Critical Endpoint and Inverse Magnetic Catalysis for Finite Temperature and Density Quark Matter in a Magnetic Background
In this article we study chiral symmetry breaking for quark matter in a
magnetic background, , at finite temperature and quark chemical
potential, , making use of the Ginzburg-Landau effective action formalism.
As a microscopic model to compute the effective action we use the renormalized
quark-meson model. Our main goal is to study the evolution of the critical
endpoint, , as a function of the magnetic field strength, and
investigate on the realization of inverse magnetic catalysis at finite chemical
potential. We find that the phase transition at zero chemical potential is
always of the second order; for small and intermediate values of ,
moves towards small , while for larger it moves
towards moderately larger values of . Our results are in agreement with
the inverse magnetic catalysis scenario at finite chemical potential and not
too large values of the magnetic field, while at larger direct magnetic

Indexación: Scopus.Background. Oral health plays a crucial role in general health, quality of life and well-being of pregnant women and their newborns. In Chile, pregnant women have dental care guaranteed by law. However, due to the lack of previous epidemiological studies on the benefits of this guarantee, it is necessary to describe this situation and evaluate the need to change the methods of providing dental services. Objectives. The objective of this study was to describe the pattern of providing dental benefits resulting from the Explicit Health Guarantee – Integral Oral Health in Pregnant Women (GES-SOIE) program to pregnant women attending the Juan Soto Fernández Family Health Center, Concepción, Chile, in 2014–2015. Material and methods. A cross-sectional study of the electronic dental records of patients admitted to GES-SOIE was conducted. The variables studied were sociodemographic data, dental chair hours, non-attendance, treatment completion, and the type of referral to secondary healthcare (SHC). Results. Of 233 pregnant women, 65.2% were registered for non-attendance, 21.2% required referral to SHC and 76.4% completed their treatment. When performing logistic regression, it was found that for each non-attendance the chance of not completing the treatment increased 1.4 times. Conclusions. The level of non-attendance and opting out of the treatment in pregnant women is high, which hinders the proper functioning and effectiveness of GES-SOIE. © 2018 by Wroclaw Medical University and Polish Dental Society.http://www.dmp.umed.wroc.pl/en/article/2018/55/2/179
The TNG Near Infrared Camera Spectrometer
NICS (acronym for Near Infrared Camera Spectrometer) is the near-infrared
cooled camera-spectrometer that has been developed by the Arcetri Infrared
Group at the Arcetri Astrophysical Observatory, in collaboration with the
CAISMI-CNR for the TNG (the Italian National Telescope Galileo at La Palma,
Canary Islands, Spain).
As NICS is in its scientific commissioning phase, we report its observing
capabilities in the near-infrared bands at the TNG, along with the measured
performance and the limiting magnitudes. We also describe some technical
details of the project, such as cryogenics, mechanics, and the system which

Polarized Broad-Line Emission from Low-Luminosity Active Galactic Nuclei
In order to determine whether unified models of active galactic nuclei apply
to low-luminosity objects, we have undertaken a spectropolarimetric survey of
of LINERs and Seyfert nuclei at the Keck Observatory. The 14 objects observed
have a median H-alpha luminosity of 8x10^{39} erg/s, well below the typical
value of ~10^{41} erg/s for Markarian Seyfert nuclei. Polarized broad H-alpha
emission is detected in three LINERs: NGC 315, NGC 1052, and NGC 4261. Each of
these is an elliptical galaxy with a double-sided radio jet, and the
emission-line polarization in each case is oriented roughly perpendicular to
the jet axis, as expected for the obscuring torus model. NGC 4261 and NGC 315
are known to contain dusty circumnuclear disks, which may be the outer
extensions of the obscuring tori. The detection of polarized broad-line
emission suggests that these objects are nearby, low-luminosity analogs of
obscured quasars residing in narrow-line radio galaxies. The nuclear continuum
of the low-luminosity Seyfert 1 galaxy NGC 4395 is polarized at p = 0.67%,
possibly the result of an electron scattering region near the nucleus.
Continuum polarization is detected in other objects, with a median level of p =
0.36% over 5100-6100 A, but in most cases this is likely to be the result of
transmission through foreground dust. The lack of significant broad-line
polarization in most type 1 LINERs is consistent with the hypothesis that we
view the broad-line regions of these objects directly, rather than in scattered

A symplectic realization of the Volterra lattice
We examine the multiple Hamiltonian structure and construct a symplectic
realization of the Volterra model. We rediscover the hierarchy of invariants,
Poisson brackets and master symmetries via the use of a recursion operator. The

Stationary motion of a self gravitating toroidal incompressible liquid layer
We consider an incompressible fluid contained in a toroidal stratum which is
only subjected to Newtonian self-attraction. Under the assumption of
infinitesimal tickness of the stratum we show the existence of stationary
motions during which the stratum is approximatly a round torus (with radii r, R
and R>>r) that rotates around its axis and at the same time rolls on itself.
Therefore each particle of the stratum describes an helix-like trajectory
around the circumference of radius R that connects the centers of the cross
sections of the torus
