Genotype, environment and GE interaction effect on soybean oil composition

In addition to genetic effects, the growth environment can significantly affect oil composition. This study addressed the influence of location, planting date, and irrigation on the fatty acid composition of soybean seed oil in genotypes with normal and modified fatty acid levels and evaluated stability of fatty acid composition across environments for the same set of genotypes. Irrigation consistently affected the content of saturated fatty acids. Significant interactions of planting date with locations and genotypes were found for all fatty acids. Genotypes differed in stability of fatty acid profile across environments. Therefore, both mean fatty acid content and stability of fatty acid profile are important traits to evaluate in breeding soybean genotypes with enhanced fatty acid composition adapted to a wide range of growing conditions

A General Framework for Sound and Complete Floyd-Hoare Logics

This paper presents an abstraction of Hoare logic to traced symmetric monoidal categories, a very general framework for the theory of systems. Our abstraction is based on a traced monoidal functor from an arbitrary traced monoidal category into the category of pre-orders and monotone relations. We give several examples of how our theory generalises usual Hoare logics (partial correctness of while programs, partial correctness of pointer programs), and provide some case studies on how it can be used to develop new Hoare logics (run-time analysis of while programs and stream circuits).Comment: 27 page

¿Todavía permanecemos en una revolución estancada?: Un análisis sobre la distribución del trabajo doméstico no remunerado al interior de los hogares, a partir de la Encuesta Nacional sobre la Estructura Social (ENES Pisac)

En 1989 la socióloga estadounidense Arlie Russell Hochschild acuñó el concepto de revolución estancada para referirse a la persistencia de una tradicional división sexual del trabajo doméstico no remunerado al interior de los hogares, a pesar de las transformaciones ocurridas en la participación laboral femenina en el último tercio del siglo XX. En Argentina, los trabajos pioneros de Catalina Wainerman con familias del Área Metropolitana de Buenos Aires entre fines de los años 90 y principios de los años 2000 permitieron trasladar dicho concepto a nuestras latitudes, observando que aún en los hogares nucleares con dos proveedores la gran mayoría del trabajo doméstico no remunerado recaía en las mujeres.La Encuesta Nacional sobre la Estructura Social (ENES), realizada en el marco del Programa de Investigación sobre la Sociedad Argentina Contemporánea (Pisac) entre 2014 y 2015, reúne la evidencia más actualizada a nivel nacional sobre la distribución del trabajo doméstico no remunerado al interior de los hogares. En este sentido, el presente trabajo propone una presentación y análisis de la información provista por dicha encuesta, haciendo foco sobre los hogares nucleares completos y atendiendo a las diferencias entre aquellos que cuenten con uno y dos proveedores. Específicamente, buscaremos responder qué proporción del total de horas de trabajo doméstico destinadas por los hogares asumen los varones del núcleo conyugal, a fin de dilucidar sin en la actualidad aún permanecemos en una revolución estancada.Fil: Oliva, Martin Alejandro. The Near-Infrared Broad Emission Line Region of Active Galactic Nuclei -- I. The Observations

We present high quality (high signal-to-noise ratio and moderate spectral resolution) near-infrared (near-IR) spectroscopic observations of 23 well-known broad-emission line active galactic nuclei (AGN). Additionally, we obtained simultaneous (within two months) optical spectroscopy of similar quality. The near-IR broad emission line spectrum of AGN is dominated by permitted transitions of hydrogen, helium, oxygen, and calcium, and by the rich spectrum of singly-ionized iron. In this paper we present the spectra, line identifications and measurements, and address briefly some of the important issues regarding the physics of AGN broad emission line regions. In particular, we investigate the excitation mechanism of neutral oxygen and confront for the first time theoretical predictions of the near-IR iron emission spectrum with observations.Comment: 45 pages, 17 figures, accepted by ApJ
