ASSESSMENT OF THE FINANCIAL CONDITION OF RUSSIAN BANKS AND WAYS TO IMPROVE

    Get PDF
The indicators, necessary for the improvement of the system of assessment of the financial condition of the banks of Russia, have been analyzed. The reasons of inefficient assessment of the bank’s activity results and the resulting negative consequences have been considered. The hypothesis about the necessity of application of methods of forecasting at acceptance of strategically important administrative decisions and expert estimation of a current situation for avoidance of the critical situations, leading to bankruptcy and insolvency in the sphere of bank activity has been put forward. The main causes of crisis situations occurrence, taking into account the dynamics of external and internal indicators, have been considered. A list of indicators, consisting of two groups that should be taken into account when assessing the financial condition of Russian banks, has been presented. Despite the apparent transparency of the indicators under study, a practical problem of forming a single methodology arises, that would lead to a significant increase in the adequacy of assessment of the performance of Russian banks

Liquid-phase oxidative dehydrogenation of 2,3,5-trimethyl-1,4-hydroquinone in the presence of titanium dioxide hydrogel was studied by a kinetic method. Associative interactions between the substrate, oxidant, and gel were detected by voltammetry and ESR and IR spectroscopy.Russian Foundation for Basic Researc

Special aspects of managers and employees’ responsibility structure

The relevance of the research problem due to the fact that society needs people who are able to make their own decisions and take responsibility for their choices, but often there are situations when leaders are not able to delegate responsibility, and employees in turn do not want to take it. The article aims to study the differences in the structure of responsibility of managers and employees’ responsibility, analysis of interrelations of components of responsibility with motivation. Leading methods to the study of this problem is a psycho-diagnostic method and method of mathematical statistics (Pearson correlation analysis, factor analysis - multivariate statistical method used for studying relationships between values of variables). Processing of empirical data was conducted using SPSS programs. In the result of the study obtained significant differences in the structure of managers and employees’ responsibility described the relationship of components of responsibility with motivation. The article can be useful to psychologists, staff managers and administrative managers. © 2016 Mukhlynina et al

Control of Organic Impurities in Semisynthetic Antibiotics

In 2012, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) adopted a guideline, which divided all antibiotics into groups according to the manufacturing process and established acceptance criteria for organic impurities for each of the groups. The aim of the study was to justify the requirements and methodological approaches to setting the limits for organic impurities in semisynthetic antibiotics.Materials and methods: the authors analysed the requirements established by the leading world pharmacopoeias and the State Pharmacopoeia of the Russian Federation regarding the control of organic impurities in semisynthetic antibiotics, using the example of four semisynthetic antibiotics: doxycyline hyclate, clarithromycin, meropenem, and ceftriaxone. The study used the methods of comparative analysis and content analysis. Results: the study demonstrated that the organic impurity profiles of the analysed active substances and the corresponding finished medicinal products often differ significantly across the leading pharmacopoeias, either qualitatively or quantitatively. The Russian, European, and United States pharmacopoeias provide for the use of impurity reference standards in the test procedures for the determination of impurities in active substances of the semisynthetic antibiotics in question, whereas the Japanese Pharmacopoeia allows the use of non-compendial reference substances in the assessment of the chromatographic system separation power. Conclusions: the ability of a pharmacopoeial text to cover a variety of medicinal products coming to the Russian market from different countries has become a vital issue. This includes covering the impurity determination procedures, reference standards, and limits used, because general-purpose methods and limits do not always allow for correct assessment of impurity profiles in substances produced by different manufacturing processes. The current USP practice is to include various impurity control procedures in monographs on medicinal products, and the limits may also vary. This approach may be applied in the State Pharmacopoeia of the Russian Federation as well

This article presents the brief history of procedural content generation and clarifies the general meaning of this process. After the description of key events and developments in this field, several definitions of the term «procedural content generation» according to researchers are given. Based on these definitions, a variant of a single interpretation of the term is discussed in the paper.

A LOW-COST METHOD FOR THE DETECTION OF DUPLICATE HOLDINGS AMONG GENEBANK ACCESSIONS

A set of 185 pairs of accessions with the same name from the Russian and Nordic collections of barley were grown in the field in Pushkin and were scored by the same person using a set of morphological descriptors. No differences were detected in the majority of the pairs (63%).In four out of six pairs no differences were detected for any of the agro-botanical characters. The accessions are most likely duplicates. In 13% of the pairs, the accessions were probably distinct and another 24% fell in-between these categories and required further investigation. Simple screening can reduce the number of duplicates. [The work is dedicated to Sergey M. Alexanian, Vice Director for Foreign Relations of VIR, who passed away in 2014]

Weight method for determination of soluble β-glucans in barley grain

    Get PDF
Background. Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) is an important source of nutrients, such as starch, protein, and various dietary fibers. β-Glucans are soluble fibers found in high amounts in oat and barley grain, so they are becoming increasingly interesting due to their numerous functional and bioactive properties. The increased interest in β-glucans as a dietary supplement and a functional component of food calls for a convenient, inexpensive and affordable method for quantitative determination of these compounds.Materials and methods. An overview is given on the existing techniques for determining and isolating β-glucans in cereals: IR spectroscopy, enzymatic, colorimetric, and alkaline-enzymatic methods. Their advantages and disadvantages are shown. The disadvantages of the methods considered include high costs of reagents and equipment, duration of performance, and labor intensity.Results. This study promotes the weight method for isolation and quantitative determination of β-glucans in the grain of covered and naked barley. It is based on the modified alkaline method adapted to barley; we developed it earlier for oat grain. The amount of β-glucans in the grain of the studied barley accessions ranged from 4.12±0.23% to 5.34 ± 0.31% for naked cultivars, and from 3.57 ± 0.18% to 4.29 ± 0.32% for covered ones.Conclusion. Based on the conducted research, optimal conditions for the isolation and quantitative determination of β-glucans from barley grain were selected: centrifugation modes, temperature and extraction ratio, concentration of compounds, precipitation and drying procedures. The main advantage of the described method is its accessibility and practical applicability when conducting mass analysis, including studying a collection of cereal crops

In the current work the research of fracture toughness of Al2O3/xZrSiO4 composite coatings have been realized using automatic system for microhardness analysis. Al2O3/xZrSiO4 (x = 0, 3, 25 wt. %) coatings were produced from a mixture of cheap raw materials (alumina and zircon ZrSiO4) on the surface of stainless steels by a new multi-chamber gas-dynamic accelerator. It has been experimentally established that adding of ZrSiO4 increases fracture toughness of alumina coating
