Gravitational Waves in the Spectral Action of Noncommutative Geometry

The spectral triple approach to noncommutative geometry allows one to develop the entire standard model (and supersymmetric extensions) of particle physics from a purely geometry stand point and thus treats both gravity and particle physics on the same footing. The bosonic sector of the theory contains a modification to Einstein-Hilbert gravity, involving a nonconformal coupling of curvature to the Higgs field and conformal Weyl term (in addition to a nondynamical topological term). In this paper we derive the weak field limit of this gravitational theory and show that the production and dynamics of gravitational waves are significantly altered. In particular, we show that the graviton contains a massive mode that alters the energy lost to gravitational radiation, in systems with evolving quadrupole moment. We explicitly calculate the general solution and apply it to systems with periodically varying quadrupole moments, focusing in particular on the the well know energy loss formula for circular binaries.Comment: 15 pages, 3 figure

Comportamiento de la presión intracraneana después de craniectomía descompresiva en pacientes con trauma craneoencefálico severo

44 Páginas.En este estudio de serie de casos se describen los valores de la presión intracraneana hasta 24 horas después de cirugía en 21 pacientes con trauma craneoencefálico severo a quienes se realizó craniectomía descompresiva y fueron monitorizados en la unidad de cuidado intensivo. RESULTADOS: La prevalencia de pacientes con hipertensión intracraneana (PIC > 20 mmHg) posterior a la craniectomía fue del 23,8% (n = 5) calculada con base en el promedio de PIC. Sin embargo el 71.4 % de los pacientes (n = 15) en algún momento de la monitoria después de la craniectomía registraron picos de hipertensión intracraneana. CONCLUSIONES: Después de craniectomía descompresiva un grupo significativo de pacientes al final de las 24 horas presentan picos de hipertensión endocraneana

Constraining the Noncommutative Spectral Action via Astrophysical Observations

The noncommutative spectral action extends our familiar notion of commutative spaces, using the data encoded in a spectral triple on an almost commutative space. Varying a rather simple action, one can derive all of the standard model of particle physics in this setting, in addition to a modified version of Einstein-Hilbert gravity. Thus, noncommutative geometry provides a geometric interpretation of particle physics coupled to curvature. In this letter we use observations of pulsar timings, assuming that no deviation from General Relativity has been observed, to constrain the gravitational sector of this theory. Thus, we directly constrain noncommutative geometry, a potential grand unified theory of physics, via astrophysical observations. Whilst the bounds on the coupling constants remain rather weak, they are comparable to existing bounds on deviations from General Relativity in other settings and are likely to be further constrained by future observations.Comment: 5 pages; slightly shorter version to match the one will appear in Phys. Architecture for managing AAS-based business processes

Industries frequently encounter the need to orchestrate services provided by devices as business processes. These industrial business process models need to meet Industry 4.0 (I4.0) specifications to handle unpredictable scenarios in the manufacturing process. Asset Administration Shell (AAS) is considered the cornerstone of interoperability between machines and applications that compose manufacturing systems. AAS facilitates the digitization of physical things (assets) for virtual representation, turning an object into an I4.0 component. This paper investigates the usage of AAS in the context of business process orchestration and a proposal is presented based on those drawbacks. The contributions of this paper are 1) Present an architecture for the management of AAS-based business processes. 2) Introduce an AAS Submodel template that enables the description and registration of the RestServices of an asset. 3) Present a plugin for Camunda Modeler that enables the Service-Discovery mechanism from a chosen AAS repository and maps assets services into BPMN Service-Tasks. And, 4) Outline opportunities for future work between AAS and business process management systems with a primary focus on context-aware capabilities for enhancing the dynamicity of workflows

Modelling Genetic Improvement Landscapes with Local Optima Networks

Local optima networks are a compact representation of the global structure of a search space. They can be used for analysis and visualisation. This paper provides one of the first analyses of program search spaces using local optima networks. These are generated by sampling the search space by recording the progress of an Iterated Local Search algorithm. Source code mutations in comparison and Boolean operators are considered. The search spaces of two small benchmark programs, the triangle and TCAS programs, are analysed and visualised. Results show a high level of neutrality, i.e. connected test-equivalent mutants. It is also generally relatively easy to find a path from a random mutant to a mutant that passes all test cases

Management proposal for school coexistence from conflict provision in the high school section of Colegio San Pedro Claver de Bucaramanga

La presente investigación tiene como propósito estructurar una propuesta de gestión de la convivencia que coadyuve a la provención del conflicto, mediante la articulación de la justicia restaurativa y la mediación escolar, para la sección de bachillerato del Colegio San Pedro Claver de Bucaramanga. La investigación resalta la importancia de formar a los estudiantes para la convivencia desde la provención del conflicto, a través de procesos que ayuden a los estudiantes a desarrollar las competencias emocionales y sociales necesarias para la resolución de los conflictos que surgen en su dinámica estudiantil, y a la vez, sean una oportunidad para fomentar y fortalecer la civilidad en una cultura de paz que tanto anhelamos; además articula las prácticas de los principios y valores de la justicia restaurativa con la mediación entre pares en la resolución pacífica y justa de los conflictos, de tal manera que se identifiquen y atiendan las necesidades de las partes involucradas para beneficio de toda la comunidad. La investigación es de tipo cualitativo y de enfoque investigación-acción; el resultado hallado mediante la aplicación de grupos focales, entrevistas y análisis documental, muestra los factores más comunes que generan conflicto entre los estudiantes, las actitudes de los alumnos que facilitan y dificultan el abordaje adecuado del conflicto, y las estrategias que implementan los profesores en la resolución de conflictos entre escolares. The research highlights the importance of training students for coexistence from the provision of conflict, throughout processes that help students to develop emotional and social competencies necessary for the resolution of conflicts that arise in the student’s dynamics. At the same time, they are an opportunity to foster and strengthen civility in a culture of peace that we yearn for. It also articulates the practice of the principles and values of restorative justice with peer mediation in the peaceful and just resolution of conflicts, in such a way that the needs of the parties involved are identified and addressed to the benefit of the entire community. This research is a qualitative type and with an action-research approach; the result was found through the application of focus groups. The interviews and documentary analysis shows the most common factors that generate conflict among students, the attitudes of students that facilitate and hinder an adequate approach to conflict, and the strategies that teachers implement in the resolution of conflicts among schoolchildren. Finally, the proposal for the management of coexistence from conflict provision, restorative justice, and school mediation is presented as a way of re-establishing relations and creates a culture of peace that favors the environment in the educational institution
