Repression and Resistance in Dalit Feminist Literature

    Get PDF
Feminist movements and Dalit feminist movement in India are mainly based on the experience of Repression and gender discrimination. Patriarchy, gender disparity and sexual violence are the basic reasons for these movements and they also find place prominently in the writings of Dalit women as they have come forward to write their experiences from women's point of view around 1980s. Baby Kamble, Urmila Pawar in Marathi, Geeta Nagabhushan in Kannada, P. Shivakami, Bama in Tamil have got national level consideration. Dalit women were raped; insulted and abused by the upper caste people. They are insecure in the society as they have been exploited on the various levels. This feeling of insecurity of the Dalit women is the central theme of their writings. These women writers have come forward to express their ideas, their experiences in social violence as well as in domestic violence and thus they protest their traditional existence with anger and anguish. Geeta Nagabhushan’s dalit novels, Barna’s Sangati (2005), P. Shivakani's Grip of Change (2006) are initial important writings of dalit feminism; Datit feminism writing is different from the conventional way of Feminist writing. Their experiences, expression, method of narration are extremely different from the upper caste women writers. It is found that every woman in the world has been degraded to second grade citizenship. The Dalit women in India suffer more due to their Dalit identity

Design and Analysis of a Composite Monocoque for Structural Performance : a Comprehensive Approach

    Get PDF
Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI)Lately numerous studies have been performed to design composite monocoques with high strength and low weight for various student level racing contests. The objective of this paper is to develop an insightful methodology to design and de veloped a light-weight composite monocoque. The monocoque is designed to pass the mandatory static load tests laid down by the International Automobile Feder ation (FIA)Formula 3. These Formula 3 tests are considered the baseline of the desired structural integrity of the composite monocoque. The presented design tech nique emphasises on a monocoque developed for Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) races. The three standard load tests performed on the monocoque are Survival Cell Side test, Fuel Tank test and Side Intrusion test. A sandwich layup of bi-directional woven carbon/epoxy prepreg and aluminium honeycomb is optimized for minimum weight while predicting the unknown properties of layup and ensuring the mono coque doesnt experience failure. The approach intends to achieve minimum weight with high torsional rigidity and is capable of being used for the design and analysis of any kind of formula type composite monocoque

AbstractA variety of novel 2-methylquinazolin-4(3H)-one derivatives (1–29) bearing urea, thiourea and sulphonamide functionalities at position 3 of biological interest have been synthesized and screened for their anti-inflammatory (TNF-α and IL-6) and antimicrobial activities (antibacterial and antifungal). “Biological evaluation study revealed that the compounds 3, 4, 6, 9, 16 and 18 were found to have promising anti-inflammatory activity (up to 62–84% TNF-α and 73–92% IL-6 inhibitory activity) at concentration of 10μM with reference to standard dexamethasone (75% TNF-α and 84% IL-6 inhibitory activities at 1μM) and 7, 10, 12, 23, 25 and 28 have antimicrobial activity at MIC of 10–30μg/mL against selected pathogenic bacteria and fungi.

A Smart Browsing System with Colour Image Enhancement for Surveillance Videos

    Get PDF
Surveillance cameras have been widely installed in large cities to monitor and record human activities for different applications. Since surveillance cameras often record all events 24 hours/day, it necessarily takes huge workforce watching surveillance videos to search for specific targets, thus a system that helps the user quickly look for targets of interest is highly demanded. This paper proposes a smart surveillance video browsing system with colour image enhancement. The basic idea is to collect all of moving objects which carry the most significant information in surveillance videos to construct a corresponding compact video by tuning positions of these moving objects. The compact video rearranges the spatiotemporal coordinates of moving objects to enhance the compression, but the temporal relationships among moving objects are still kept. The compact video can preserve the essential activities involved in the original surveillance video. This paper presents the details of browsing system and the approach to producing the compact video from a source surveillance video. At the end we will get the compact video with high resolution. Spin-charge and spin-orbital coupling effects on spin dynamics in ferromagnetic manganites

Correlation-induced spin-charge and spin-orbital coupling effects on spin dynamics in ferromagnetic manganites are calculated with realistic parameters in order to provide a quantitative comparison with experimental results for spin stiffness, magnon dispersion, magnon damping, anomalous zone-boundary magnon softening, and Curie temperature. The role of orbital degeneracy, orbital ordering, and orbital correlations on spin dynamics in different doping regimes is highlighted.Comment: 19 pages, 9 figure

Delayed interval twin delivery of a fetus with a favourable neonatal outcome after a preterm delivery of the first twin: a case report

Assisted reproductive techniques have proved to be a boon for infertile couples. With advent of newer techniques, the incidence of successful multiple pregnancies has also risen. Considering the emotional and financial aspects of the treatment and the risk of preterm delivery in such cases, our intent is not only to salvage one of the twins in case of unfortunate preterm delivery of the other but also to deliver a viable second twin with better chance of survival and favourable neonatal outcome. The current case describes a 34-year woman with previous 2 failed IVF conceptions, on external progesterone support, carrying a twin gestation in preterm labour. Upon the inadvertent delivery of the first twin, a cervical cerclage was done, and she was given conservative management, including bed rest and head low position in view of short cervix, with an aim to delay the delivery of the other. An interval of 66 days was achieved with surgical as well as medical management, following which a healthy second twin was born

Fabric Fault Detection Using Digital Image Processing

    Get PDF
This paper helps to detect the fault in fabric. For the good quality of fabric the inspection of fabric is very important .The faults in fabric causes poor quality in fabric. This may affects the economical growth of the Industry. The old methods which are used for fault detection such as Human Visual Inspection, Regular Band based Methodology, Gabor Wavelet Filter Methodology etc which are time consuming &stressful. So to reduce time and stress the new method introduced is Automatic Fabric fault inspection .Due to this method, at the time of manufacturing itself we get high quality fabric it implies the high speed of production. The detection of local fabric defects is one of the most problems in computer vision. For this problem the solution is that at the time of manufacturing fabric in textile the faults present on fabric are identified by MATLAB software using some Image Processing techniques. Image Processing is very helpful because all the techniques applied on the faulty image is useful to acquire fault free image

    Zigbee Technology

    Get PDF
This paper aims at presenting the concept of ZigBee, the name of a specification for a suite of high level communication protocols using small, low - power digital radios based on the IEEE802.15.4 - 2006 standard for wireless personal area networks (WPANs),such as wireless headphones connecting with cell phones via short - range radio. The technology is intended to be simpler and less expensive than other WPANs, such as Bluetooth. ZigBee is targeted at radio - frequency (RF) applications that require a low data rate, long battery life, and secure networking. The ZigBee communication is a communication technology to connect local wireless nodes and provides high stability an d transfer rate due to data communication with low power. In the nodes away from coordinator in one PAN, the signal strength is weak causing the net work a shortage of low performance and inefficient use of resources due to transferring delay and increasing delay time and thus cannot conduct seamless communication
