Teach My Children English: Why Parents Want English Teaching for Their Children

This paper describes parents' reasons for sending their children to an English language course, their expectations from the English language instruction, and the disadvantages they perceive in getting their children to learn English at their early ages. A small-scale exploratory survey using questionnaires was conducted among 46 parents whose children learn English at a private course. The results indicate that the majority of the parents are generally aware of the practical values of providing English instruction for their children and hardly perceive any disadvantages in this early English learning. Also, they expect English instruction to enable their children to perform the four language skills, notably speaking. Implications for the young learners' first language as well as the teaching of young learners are then presented. These may offer teachers, parents, and other researchers some important points to consider

Pengaruh Penggunaan Multimedia Pembelajaran Dan Motivasi Belajar Terhadap Hasil Belajar Membaca Text Report Siswa SMP

The objectives of this researh was to know the influences of using the learning multimedia and learning motivation of students learning result of reading report text. Learning multimedia containing scripts of learning materials, flowcharts, and storyboards,and compiling materials.This reseach was the experiment research, the data collection technique through tests acquisition of learning and motivation questionnaire. Based on the results of hypothesis testing proved that: (1) Students learning result of reading text report using Multimedia is better than not using Multimedia, (2). Students learning result of reading text report for high group motivation is better than not using Multimedia, (3) Students learning result of reading text report for low group motivation is better than not using Multimedia, (4) Students learning result of reading text report for high group motivation is better than low group motivation

Pendekatan Metode Bayes untuk Menentukan Jenis Penyakit pada Ternak Babi

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat sebuah model penentuan jenis penyakit yang dialami oleh ternak babi. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode bayes. Gejala-gejala yang digunakan sesuai dengan gejala umum yang terdapat pada ternak babi. Metode penelitian dilakukan dengan proses observasi dan wawancara pada pelaku ternak babi. Selain itu dilakukan wawancara dengan dokter hewan yang mengetahui persis tentang ternak babi. Diambil 2 tempat ternak babi yang ada di Kota Kupang dan 1 di Kabupaten Kupang. Penelitian ini belum mewakili semua ternak babi secara keseluruhan di Kota dan Kabupaten Kupang. Namun bisa dijadikan sebuah model penentuan jenis penyakit sebuah ternah babi.Penelitian ini belum sampai pada sebuah solusi terhadap penyakit ternak babi. Penelitian ini masih dikembangkan sampai pada tingkat diagnosis penykait ternak babi. Dan pada akhirnya dibuatkan sebuah aplikasi. Instructional Aspects and Test Design for Measuring Teaching Ability in Content-based Instruction: a Case Study at Ma Chung University

Content-Based Instruction (CBI) is a fertile research area which calls for more intensive studies, especially in a country where English is a foreign language. Aiming at describing a typical profile of an initial stage of CBI in a private university, this paper reports a descriptive research that identifies instructional aspects of a CBI class, and sketches a preliminary specification of a test for measuring teaching ability in CBI. Qualitative data were collected through observation of the lecture sessions, open-ended questionnaires, and interviews with the students. A vocabulary profile analysis was also done to the lecture materials. The results were used as a basis for the test specification, which was later submitted to experts who judged the contents of the test. Important aspects that emerged from the data concerned linguistic performances, task, lecturer\u27s assistance, and learning obstacles. Accordingly, the test specification puts special emphases on delivery technique, amount of assistance, quality of tasks and rapport with the students

TEKNOLOGI INFORMASI DALAM MENDOKUMENTASIKAN TUTUR BAHASA NGADHA YANG MENGAJARKAN KODE ETIK TEKS LOKAL

This research is an answer to the concern about the extinction of the local text code of ethics in an area. These codes of ethics teach the noble values ​​of the local area. The area taken in this study is Ngada in the central part of Flores Island, NTT Province. Research and documentation of Ngadha speech which teaches a code of ethics for local texts is widely carried out. However, this is only known by some people who speak Ngadha. The community in general knows the local language spoken from the local customary activities that have been passed down from generation to generation. Current generations and future generations do not know the meaning and speech of their own local language which contains the education of Pancasila values. Information technology is currently one of the solutions in documenting and publishing Ngadha speech. There are 160 Ngadha language sayings which have Pancasila educational values. These data are collected from interviews that have been written in book form and translated into Indonesian. A website is created to document digitally for further dissemination which is equipped with a literal and figurative meaning. It is hoped that, now and in the future, both elementary and secondary school children will know the meaning and value of Ngadha language speech. Educators can teach local wisdom values ​​in the form of texts to students. Another goal, for academic interests, both in the field of information technology and philosophy, is the moral responsibility of academics in documenting local content in Ngadha language

Perancangan Perkerasan Concrete Block Dan Estimasi Biaya

Concrete Block merupakan salah satu alternatif lapisan permukaan untuk suatu ruas jalan. Jalan yang akan dirancang dengan menggunakan perkerasan concrete block dan dihitung estimasi biayanya adalah Jalan Raya Lawean – Sukapura dengan panjang total 10 km dengan menggunakan data yang didapat dari Dinas Pekerjaan Umum Bina Marga Propinsi Jawa Timur. Perancangan perkerasan concrete block Jalan raya Lawean – Sukapura ini dengan menggunakan metode Modifikasi Perkerasan Lentur, metode Australian Empiris dan Mechanistic Design dengan memasukkan parameter perancangan jalan: daya dukung tanah yang diperoleh dari nilai CBR tanah dasar, beban lalu lintas yang diperoleh dari lalu lintas harian rata – rata. Perhitungan estimasi biaya berdasar pada Standar Satuan Harga Dasar Konstruksi dan Analisa Harga Satuan Pekerjaan Dinas Pekerjaan Umum Jawa Timur Tahun Anggaran 2011 dan berdasarkan survei di lapangan terhadap produsen concrete block yang memperhatikan kuantitas jenis pekerjaan dan analisa harga satuannya. Melalui metode Modifikasi Perkerasan Lentur, jalan dengan panjang 10 km, lebar 7,5 meter, nilai CBR urugan sebesar 10%, umur rencana 10 tahun, dan menggunakan tebal lapis pondasi atas (batu pecah kelas A) minimum yaitu 20 cm dengan nilai CBR 100%, tebal sand bedding 3 cm, tebal concrete block 8 cm maka diperoleh tebal lapis pondasi bawah 19 cm dan 29 cm sesuai dengan kelandaian setiap stationing. Dari perhitungan estimasi biaya, total biaya pekerjaan perkerasan concrete block sepanjang 10 km dan lebar 7,5 meter adalah Rp 17.678.840.880,0

ANALISIS CASH FLOW DAN KINERJA KEUANGAN DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN DUPONT SYSTEM DI TOKO SEPATU NEW RESTU IBU

This study aims to determine cash flow and financial performance at the New Restu Ibu shoe store in Atambua, Belu, East Nusa Tenggara. The method used in this research is descriptive and quantitative. The analysis technique used is the DuPont System or ROI. The results of the study show that store cash flow based on income statements in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 experienced profits. The financial performance of the New Restu Ibu shoe store using the Du Pont system model for 2016-2019 shows a decline, but Return On Investment (ROI) is above inflation and interest rates
