    Impact of Organization and Career Commitment on Clinical Nursing Competency

    Background: The majority of nurses are employed at medical institutions and acquire clinical competency through their work within their organization. Hands-on experience in the clinical setting is essential to enhance a nurse’s clinical competence. The objective of this study was to determine the impact of commitment to the practical skills of nurses within Tottori prefecture. Methods: We studied data from 916 nurses employed at 7 publicly-funded medical facilities (national and other public institutions). Data on basic information, clinical nursing competence, and commitment were collected via an anonymous self-administered questionnaire. Results: A total of 672 valid questionnaires were analyzed. Mean clinical nursing competence scores showed a tendency to increase with years of experience. Scores increased from years 1 to 4, and then tended to plateau or decrease slightly thereafter up to around year 9. Mean commitment scores decreased from 1 to 2 years of experience to 3 to 4 years of experience. Other than “normative factors,” mean scores tended to increase after 5 to 10 years of experience. Multiple regression analysis showed that “job involvement” at 1 to 2 years; “overall job satisfaction” at 5 to 9 years; “career commitment” at 10 to 19 years; and “job involvement” and “career commitment” at ? 20 years impacted results. No factors appeared to have an influence on nurses in their 3rd to 4th year of experience. Conclusion: Based on the concepts described above, self-assessment of nursing competence scores tended to improve with years of experience. Mean commitment scores tended to decrease after 3 to 4 years of experience and thereafter plateaued or increased. Organizational commitment has not clearly been shown to affect nursing competency, but the factors that affect this parameter changed with the length of experience. Results suggest support is needed in the 1st and 2nd years to help nurses adapt to the organization while in years 5 through 9, support that takes work-life balance into consideration is needed. This indicates support should change to meet the needs of each stage in a nurse’s career. In years 3 to 4, it was suspected that the nurses’ relationship with the organization weakened. Helping nurses forge a good relationship with their organization is believed to be effective in improving clinical competency in nurses with 5 or more years of experience

    There are well known that Wnt signaling was some roles of cell differentiation at the development tissues, especially the oral and maxillofacial regions of some developmental stages. Therefore, to determine Wnt signaling in the pleomorphic adenoma tissues, we examined. The expression of Wnt1 and β-catenin as well as the distribution of various cytoskeletal proteins CK7 and CK13 was examined in 30 cases of pleomorphic adenoma by immunohistochemistry. Wnt1 was detected in almost all tumor cells. The peripheral columnar cells in squamous metaplasia and small cuboidal cells in duct-like structures were strongly positive to Wnt1. Although β-catenin was clearly localized on the cell membrane of tumor cells, nuclear translocation was observed in small cuboidal cells and in some basaloid cells. The immunofluorescent staining pattern of Wnt1 and CK7 as well as Wnt1 and CK13 was consistent with IHC results. Thus, in pleomorphic adenoma, Wnt is involved in tumor cell differentiation of peripheral columnar cells forming solid nests and small peripheral columnar cells forming duct-like structures. Moreover, among the three currently known Wnt pathways, β-catenin is the suggested pathway working during cell differentiation. Furthermore, peripheral columnar cells in solid tumor nests and in squamous metaplasia are governed by another Wnt pathway other than β-catenin. Therefore, Wnt signaling through β-catenin pathway may be involved in the ‘mixed’ differentiation characteristic of pleomorphic adenoma although another pathway may also be possibly working in other parts of the tumor tissue.2014博士(歯学)松本歯科大

    Nature and Happiness Levels: New SWB Domains for Rivers, a Lake, and Forests

    By using a questionnaire survey, we measured nature-related happiness levels, which include specific domains that differ from the overall subjective well-being (SWB) in a Japanese watershed. We regarded nature-related happiness levels, specifically related to rivers, a lake, or forests, as meaningful indices because many people living separated from nature may be unaware of their relationship with nature. We found that nature-related happiness levels had convergent validity and distinct correlation patterns with the explanatory variables, and these patterns were different from those of the overall SWB. These findings support the case of measuring nature-related happiness levels and overall SWB. Nature-related happiness levels were positively correlated with leisure activities and contact with living things. The abundance of rivers in a district is negatively associated with river-related happiness. We speculated that this was due to unidentified disservices associated with the rivers. Lake-related happiness has stronger correlations with relaxation benefits than symbolism, local food culture, art/culture, or water sources. Considering these findings, policymakers should formulate policies based on nature-related happiness levels. Because nature-related happiness levels are not correlated with income level, such policies may contribute to residents’ well-being in an egalitarian manner

    看護学生における保健行動の概念の構成要素の文献検討

    本研究の目的は、看護学生における保健行動の概念が持つ構成要素を文献学的に明らかにし、看護学生に対する保健行動を高める支援を考察することである。キーワードを「看護学生」「保健行動」「健康管理」「健康増進行動」とし、選定した論文から看護学生の保健行動の『概念の特性』『関連要因』『期待される効果』に関する記述について分析を行った。 分析の結果、看護学生における保健行動として、【睡眠・休息の確保】【予防・対処・モニタリング行動】などの13 の概念の特性が抽出された。関連要因の要素として、≪学習進度≫≪保健行動に対する意識≫など、期待される効果には、〈学生自身の健康状態が良好になる〉などが抽出された。これらの結果より、看護学生特有の概念の特性があること、【予防・対処・モニタリング行動】や〈HealthLocus of Control〉に重点をおいた支援が重要であり、実習開始前の早期支援が看護学生には効果的であることが示唆された

    Antigenic Change in Human Influenza A(H2N2) Viruses Detected by Using Human Plasma from Aged and Younger Adult Individuals

    Human influenza A(H2N2) viruses emerged in 1957 and were replaced by A(H3N2) viruses in 1968. The antigenicity of human H2N2 viruses has been tested by using ferret antisera or mouse and human monoclonal antibodies. Here, we examined the antigenicity of human H2N2 viruses by using human plasma samples obtained from 50 aged individuals who were born between 1928 and 1933 and from 33 younger adult individuals who were born after 1962. The aged individuals possessed higher neutralization titers against H2N2 viruses isolated in 1957 and 1963 than those against H2N2 viruses isolated in 1968, whereas the younger adults who were born between 1962 and 1968 possessed higher neutralization titers against H2N2 viruses isolated in 1963 than those against other H2N2 viruses. Antigenic cartography revealed the antigenic changes that occurred in human H2N2 viruses during circulation in humans for 11 years, as detected by ferret antisera. These results show that even though aged individuals were likely exposed to more recent H2N2 viruses that are antigenically distinct from the earlier H2N2 viruses, they did not possess high neutralizing antibody titers to the more recent viruses, suggesting immunological imprinting of these individuals with the first H2N2 viruses they encountered and that this immunological imprinting lasts for over 50 years

    ヒューマン・マシン・データ共生科学研究センターは、我が国が目指すべき新しい未来社会の姿として提唱されているSociety 5.0(各種情報技術と人間行動を統合した人間中心の社会)を視野に、人間と情報環境との調和的な共生の実現に向けた基盤研究を推進することを目的とする。特に、神経科学、データ工学、スポーツ科学の研究手法を基盤とした分野横断的な共同研究を組織し、脳生体信号を情報環境に活用するブレイン・マシン・インタフェース(Brain–Machine Interface; BMI)のための基盤研究と、人間の運動や健康データの人工知能(Artificial Intelligence; AI)分析をソーシャルネットワーク上で応用する研究を、並行して進める。具体的な研究テーマとして、1)脳活動および各種生体信号に基づく情報環境の実現に向けた基盤研究、2)Health・Social データのAI 分析および社会的応用に関する研究、に取り組む。本稿では、令和4 年度の研究の成果をテーマごとにまとめて報告する。departmental bulletin pape
