Bayesian Inference For Exponential Distribution Based On Upper Record Range
This paper deals with Bayesian estimations of scale parameter of the
exponential distribution based on upper record range (Rn). This has been done
in two steps; point and interval. In the first step the quadratic, squared
error and absolute error, loss functions have been considered to obtain
Bayesian-point estimations. Also in the next step the shortest Bayes interval
(Hight Posterior Density interval) and Bayes interval with equal tails based on
upper record range have been found. Therefore, the Homotopy Perturbation
Method(HPM) has been applied to obtain the limits of Hight Posterior Density
intervals. Moreover, efforts have been made to meet the admissibility
conditions for linear estimators based on upper record range of the form mRn+d
by obtained Bayesian point estimations. So regarding the consideration of loss
functions, the prior distribution between the conjunction family has been
chosen to be able to produce the linear estimations from upper record range
statistics. Finally, some numerical examples and simulations have been
presented
Counting flags in triangle-free digraphs
Motivated by the Caccetta-Haggkvist Conjecture, we prove that every digraph
on n vertices with minimum outdegree 0.3465n contains an oriented triangle.
This improves the bound of 0.3532n of Hamburger, Haxell and Kostochka. The main
new tool we use in our proof is the theory of flag algebras developed recently

The role of multiplier bounds in fuzzy data envelopment analysis

The Publisher's final version can be found by following the DOI link.The non-Archimedean epsilon ε is commonly considered as a lower bound for the dual input weights and output weights in multiplier data envelopment analysis (DEA) models. The amount of ε can be effectively used to differentiate between strongly and weakly efficient decision making units (DMUs). The problem of weak dominance particularly occurs when the reference set is fully or partially defined in terms of fuzzy numbers. In this paper, we propose a new four-step fuzzy DEA method to re-shape weakly efficient frontiers along with revisiting the efficiency score of DMUs in terms of perturbing the weakly efficient frontier. This approach eliminates the non-zero slacks in fuzzy DEA while keeping the strongly efficient frontiers unaltered. In comparing our proposed algorithm to an existing method in the recent literature we show three important flaws in their approach that our method addresses. Finally, we present a numerical example in banking with a combination of crisp and fuzzy data to illustrate the efficacy and advantages of the proposed approach
Risk of superior gluteal nerve injury after using ante-grade femoral nailing
Antegrade intramedullary femoral nailing (AIFN) is used as the preferred treatment for diaphyseal and subtrochanteric femur fractures. Nevertheless, clinically important complications associated with obtaining nail entry including loss of hip abductor strength, chronic hip pain, heterotopic ossification and femoral head osteonecrosis have been previously shown.This study was aimed to evaluate the risk of injury to the superior gluteal nerve when Ante-grade femoral nailing is used for insertion. In current study, 25 patients with femoral shaft fractures were included in this study that 21 were male with an average age of 25.40 years, Also 4 cases were female with an average age of 28.20 years. The patients were between the ages of 93 to 05 years. EMG-MCV was taken from all patients and were reported by neurologist. Plain radiographs were taken from all patients. Pain intensity of patients in the last month were identified from 4 to 944 according to the patients statements. The frequency of patients with subjective lameness separately with or no signs was determined. In terms of the pain score, its average among all patients was calculated to be 4.92, while the average of 4.75 among men was calculated. Among women, the average was 5.60. All patients had a mean duration of 3.64 months for using crutches, that the average duration of 3.80 months for men and 3 months for women were calculated.In terms of subjective limping, 15 patients (60) complained from limping, while 10 people were not affected (40 ), of which, 12 patients (80) was belonged to men group and 3 patients (20) were assigned in women group. 5 patients were diagnosed with atrophy of gluteus medius and gluteus minimus muscles that, 3 patients were male (60) and 2 cases (40) were women respectively. EMG-NCV indicated that the Superior gluteal nerve injury had occurred in 2 patients (8) and myogenic damage of gluteus medius and gluteus minimus muscles in 5 patients (20). Surface InP Quantum Dots: Effect of Morphology on the Photoluminescence Sensitivity
Abstract An investigation of the photoluminescence sensitivity of epitaxial surface InP quantum dots grown on In 0.48 Ga 0.52 P buffer layer lattice matched to GaAs substrate is presented. The emission wavelength of such quantum dots can be defined through the quantum dot dimensions in the range 750 – 865 nm. Quantum dot exposure to polar solvent vapour (methanol and ethanol) determines in any investigated case a luminescence intensity enhancement. The response to alcohol vapours affects only the luminescence intensity while peak position and shape remain unchanged. Optimization of the sensor response by tailoring quantum dots size and coverage has been demonstrated

Expression of efflux pumps and fatty acid activator one genes in azole resistant Candida glabrata isolated from immunocompromised patients
Acquired azole resistance in opportunistic fungi causes severe clinical problems in immunosuppressed individuals. This study investigated the molecular mechanisms of azole resistance in clinical isolates of Candida glabrata. Six unmatched strains were obtained from an epidemiological survey of candidiasis in immunocompromised hosts that included azole and amphotericin B susceptible and azole resistant clinical isolates. Candida glabrata CBS 138 was used as reference strain. Antifungal susceptibility testing of clinical isolates was evaluated using Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) methods. Complementary DNA-Amplified Fragment Length Polymorphism (cDNA-AFLP) technology, semiquantitative RT-PCR, and sequencing were employed for identification of potential genes involved in azole resistance. Candida glabrata Candida drug resistance 1 (CgCDR1) and Candida glabrata Candida drug resistance 2 (CgCDR2) genes, which encode for multidrug transporters, were found to be upregulated in azole-resistant isolates (�2-fold). Fatty acid activator 1 (FAA1) gene, belonging to Acyl-CoA synthetases, showed expression in resistant isolates �2-fold that of the susceptible isolates and the reference strain. This study revealed overexpression of the CgCDR1, CgCDR2, and FAA1 genes affecting biological pathways, small hydrophobic compounds transport, and lipid metabolism in the resistant clinical C.glabrata isolates. © 2016 Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Hybrid Integration of GaP Photonic Crystal Cavities with Silicon-Vacancy Centers in Diamond by Stamp-Transfer
Optically addressable solid-state defects are emerging as one of the most
promising qubit platforms for quantum networks. Maximizing photon-defect
interaction by nanophotonic cavity coupling is key to network efficiency. We
demonstrate fabrication of gallium phosphide 1-D photonic crystal waveguide
cavities on a silicon oxide carrier and subsequent integration with implanted
silicon-vacancy (SiV) centers in diamond using a stamp-transfer technique. The
stamping process avoids diamond etching and allows fine-tuning of the cavities
prior to integration. After transfer to diamond, we measure cavity quality
factors () of up to 8900 and perform resonant excitation of single SiV
centers coupled to these cavities. For a cavity with of 4100, we observe a
three-fold lifetime reduction on-resonance, corresponding to a maximum
potential cooperativity of . These results indicate promise for high
photon-defect interaction in a platform which avoids fabrication of the quantum
defect host crystal
