Exploring the bulk of tidal charged micro-black holes
We study the bulk corresponding to tidal charged brane-world black holes. We
employ a propagating algorithm which makes use of the three-dimensional
multipole expansion and analytically yields the metric elements as functions of
the five-dimensional coordinates and of the ADM mass, tidal charge and brane
tension. Since the projected brane equations cannot determine how the charge
depends on the mass, our main purpose is to select the combinations of these
parameters for which black holes of microscopic size possess a regular bulk.
Our results could in particular be relevant for a better understanding of

How rare is isolated rheumatic tricuspid valve disease?
The incidence of rheumatic fever (RF) has markedly decreased in Europe since the beginning of the 20th century due to improved living conditions, early antibiotic therapy in streptococcal pharyngitis, and changes in serotypes of circulating streptococci. Isolated outbreaks of RF are still found in various parts of the world and the disease has changed its presentation with milder joint symptoms and subclinical carditis that make the correct diagnosis more difficult. Patients can present many years later with severe valve disease and significant disability. This article presents a case of isolated rheumatic tricuspid valve disease that presented with signs and symptoms of right heart failure and severe valve damage. Isolated involvement of the tricuspid valve is rarely found in rheumatic fever and a thorough differential diagnosis is needed
Finasteride as a model for personalized medicine
The side effects of Finasteride are currently a subject of controversy. Some studies report minor or acceptable adverse effects, which decrease after a variable period of time so that they do not necessitate terminating Finasteride administration. However, several clinical and neuro-endocrine studies show that some adverse effects persist indefinitely in the form of post-Finasteride syndrome, even after the drug cessation. This paper presents a possible explanation for these inconsistent findings. First, the study design of either informing or not informing patients prior therapy about possible adverse effects can influence the incidence and magnitude of reported adverse effects. Second, structural and information dichotomies of the brain generate four distinct neuronal networks, which are activated through specific cerebral neuromodulators and that are able to support four distinct minds within an individual body. As a conclusion, the âmind psychophysiologyâ and the corresponding mental impairments differ across individuals, such that not only the prediction of adverse effects should be addressed from a more individualized medical perspective, but also the therapeutic strategies could be tailored to the four distinct mental profiles described. It is a personalized approach that would be applicable to several interrelated domains of neuroscience, like psychology, psychiatry and sexuality. Finally, this perspective may represent a starting point for a more individualized understanding of mental events, perhaps even a step forward in the understanding of the mind-body problem
Endothelial dysfunction in adolescents and young adults with nonalcoholic liver disease
Nonalcoholic liver disease is a global public health problem that increases cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in these patients. This paper discusses endothelial dysfunction among patients (adolescents and young adults) with nonalcoholic liver disease.
On the one hand, evidence suggests that cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of mortality in patients with advanced nonalcoholic liver disease and that nonalcoholic fatty liver is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease independent of the presence of cardiovascular risk factors and metabolic syndrome components.
On the other hand, nonalcoholic liver disease, especially the non-inflammatory form of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, may not only be a marker of cardiovascular damage but also a factor involved in its pathogenesis. Such patients are candidates not only for the treatment of liver disease but also for the early treatment of cardiovascular risk factors because many of them, especially those with severe nonalcoholic liver disease, will develop major cardiovascular events and may eventually die of cardiovascular disease before the advanced liver disease occurs
Pelvic floor disorders in gynecological malignancies. An overlooked problem?
Cervical, endometrial, ovarian, vulvar, and vaginal cancers affect women of a broad age spectrum. Many of these women are still sexually active when their cancer is diagnosed. Treatment options for gynecological malignancies, such as gynecological surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, are proven risk factors for pelvic floor dysfunction. The prevalence of urinary incontinence, fecal incontinence, and sexual dysfunction before cancer treatment is still unclear. Hypotheses have been raised in the literature that these manifestations could represent early symptoms of pelvic cancers, but most remain overlooked even in cancer surviving patients.
The primary focus of therapy is always cancer eradication, but as oncological and surgical treatment options become more successful, the number of cancer survivors increases. The quality of life of patients with gynecological cancers often remains an underrated subject. Pelvic floor disorders are not consistently reported by patients and are frequently overlooked by many clinicians. ABOUT LARGE INTEGRATION OF SMALL RESIDENTIAL PHOTOVOLTAIC ENERGY CELLS INTO SEN
The increase in domestic electricity consumption have forced the power industry to examine its health. The context is: The climate change exigencies and his threat to the survival of humanity is real; the fossil resources are mostly, politically controlled; In return, the rise of renewable technologies and its the democratic geographical distribution feature is a huge advantage: sun shines everywhere for everyone! Conclusion: mankind is at the turning point of its energy future. And the future power systems sould be a tissue of intelligent energy cells. In Romania (3GW wind and 1,3GW solar - large plant) it is a fear about more renewables, special wind. One root of this fear could be the gap between Romanian authorities: one authorithy establish rules without considered facts and the other authority must oparate in a hostile âenviromnentâ. To get an independently opinion about these facts weâll look on SEN. More, we had to compare the German toward Romanian legislation in the matter of renewables. Further we compare the actual SEN with a future one that is the actual national energy system with an added 1,7GW photovoltaic. Here, this new added photovoltaic are like the other 1,3GW active now ĂŽn SEN. Another step further, we will model this hipothetical SEN with new 1,7Gw, but not large but small residential photovoltaic cell with storages. From here two conclusions comes out
Determination of pyrrolizidine alkaloids in dietary sources using a spectrophotometric method
Pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs) are a class of toxic compounds found in the composition of more than 6000 plants. People can be exposed to PAs by consuming phytotherapeutic products, food from crops contaminated with seeds of some species with high content of PAs, and/ or contaminated animal products like bee products. For this reason we developed and validated a method for quantitative determination of PAs, from the most frequently contaminated food sources, honey and flour. Colorimetric Ehrlich reagent method was used with standard addition (1mg/kg senecionine). The extraction solvent was methanol 50% acidified with citric acid to pH 2-3, as this solvent can be used for alkaloids and N-oxides. We found that, in extracting the alkaloid only once from the dietary sources, the percent of recovery is low (52.5% for honey, and 45.75% for flour). Using successive extractions, three times with the same solvent, the senecionine retrieval percentage increased to 86.0% for honey and 76.0% for flour. The method was validated using the following parameters: selectivity, linearity (0,25- 20 mg/ mL senecionine), accuracy (average recovery 93.5 - 107.93%) and precision (RSD 3,26-4.55%.). The calculated limit of quantification (0.174 mg/ mL) makes this method applicable for determining Pas occurring at toxic levels for consumers
