New method of spectral analysis of human hair

    Get PDF
A new optimal method of preparing one of the human biosubstrates (hair) to an arc atomic emission spectral analysis is proposed on the basis of complex physical and chemical studies. A new method of determining the content of macro- and micro-elements is developed. Following the developed technique we performed analysis of hairs in group of patients in order to diagnose diseases additionally, assess the habitat, and restore the element balance in the body. Comparing the content of elements in the human hair with reference values, it is possible to assess the degree of element imbalance in the body. This technique has passed metrological certification. Obtained by this method results of analysis of hair were used to identify clinical and laboratory correlations, to determine the elemental human status, and to diagnose various diseases

Effect of mechanical activation on the composition if mineral components in humic acids isolated from carbons

It is shown that the mechanical activation of oxidized and brown coals is accompanied by an increase in the yield of humic acids and in their content of functional groups. It was demonstrated by atomic-emission spectroscopy that, under a high-intensity mechanical treatment, mineral elements are redistributed in the coal substance and incorporated into the structure of humic acids

    Complex 99mTc-PDA-DTPA for myocardial imaging

The 123I-labeled fatty acids such as 123I-Iodophenylpentadecanoic acid and 123I-Beta-methyliodophenylpentadecanoic acid are the agents used clinically for myocardial imaging. Fatty acids are the major source of energy for the normal myocardium. However, under ischemic conditions the myocardial cells switch to glucose metabolism for their energy needs. Fatty acids undergo prolonged metabolic stunning in patients with reversible ischemia, thereby helping in early diagnosis of coronary artery disease in highrisk patients. High cost andlimited availability of cyclotron-produced 123I, makes 99mTc-labeled fatty acids more desirable for the purpose. In diagnosis the dominant radionuclide is 99mTc. It is estimated that it is involved in about 85% of all imaging procedures in nuclear medicine. The method for preparation of new 99mTc-fatty chemical systems based on modified diethylene triamine pentaacetic acid (DTPA) molecule has been elaborated in this work . The main advantage using DTPA as chelate agent for radioactive label, is the molecule or it's derivative ability to form sufficiently stable complexes with different radioactive metals including technetium-99. Moiety of pentadecanoic acid addition gave the ability to prepare modified complex of DTPA. In a labeling procedure, freshly eluted Na99mTcO4 (20mCi) was added to a mixture of cysteine, stannous chloride, PDK-DTPA and ethanol in a vial. On keeping the reaction mixture at 90 0C for 30 min, [99mTc-PDK-DTPA] radiopharmaceutical was formed. Thereafter, the reaction mixture was cooled over ice and characterized by HPLC. The result of dynamic scintigraphic research showed, that after being injected, the substance is actively acumulated into myocardium. Eventually one can say that modified DTPA-moleculs are functionally suitable for myocardial imaging

Ion-exchange removal of Fe(III) and Mg(II) in the analysis of rare earth elements in rocks by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry

Tiron has been proposed for the removal of Fe (III) and Mg (II) ions from the test solution by ion exchange in the REE trace analysis in rocks by ICP-MS. The conditions for Fe (III) isolation on a column with anion-exchange resin АВ-17-8,Cl– and for Mg (II) on a column with cation-exchange resin Purolite С100 have been found. The concentration of Fe (III) is reduced up to 10 times, and Mg (II) – more than 100 times. Correction factors have been used in order to eliminate the systematic error in the determination of REE due to their partial sorption on the anion-exchange resin in the form of complexes with Tiron. The correctness and accuracy of the developed sample preparation method and of the correction factors have been confirmed in the analysis of standard samples base on natural geochemical objects

In this paper the contemporary state and the use of voltammetric methods for the determination of organic toxicants on the modified electrodes are shown. A review of works on the application of voltammetric methods for the analysis of environmental objects - water (natural, drinking, waste, etc.), published in the last 5 years, has been made. The main trends in electroanalytical control over the content of toxicants in the waters are noted. The experimental results on the expansion of determined organic toxicants are represented

Atomic emission spectrometer "Grand" for studying the features of accumulation and distribution of chemical elements in objects of animal origin

    No full text
In this paper, the possibilities of using the arc atomic emission spectrometer “Grand” with multichannel emission spectrum analyzers (MAES) in terms of elemental analysis of objects of animal origin are expanded. Metrologically certified methods that have passed preliminary metrological examination were used for research. Of particular interest is the construction of periodic dependences of changes in certain parameters of the objects under study with an increase in the ordinal number of the element determining their structure and organization, as well as the construction on this foundation of predictions about the properties and behavior of living objects when interacting with each other. The features of the distribution of chemical elements as the charge of the atomic nucleus increases are reflected in the internal structure of the periodic system. In this regard, it is established in this work that the dependences of the accumulation and distribution of chemical elements in the studied living organisms with increasing ordinal number of the element in the periodic table of D. I. Mendeleev are also periodic

The article presents the data on development of methods for spectral analysis of human biological substrates in order to determine and restore its elemental balance. The developed method of mass concentration measurement of elements in human biological substrates (hair) by the method of arc atomic emission spectrometry using multichannel analyzer of emission spectra has been submitted for inclusion in the Federal register of RF techniques. By this technique we examined the concentration of macro- and microelements in the hair of 63 patients with ischemic stroke accompanied by depressive disorders (group 1) and post-stroke cognitive impairment (group 2) received in the order of emergency medical care in hospitals. There has been determined the increase of the upper limits of physiological norm of Co, Cd and Al in comparison with the reference values for both groups. In the second group of patients significantly higher content of Cr, Fe, Cd, Pb, Cu, Mn is observed. It is shown the necessity of introduction of new treatment protocols for stroke patients, including macro - and micronutrients to start pharmacological correction treatment as soon as possible
