Theoretical developments on Quartic Gauge Boson Couplings at LEP

The search for quartic anomalous gauge couplings (QAGC) at LEP requires appropriate predictions for the radiative processes e+ e- \to \nu\bar\nu \gamma\gamma, e+ e- \to q\bar{q}\gamma\gamma and e+ e- \to 4 fermions+\gamma. The current knowledge on dimension-six operators giving rise to QAGC is briefly reviewed, together with their implementation in event generators. The accuracy of calculations based on real approximations (used up to now for the LEP experimental analysis) is examined by comparing them with the available exact matrix element calculations.Comment: LaTeX, JHEP style, 5 pag. Yleisötilaisuuden turvallisuussuunnittelu kulttuuriperintökohteessa

Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli kehittää Punkalaitumen Museo- ja Kotiseutuyhdistys Ry:n järjestämän yleisötilaisuuden turvallisuutta. Yhdistys on järjestänyt pitkään vuosittaista yleisötilaisuutta, mutta turvallisuuden luominen ei ole kohdistunut välttämättä suurimpiin riskeihin. Asiakasyhdistyksen kanssa yhteistyössä tehty opinnäytetyö luo yhdistykselle työkaluja kehittää jatkossa toimintansa turvallisuutta itsenäisesti. Opinnäytetyö antaa asiakasyhdistykselle keinot riskienarviointiin ja turvallisuussuunnitelmapohjan tuleville yhdistyksen yleisötilaisuuksille. Tämä opinnäytetyö on toiminnallinen Case-tutkimus. Sen tiedonkeruumenetelmiä ovat Benchmarking ja dokumenttianalyysi. Tietoperustaa on rakennettu tutkimalla aihealueeseen liittyvää lakiperustaa, pelastustoimen ohjeistuksia ja samankaltaisten eri yleisötilaisuuksien turvallisuussuunnitelmia. Opinnäytetyössä kerättyä tietoperustaa on hyödynnetty lait täyttävän ja asiakkaalle toimivan turvallisuusdokumentaation luomiseen. Tavoitteet saavutetaan tutkimalla aluksi laki ja asetukset sekä pelastuslaitosten ohjeistukset yleisötilaisuuksien järjestämisestä. Yhteistyössä asiakasyhdistyksen kanssa laaditaan sen yleisötilaisuudelle riskienarviointi, jotta turvallisuuden kehittäminen osataan jalkauttaa oikeisiin paikkoihin yleisötilaisuuden järjestämisessä. Lopuksi laaditaan turvallisuussuunnitelma, jota asiakasyhdistys voi hyödyntää jatkossa järjestämissään yleisötilaisuuksissa. Tutkimus on kovin yksilöllinen opinnäytetyössä käytetyn asiakasyhdistyksen vuoksi. Opinnäytetyö on tehty lähtökohtaisesti vain asiakkaalle. Yleisötilaisuuksien järjestämistä toki koskevat samat lait ja asetukset myös muille toimijoille, joten tämä opinnäytetyö antaa suuntaviivoja myös heille. Asiakasyhdistykselle jää tämän opinnäytetyön jälkeen suuri tehtävä itselleen järjestää turvallisuussuunnitelman ja sen toimintaohjeiden jalkauttaminen sen jäsenille ja talkoolaisille.The objective of the thesis is to improve the security of a public event organized by Punkalaitumen Museo- ja Kotiseutuyhdistys ry. The association has been organizing the annual event for a long time, but the development of security may not have been aimed towards the major risks. The thesis, created in co-operation with the commissioner, gives the association tools to improve the security of their operations independently in the future. The thesis provides the association with the means to evaluate the risks and a layout for a safety plan for public events organized in the future. This thesis is a functional case study. The research methods used are benchmarking and document analysis. The knowledge base has been created by studying related laws, instructions by rescue services and safety plans for other similar public events. The knowledge base has been used to create a security documentation that meets the demands of the law and is functional for the commissioner. The objectives were reached by studying the law and statutes as well as the instructions by the rescue departments about organizing public events. A risk evaluation was composed in cooperation with the association, so that the development of security can be implemented to the right places during the organizing of a public event. Lastly, a safety plan was created, which can be used for public events in the future. The study is customized because of the commissioner used in the thesis. The thesis has been made mainly for the commissioner. The same laws and statutes apply for the other operators, so this thesis also gives guidelines for them. After this thesis the client association is left with a great task to organize the implementation of the safety plan to its members and volunteers

Optimizing customer service network in consumer services

Tämä diplomityö keskittyy taloudellisesti kannattavimman palvelupisteverkoston löytämiseen kuluttajaliiketoiminnassa. Työ on tehty pakettiliiketoimintaa harjoittavalle logistiikkayritykselle ja sen fokus on verkkokauppojen kuluttajille lähettämissä paketeissa. Menetelmänä työssä käytetään systeemidynamiikkaa. Kirjallisuustutkimuksessa tarkastellaan systeemidynamiikan eroja muihin mallinnus- ja analyysimenetelmiin. Menetelmän avulla rakennettiin matemaattinen, pakettimarkkinaa kuvaava simulaatiomalli. Tutkittava ongelma voidaan jakaa kolmeen osaan: 1. Pakettimarkkinan käytöstä ohjaavien päätössääntöjen löytäminen ja todentaminen, 2. matemaattisen mallin rakentaminen löydettyjen päätössääntöjen pohjalta ja 3. mallin hyödyntäminen palvelupisteverkoston optimointiongelman ratkaisemiseksi. Mallia hyödynnettiin taloudellisesti optimaalisen palvelupisteverkoston tiheyden ja laadun etsimisessä. Menetelmän voidaan katsoa soveltuneen hyvin haasteen ratkaisemiseen. Lopputuloksena asiakkaalle toimitettiin uusi työkalu, jolla pystyttiin arvioimaan palvelupisteverkoston muutosten vaikutuksia taloudelliseen tulokseen, pakettivolyymeihin ja markkinaosuuteen. Työkalua hyödyntämällä löydetty optimaalinen palvelupisteverkosto vaikutti parhaimmillaan tuottavan noin 10% taloudellisen parannuksen alkuperäiseen verkostoon nähden.This thesis focuses on finding the economically most viable service point network in consumer business. The work has been done to a logistics company, and its focus is on the parcel market generated by online shopping. The method used in the research and modelling is system dynamics. The literature study examines the differences of system dynamics and other analytical methods. In order to solve the research problem, a mathematical simulation model that describes the parcel market was built. The research problem could be divided into three parts: 1. Finding and validating the decision making rules that produce the observed behavior in the market, 2. building a mathematical model based on the decision making rules and 3. utilizing the model to solve the service point network optimization problem. The model was then utilized in the search for economically optimal service point network density and quality. The system dynamics method could be considered well suited for this challenge. As a final result, a new tool was presented to the client with which it was possible to assess the impact of changes in service point network to the company’s financial performance, package volumes and market share. According to the model, the found optimal service point network produced a 10% increase in company’s economical result in comparison with the original network

Trends in Teenage Sexual Behavior and Births in Europe

Sexual and reproductive behavior, and outcomes of that behavior, are treated in thisarticle in the framework of sexual and reproductive health. The focus is on teenagers.European trends in sexual behavior and in fertility/births from the 1980s to the late1990s are presented.The transition in sexual initiation started first in the Nordic countries, then in manyWestern European and Central European countries and finally, one generation later,in Southern and Eastern Europe. The age of women at first sexual intercoursedecreased several years almost everywhere in Europe. Due to improvements in sexeducation and in the use of contraceptives, teenage birth rates have been declining,at the same time, around Europe.There is a serious need for sexual health prevention campaigns and related servicesin Europe. Work for improvement of sexual and reproductive health and rights canbe successful only in a society where there is openness and social tolerance onsexual issues
