Digital Maturity and SMEs: evaluating the application of a digital maturity assessment tool
The challenges of undertaking digital transformation within Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are multiple. The constraints of limited resources and a lack of clear strategic purpose for the transformation are readily evident across many existing case studies. Underlying these evidenced challenges is the persistent issue of the digital maturity of an overall organisation and its people individually as key factors in the success or failure of these change projects. We examine the use of a digital maturity assessment tool within an established membership-based SME to understand these many challenges and the way they are revealed through tools of this kind. We utilise a reflective approach based on direct organisational observations to consider the veracity and value of these assessment tools in supporting the drive for positive organisational change. Our conclusions are loosely critical of the generalised nature of these tools but support their intended purpose through the benefits that they generate through a Hawthorne Effect
Foreign Aid and Aid Policy effectiveness on Economic Growth of Ghana.
The concept of foreign aid became a fundamental component of international affairs and an essential instrument to rebuild the world after the World War II. Many developing countries
including Ghana depend on it in order to support their budget or finance economic projects and programmes in their countries. The study examines the impact of foreign aid inflow on economic growth for the Ghanaian economy for the period 1975 to 2010 by adopting the Burnside and Dollars
model. We indicated that foreign aid has a positive but insignificant effect on economic growth of Ghana. The study concludes by examining and recommending important policy issues that must be given thorough attention in order to achieve significant impact of aid on Ghana’s economic growth
Poverty and Regional Inequality in Ghana: A Review.
Poverty is one of the most familiar and enduring conditions known to humanity. Some researchers view it as a reaction to the stress of being poor, whereas others perceive it as a process of adapting to the condition of poverty. In this paper, we review the regional Poverty and Inequality disparities in Ghana. We concluded that, the annual cash income concept is a poor indicator of the lifetime resources and hence, consumption may not fully reflect a family’s true well-being

Assessing the Challenges Heads of Department Encounter in Instructional Supervision in Ghana. A Case of Selected Senior High Schools in Kwabre East District
The purpose of the study was to assess the challenges HoDs in Senior High Schools face during instructional supervision. In so doing, the study employed case study and used mixed method approach. In all a total of 92 questionnaires were administered with a response rate of 75.40%. The population consisted of School Heads /Assistant Heads, HoDs and Teachers drawn from the three study areas. 45.55% of HoDs “agreed” or “strongly agreed” as against 44.82% either “disagreeing” or “strongly disagreeing” that HoDs face a myriad of challenges that are hindering their efforts. The opinion of the 45.55% was confirmed by 60% school heads/ assistants and nearly 60% teachers as against a little over 25% teachers and similar percentage of school heads /assistant heads disagreeing and apparently supporting the views of the 44.82% HoDs above. HoDs employed varied strategies to overcome some of their challenges. Majority of the respondents believed that HoDs are not adequately empowered to perform creditably and for which over 50% of them think that they are performing to some extent. Resultantly, the study recorded the satisfaction level of HoDs with their condition of service as 35% “moderate”, 35% to a “small” extent and 30% to a “great” or “very great” extent. The study concludes that HoDs must be empowered enough to perform their roles successfully for better results. Technological shocks mechanism on Macroeconomic Variables: A Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (DSGE) approach.
As Ghana assumes a position of oil producer and middle-income country, it must learn to effectively deal with the related pressures from shocks. We analyze the effects of productivity shocks on Ghana’s total output using the multi-sector dynamic stochastic general equilibrium (DSGE) model. It was actualized that a productivity shock results in a temporary shrinkage in the final goods sectors due to the reallocation of labour from the final and intermediate goods sectors. We demonstrated that technological shock induces an initial fall in marginal cost of production but later rises to reach equilibrium
