Controlling Factors Determining The Selective Hscn Addition To Double Bonds And Their Application To The Synthesis Of 7-isothiocyano-7,8-α-dihydro-bisabolene
The reactivity of terminal and trisubstituted double bonds of monoterpenes with HSCN has been examined by GC giving evidence that kinetics is responsible for the chemoselective addition to terminal double bonds in terpenes. The results show that the addition to the terminal double bond is about 17 times faster than for trisubstituted double bonds and that the presence of the first SCN group in the molecule prevents a second addition. The presence of a hydroxyl or methoxy group in the molecule, decreases the reaction kinetics. Based on these kinetic experiments a two steps synthesis of the natural product 7-isothiocyano-7,8-dihydro-α-bisabolene using bisabolol as starting material, was planned and successfully accomplished.125661666Drobnica, L., Kristían, P., Augustín, J., The Chemistry of the Cyanates and Their Thio Derivatives, , Saul Patai Ed., John Wiley & Sons, New YorkEdenborough, M.S., Herbert, R.B., (1988) Nat. Survey Of Acarin Fauna In Dust Samplings Of Curtains In The City Of Campinas, Brazil.
The aim of this study was to investigate the mite fauna present in 33 living room and 22 bedroom curtain dust samples from 41 different homes in the southern Brazilian city of Campinas, SP. A total of 148 mite bodies were found. Of these, 83 were found in living-room curtain samples (56.1% of total) and 65 were in bedroom curtain dust samples (43.9%). The most frequently observed mite suborders were: Acaridida (n = 79; 53.4%), Actinedida (n=53; 35.8%), Oribatida (n=14; 9.5%), and Gamasida (n=2; 1.3%). The most frequent families were Pyroglyphidae (n=61; 41.2%), Eriophyidae (n=25; 16.9%), Tarsonemidae (n=15; 10.1%), and Glycyphagidae (n=13; 8.8%). No statistical difference was observed between the number of mites found in the samples from living room and bedroom curtains.651252
Efficient Quantum Computation using Coherent States
Universal quantum computation using optical coherent states is studied. A
teleportation scheme for a coherent-state qubit is developed and applied to
gate operations. This scheme is shown to be robust to detection inefficiency.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figures, extended and modified (in print, PRA
Discrete teleportation protocol of continuum spectra field states
A discrete protocol for teleportation of superpositions of coherent states of
optical cavity fields is presented. Displacement and parity operators are
unconventionally used in Bell-like measurement for field states.Comment: 12 pages, 1 figur
Trastuzumab-Induced Myocardiotoxicity Mimicking Acute Coronary Syndrome
Trastuzumab is an important biological agent in the treatment of HER2-positive breast cancer, with effects on response rates, progression-free survival, overall survival and quality of life. Although this drug is well tolerated in terms of adverse effects, trastuzumab-associated myocardiotoxicity has been described to have an incidence of 0.6–4.5% and in rare cases, the drug can trigger severe congestive heart failure with progression to death or even mimic acute coronary syndrome with complete left bundle branch blockade. In this paper is reported a case of trastuzumab-associated myocardiotoxicity manifesting as acute coronary syndrome in a 69-year-old female. The patient is currently undergoing a conservative clinical treatment that restricts overexertion
Entanglement study of the 1D Ising model with Added Dzyaloshinsky-Moriya interaction
We have studied occurrence of quantum phase transition in the one-dimensional
spin-1/2 Ising model with added Dzyaloshinsky-Moriya (DM) interaction from bi-
partite and multi-partite entanglement point of view. Using exact numerical
solutions, we are able to study such systems up to 24 qubits. The minimum of
the entanglement ratio R \tau 2/\tau 1 < 1, as a novel estimator of
QPT, has been used to detect QPT and our calculations have shown that its
minimum took place at the critical point. We have also shown both the
global-entanglement (GE) and multipartite entanglement (ME) are maximal at the
critical point for the Ising chain with added DM interaction. Using matrix
product state approach, we have calculated the tangle and concurrence of the
model and it is able to capture and confirm our numerical experiment result.
Lack of inversion symmetry in the presence of DM interaction stimulated us to
study entanglement of three qubits in symmetric and antisymmetric way which
brings some surprising results.Comment: 18 pages, 9 figures, submitte
Scarabaeoidea (Insecta : Coleoptera) in the Brazilian Cerrado : current state of knowledge
Beetles belonging to the superfamily Scarabaeoidea occupy different habitats, present feeding habits diversifi ed, play an important ecological role and several species have agricultural importance. However, studies with this group in the Brazilian Cerrado are scarce. In this review we carried out a survey of scientifi c articles published in the past 30 years concerning Scarabaeoidea in the Cerrado. Were found 64 studies in nine Brazilian states. The studies focused on four main topics: pest species, bioecology, biodiversity and ecological importance, techniques and methodologies for collecting Scarabaeoidea. The results of this review indicate that few studies have been conducted with Scarabaeoidea in the Cerrado in recent decades compared to the importance and diversity of this group of insects
