Skyrmions coupled with the electromagnetic field via the gauged Wess-Zumino term
In soliton models expressed in terms of the non-linear chiral field, the
electric current has an anomalous gauge-field contribution as the baryon
current does. We study the spin polarized Skyrmions coupled with the
electromagnetic field via the gauged Wess-Zumino term and calculate
configurations of the Skyrmion and the gauge field with boundary conditions to
ensure the physical charge number for baryons.
Although the electromagnetic field via the gauged Wess-Zumino term affects
physical quantities in small amounts, we find that the magnetic field forms a
dipole structure owing to a circular electric current around the spin
quantization axis of the soliton. This is understood on an analogy with the
Meissner effect in the super conductor. The electric charge distributions turn
out to have characteristic structures depending on the total charge, which
suggests the intrinsic deformation of baryons due to orbital motions of the
constituents.Comment: 8 pages, 5 figure
Images of nurses by senior high school students wishing to go on to the nursing course
A qusetionnaire survey was done by senior high school students wishing to go on to the nursing course in Okayama Prefecture, to know what images of nurses they had, what course for nursing education they wished to best for and what they would like nursing profession to be. Results of analysing data obtained from 222 students were as follows; 1. They had favorable images of nurses in high rates, although they also recognized the harsh working conditions. Those images were thought to be derived from the preciousness of nursing, devotion to people, and advantage of the license. But recognition of specialty of nursing indicated by items such as knowledge, judgement, skill and continuing education was low. 2. Necessity of continuing education was recognized by students wishing to go on to university or junior college better than students of vocational school of registered and assistant nurses. 3. Images of nurses were different by their choice of profession such as clinical nurses, public health nurses and midwives which they would like to be in the future
Illumination-Based Synchronization of High-Speed Vision Sensors
To acquire images of dynamic scenes from multiple points of view simultaneously, the acquisition time of vision sensors should be synchronized. This paper describes an illumination-based synchronization method derived from the phase-locked loop (PLL) algorithm. Incident light to a vision sensor from an intensity-modulated illumination source serves as the reference signal for synchronization. Analog and digital computation within the vision sensor forms a PLL to regulate the output signal, which corresponds to the vision frame timing, to be synchronized with the reference. Simulated and experimental results show that a 1,000 Hz frame rate vision sensor was successfully synchronized with 32 μs jitters
Effect of lattice distortions on the electron and thermal transport properties of transparent oxide semiconductor Ba1-xSrxSnO3 solid solution films
La-doped ASnO3 (A = Ba, Sr) have great potential as advanced transparent
oxide semiconductors due to their large optical bandgap and relatively high
electron mobility. The bandgap of Ba1-xSrxSnO3 solid solution increases from
3.2 eV (BaSnO3) to 4.6 eV (SrSnO3) with x. However, the increase in the bandgap
is accompanied by reductions in the electrical conductivity. The versatility in
the changes in the electrical properties are not trivial, and the property
optimization has been challenging. Here we propose a simple metric for
quantifying the transport properties of ASnO3. We investigated the
electron/thermal transport properties of Ba1-xSrxSnO3 solid solution films and
their relationship with the lattice distortion. The results suggest that the
all transport properties of Ba1-xSrxSnO3 are dominated by the lattice
distortion. This phenomenon is attributed to the distortions in the SnO6
octahedron, which consists the conduction band

Fabrication of GaAs MISFET with nm-thin oxidized layer formed by UV and ozone process
金沢大学工学部A gate insulating layer with single nm-order thickness for suppressing gate leakage current is one of the key factors in extending downsizing limits, based upon the scaling rule, of field-effect-type transistors. We describe the fabrication and characterization of GaAs MISFETs with a nm-thin oxidized layer as the gate insulating layer, which is formed by an ultraviolet (UV) and ozone process. The UV and ozone process forms oxidized GaAs layers near the surface, which effectively suppress the reverse leakage current by several orders of magnitude. The fabricated GaAs MISFET can operate not only in the depletion mode, but also in the accumulation mode up to 3 V gate voltage for 8-nm-thick oxidized layers due to the current blocking effect of the oxidized layer. A current cutoff frequency of 6 GHz and a maximum oscillation frequency of 8 GHz are obtained for a GaAs MISFET with 1-/spl mu/m gate length and 8-nm-thick oxidized layers
