Examining the Relations between Dance and Mathematics among First Class Students
Dance and mathematics are seemingly very distant concepts at first glance. In the theoretical parts of our study we show how strongly mathematics and spatial abil-ities are interrelated, including the correlation between dance and spatial abilities as well. Consequently a hypothesis derives that dance develops spatial abilities, through which it develops mathematical skills at the same time. Our research fo-cused on first year primary school students.During the one month course we applied creative children dance and tasks of move-ment from drama pedagogy. Children’s abilities were measured pre- and after the course classes with a test of both mathematical and spatial skills. According to this research, we could show some improvement in mathematical skills as a result of the development, but there is no significant improvement in spatial skills. We attempted to find out about the reasons of the results we found
Esztétikai elvek preferenciája a táncban
A szakirodalom alapján
A vizsgálatban fényképeket
a művészi képzettségtől a válaszok milyensége.
a koreográfiába.
A tánc Ă©s a matematika elsĹ‘ hallásra kĂ©t, egymástĂłl igen távol állĂł fogalomnak tűnhet. Tanulmányunk elmĂ©leti rĂ©szĂ©ben azt mutatjuk be, hogy a matematikai Ă©s a tĂ©ri kĂ©pessĂ©g között erĹ‘s kapcsolat van, továbbá a tánc Ă©s a tĂ©ri kĂ©pessĂ©g között is kimutathatĂł összefĂĽggĂ©s. EbbĹ‘l viszont az a hipotĂ©zis következik, hogy a tánc fejleszti a tĂ©ri kĂ©pessĂ©get Ă©s ezen keresztĂĽl a matematikai kĂ©pessĂ©get is. Ezt elsĹ‘ osztályos gyermekekkel vizsgáltuk. Az egy hĂłnapig tartĂł foglalkozások során kreatĂv gyermektánc Ă©s mozgásos drámapedagĂłgiai feladatokat használtunk. A gyermekek elĹ‘zetes Ă©s a foglalkozások utáni tudását egy matematikai Ă©s egy tĂ©ri kĂ©pessĂ©geket mĂ©rĹ‘ feladatsorral mĂ©rtĂĽk. Ennek alapján a matematikai kĂ©pessĂ©gek kis mĂ©rtĂ©kben javultak a fejlesztĂ©s hatására, ám a tĂ©ri kĂ©pessĂ©gek nem változtak. Ennek lehetsĂ©ges okait megkĂsĂ©reltĂĽk feltárni
Preference for Aesthetic Principles in Dance
In this study aesthetic preference in dance is investigated from the perspective
of dancers and non-dancers. Aesthetic principles were sought out that, when
applied to a choreography, generatea positive experience for the audience, and it
was investigated whether the experience depends on the artistic qualification of the
spectators. Based on the literature, we assumed that the preference for the golden
ratio, good continuation and symmetry has an advantage over works that do not
have embedded aesthetic principles, and that this preference would be mostly
general and not dependent on the viewer's level of education. Photographs and
video clips were used in the present study, some of which had an embedded
aesthetic principle and some of which did not. As a measurement tool, a
questionnaire was used to gauge participants' opinions along the dimensions of
liking, impact and excitement. The results suggest that people do indeed like it
more when they perceive these aesthetic principles in dance than when they do
not, and that the quality of the responses does not depend on artistic qualifications.
Furthermore, it turns out that if the goal is the greater impact or excitement, it
is more appropriate to incorporate the golden ratio into the choreography. Good
continuity and symmetry are more likely to cause a sense of pleasure than impact
or excitement in the audience
Determination of the STM tip-graphene repulsive forces by comparative STM and AFM measurements on suspended graphene
Graphene grown by chemical vapour deposition is transferred on top of flat gold nanoislands and characterized by scanning tunnelling microscopy (STM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). Graphene bubbles are formed with lateral dimensions determined by the size and shape of nanoislands. These graphene bubbles can be squeezed during STM imaging using bias voltages of less than 250 mV and tunnelling currents of 1 nA. Similarly, the graphene suspended over gold nanovoids is deflected 4-5 nm by the STM tip when imaging at low bias voltages (U = 30 mV). Nanoindentation measurements performed by AFM show that the squeezing of graphene bubbles occurs at repulsive forces of 20-35 nN, and such forces can result in deflections of several nanometres in suspended graphene parts, respectively. Comparing the AFM and STM results, this study reveals that mechanical forces of the order of 10-8 N occur between the STM tip and graphene under ambient imaging conditions and typical tunnelling parameters
