Mutual Funds in Romania in 2010

    Get PDF
The purpose of this paper is to analyse the situation of mutual investment funds in Romania, in the context of the year 2010, when Romania is a member state of the European Union and in the midst of a financial crisis. In the analysis done we've used the statistical data regarding the evolution of investments in mutual funds done in Romania during the last few years. The main conclusions  are:  the  market  ratio  in  the  beginning  of  the  year  2010  is  in  favour  of  the diversified funds; certain bond funds surpassed the yields of the bank deposits, and the share funds had yields of 100% in 2009, but drew a small number of new investors

The Role of miRNAs in Diagnosis, Prognosis and Treatment Prediction in Cervical Cancer

    Get PDF
Cervical cancer represents one of the major problems of health women worldwide, especially in the developing countries. If discovered in its earliest stages, cervical cancer is successfully treatable; however, due to lack of proper implementation of screening programs, the majority of cervical cancer patients are diagnosed in advanced stages, which dramatically influence their outcome. Almost a half of these patients will suffer recurrence or metastasis in the following 2 years after therapy. If there are no immediate prospects in terms of developing new or more effective therapies, identifying new tools for early diagnosis, prognosis and treatment prediction remains a big challenge for cervical cancer. miRNAs have been validated to be key players in cell physiology, alterations in miRNA expression being associated with cancer progression and response to therapy. Cervical cancer studies have showed that alterations of miRNA expression can be identified in tumor tissues, exfoliated cervical cells and patients serum and that their transcription pattern is regulated by the present HPV genotype. Furthermore, miRNAs have been associated with patients response to therapy, therefore suggesting their potential to be used as biomarkers for cervical cancer diagnosis, prognosis and treatment response

The ethics of tax accounting. Is there a conflict?

    Get PDF
Until the last century, the business environment use a variety of tax engineers in order to distort the tax base. The starting point in calculating taxes are accounting information but in accounting, ethics standards are based on integrity, fairness and impartiality. Can be considered taxation the main factor of accounting truth distortion or the engine of creative accounting? In such cases the present paper provide a framework with which to evaluate these situations. This paper also presents a summary of the different study that analyses the history of ethics and morality in accounting and is based on account qualitative methods

MiRNA-Based Therapeutics in Oncology, Realities, and Challenges

    Get PDF
As master modulators of the human genome, miRNAs are involved in all cancer hallmarks, disrupting the normal function of their targets. By gaining or losing the function, miRNAs lead to the validation of tumor phenotype, its progression, and metastasis as well as to drug resistance. Increasing the evidence suggests that the modulation of miRNAs in cancer cells, by suppressing the oncogenic miRNAs (oncomiRs) and substituting the deficient tumor suppressive miRNAs (TS-miRNAs), could become a reliable tool for improving the cancer therapy. In this chapter, we will present an up-to-date overview of the role of miRNA-based therapeutics in oncology, highlighting their role in cancer management, how these therapies can be used, and which would be the future challenges related to miRNA-based therapies

Alfalfa Leaf Powder and its Potential Utilisation in Raw Vegan Chocolate

    Get PDF
Utilization of new or unusual sources of nutrients has led to a wider market regarding food product diversity. The utilization of alfalfa in food products leads to an increase in nutrients as proteins, from macro elementary point of view and in polyphenols, chlorophylls, and carotenoids if is to look in the micro elementary system. The present paper proposes the increase of the bioavailability of alfalfa powder by adding in a raw vegan chocolate. Characteristics as total phenolic content, antioxidant activity, FTIR fingerprint, and antimicrobial activity were investigated

INVESTIGATION OF A FILLET WELF JOINT WITH ULTRASOUND

    Get PDF
Fillet welded joints have a very high share in the industry. In the case of these welded joints, the stress concentrators at the intersection of the base material / filler material and the inner discontinuities are specific. The cumulative effect of these stress concentrators and the interior defects that inevitably occur in welding can lead to failure that may result in unpleasant consequences. Therefore, in the case of fillet welded joints, it is necessary to monitor and control the inner discontinuities. In this paper we investigate using the ultrasound control method, the fillet weld seam between those two T-welded sheets

THE INVESTIGATION OF A BUTT WELD WITH ULTRASOUND

In the case of welded joints there are defects that can not be seen with the naked eye. These defects being within the material to know if they can cause failures in the future, should be investigated and ranked in an acceptance class according to certain standards in the field. In this paper we investigate using the ultrasonic control method, the welding seam between two butt welded sheets

The Evolution of Depressive Disorders in Children with History of Tuberculosis (Clinical Study in the Context of COVID-19 Pandemic in Romania)

The Covid-19 pandemic has transformed the world since the beginning of 2020 and has produced many changes in key aspects of healthcare delivery. The emergence of SARS-CoV-2 has been seen as the promoter of many dramatic changes, especially in the medical field, having a huge impact on health systems around the world. Both patients and healthcare professionals have been subjected to a new stress factor that has resonated strongly in everyday life. This leads to an increased risk of association of psychological disorders, especially for patients suffering from chronic diseases, as they have already had a history of psycho-vulnerability. Patients with known chronic pathologies therefore have several concerns about important issues in the future, therefore, they are associated with an increased risk of occurrence of psychological phenomena. The present research represents an observational study, with a prospective case-witness type, carried out over a period of 2 years, between 2019 and 2020. The patients included in this research are part of the databases of the Children’s Pneumology Department of “Sfântul Spiridon” Pneumoftiziology Hospital of Galati and in the TB (Tuberculosis) Clinics in Galati County, being patients diagnosed and treated in these departments. We aimed to study the association between the presence of tuberculosis and depressive disorders reported in children aged 7-18 years, during 2019 and 2020 and in addition, to expose the results of the psychological effects of the pandemic on these chronic patients. We finally hypothesized that depression, but also the symptoms associated with them, will have a significantly higher incidence among patients with tuberculosis during the Covid pandemic.</p

Conventional compared to CAD/CAM ceramic inlay

    Get PDF
Objectives. This study aimed at comparing the methodologies for achieving an occlusal-mesial ceramic inlay using both the conventional and digital methods in terms of workflow protocol, aesthetic and functional results, working time, but also costs and equipment needed. Material and methods. A 22-year-old patient presented with a direct mesio-occlusal composite restoration with a secondary marginal decay in tooth 3.6 that was subsequently restored by a ceramic inlay manufactured using both traditional and digital methods. Outcomes. The dental technician's talent, experience, and vision guided the technical process of creating the conventional inlay. The technical process of producing the digital inlay involved fewer laboratory stages, but also contamination risks than conventional ones, removing potential human errors associated with each stage and allowing possible changes to be made more quickly and efficiently. The conventional method took more time to complete all of the laboratory steps than the digital method. Conclusions. When compared to the digital method, the traditional method allowed the dental technician to achieve a high level of individualization of the prosthetic restoration. Digital techniques are a method of the future that is rapidly growing and improving. Digital techniques for obtaining an inlay involved high-performance equipment, which is pricey to purchase and maintain
