the use of existing reading material. Those potency and problems later underlined the development of culture-based reading material where its development was based on the criteria of good material proposed by Tomlinson and it also had high validity and practicality and was proven to be effective to improve the reading competency of the students

Aplikasi Metode Passive TIME Reversal Mirror Untuk Mengurangi Pengaruh Multipath Pada Komunikasi Akustik Bawah Air

Proses transmisi sinyal komunikasi akustik bawah air terkadang mengalami gangguan yang dikarenakan oleh karakteristik fisik kanal. Pada perairan dangkal keadaan fisik kanal yang paling berpengaruh adalah berupa pantulan sinyal dari permukaan air dan dasar perairan, dimana kejadian ini secara umum dinamakan sebagai multipath effect. Makalah ini menganalisa pengaruh multipath effect terhadap kualitas sinyal komunikasi akustik bawah air serta mengaplikasikan metode passive time reversal mirror (PTRM) sebagai metode pemrosesan sinyal untuk meminimalisir pengaruh multipath effect. Dalam pemodelan, tanki uji tarik kapal digunakan sebagai kanal atau media transmisi sinyal komunikasi akustik. Dimana, jarak antara sumber dan penerima sinyal pada pemodelan divariasikan kedalam tiga jarak komunikasi yaitu 2 m, 4 m , 6 m. Frekuensi sinyal akustik yang ditransmisikan adalah Binary Phase Shift Keying (BPSK) sinyal dengan frekuensi sebesar 10 kHz dan membawa 100 bits simbol transmisi. Sedangkan frekuensi sampel yang digunakan adalah 200 kHz dengan waktu transmisi selama 0.02 s. Dari hasil pemodelan didapatkan bahwa karakteristik kanal dapat dideskripsikan oleh respon impulse kanal pada masing-masing jarak komunikasi. Sedangkan hasil komunikasi mengalami gangguan oleh adanya fenomena multipath effect sehingga didapatkan bit error yang tinggi. Dengan mengapilkasikan metode passive time reversal mirror (PTRM), fenomena multipath effect dan bit error dapat diminimailisir bahkan dihilangkan sehingga kualitas komunikasi akustik bawah air dapat ditingkatkan

Developing Reading Material for Elementary Students in Tourism Area by Inserting Local Culture

This research and development (R&D) aimedat 1) developing reading material for the fifth gradestudents of elementary schools in tourism area, and (2)investigating the quality of the material developed. Togather the data, this study used scoring rubric,questionnaires, observation sheets, interview guide,and test. This study used the development modelproposed by Sugiyono (2011) and was developed basedon the characteristics of good reading materialproposed by Tomlinson (1998). The results showed that(1) reading material was developed by involving someof local contents and (2) reading material had highvalidity and practicality and was proven to be effective.It then can be concluded that to make good quality of areading material, the development of it should involvelocal content and should be based on the criteria ofgood material

Government Expenditure and Poverty in Indonesia

Poverty is a complex and multidimensional problem, so that the necessary effort or Government policies that is sustainable and synergistic to reduce the number of poor population. This study aims to analyze the determinants of poverty in Indonesia based on economic and social indicators. It is using linear regression analysis tool by using multiple Fixed-Effects Model (FEM). The results of the study found that economic growth has a positive effect against poverty in Indonesia. Pengaruh Penempatan dan Kompensasi terhadap Kepuasan Kerja dan Kinerja Karyawan

This study aims to determine the direct effect of placement and compensation to job satisfaction , as well as the direct influence of placement , compensation and job satisfaction on employee performance , then to determine the effect of placement and indirect compensation to employee performance through job satisfaction , as well as to know the total effect of placement and compensation on employee performance . The number of respondents who used amounted to 64 people . Collecting data using the method of observation , questionnaires and interviews . The data analysis technique used is the technique of path analysis ( path analysis ) . The results found that , there is a positive and significant influence directly between placement , compensation and job satisfaction directly influence the placement , compensation and job satisfaction on kinerjakaryawan . Furthermore, it was found that indirectly influence the placement and compensation to employee performance through job satisfaction , as well as in total there pengarauh between placement and compensation to employee performance through employee satisfaction
