    Stochastic generation in a Josephson-like antiferromagnetic spin Hall oscillator driven by a pure AC current

    We demonstrate numerically that a pure time-harmonic bias AC current of some particular amplitude τf\tau_f and angular frequency ωf\omega_f can excite the chaotic magnetization dynamics in a Josephson-like antiferromagnetic (AFM) spin Hall oscillator (SHO) having a biaxial magnetic anisotropy of an AFM layer. The nature of such a stochastic generation regime in a Josephson-like AFM SHO could be explained by the random hopping of the SHO's work point between several quasi-stable states under the action of applied AC current. We revealed that depending on the ωf/τf\omega_f/\tau_f ratio several stochastic generation regimes interspersed with regular generation regimes can be achieved in an AFM SHO that can be used in spintronic sources of random signals and various nano-scale devices utilizing random signals including the spintronic p-bit device considered in this paper. The obtained results are important for the development and optimization of spintronic devices able to generate and process (sub-)THz-frequency random signals promising for ultra-fast probabilistic computing, cryptography, secure communications, etc.Comment: 9 pages, 7 figure

    The convolutional codes analysis and synthesis technique is proposed. This technique is optimal according to near Shannon's bound criterion and guarantees a given bit error rate from message source. The proposed technique is based on the well-known optimum block codes synthesis method. As a result, equivalent parameters set of convolutional codes is received. This set corresponds the optimal block code. The algorithm for synthesis an optimal convolutional code is proposed. Examples of optimal convolutional codes analysis and synthesis in the channel with a given energy are presented

    Local information transfer as a spatiotemporal filter for complex systems

    We present a measure of local information transfer, derived from an existing averaged information-theoretical measure, namely transfer entropy. Local transfer entropy is used to produce profiles of the information transfer into each spatiotemporal point in a complex system. These spatiotemporal profiles are useful not only as an analytical tool, but also allow explicit investigation of different parameter settings and forms of the transfer entropy metric itself. As an example, local transfer entropy is applied to cellular automata, where it is demonstrated to be a novel method of filtering for coherent structure. More importantly, local transfer entropy provides the first quantitative evidence for the long-held conjecture that the emergent traveling coherent structures known as particles (both gliders and domain walls, which have analogues in many physical processes) are the dominant information transfer agents in cellular automata.Comment: 12 page

    RoboCup 2D Soccer Simulation League: Evaluation Challenges

    We summarise the results of RoboCup 2D Soccer Simulation League in 2016 (Leipzig), including the main competition and the evaluation round. The evaluation round held in Leipzig confirmed the strength of RoboCup-2015 champion (WrightEagle, i.e. WE2015) in the League, with only eventual finalists of 2016 competition capable of defeating WE2015. An extended, post-Leipzig, round-robin tournament which included the top 8 teams of 2016, as well as WE2015, with over 1000 games played for each pair, placed WE2015 third behind the champion team (Gliders2016) and the runner-up (HELIOS2016). This establishes WE2015 as a stable benchmark for the 2D Simulation League. We then contrast two ranking methods and suggest two options for future evaluation challenges. The first one, "The Champions Simulation League", is proposed to include 6 previous champions, directly competing against each other in a round-robin tournament, with the view to systematically trace the advancements in the League. The second proposal, "The Global Challenge", is aimed to increase the realism of the environmental conditions during the simulated games, by simulating specific features of different participating countries.Comment: 12 pages, RoboCup-2017, Nagoya, Japan, July 201

    The purpose of the study is to find ways to solve the current problem of improving the military education system. The needs in the formation and development of digital competencies of military management officers in different competence areas were studied: information and data literacy, communication and collaboration, digital content creation, safety and problem solving are studied. Possession of a high level of competence in these areas, according to the authors, significantly affects the professional development of officers during their military careers. The attention is focused on the possibility of implementing transdisciplinary integration in the system of advanced training of officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The subject of the study, among other things, was the formation of readiness to use STEM-technologies in professional activities. The study reviewed modern STEM-approaches in the educational process and analyzed the experience of countries such as the United States, Australia, China, Britain, Israel, Korea, Singapore. The results of the survey among the students of advanced training courses at The National Defence University of Ukraine named after Ivan Cherniakhovskyi are highlighted. In particular, the attitude and needs of military management officers to training and professional development were clarified; identified their educational interests. In particular, the need for effective ownership of tools for planning and organizing project work, analysis and evaluation of achieved results is identified.Метою дослідження є пошук шляхів вирішення актуальної проблеми удосконалення системи військової освіти. Досліджено потреби у формуванні та розвитку цифрових компетенцій офіцерів військового керівництва в різних сферах компетенції: інформаційна та дата-грамотність, комунікація та співпраця, створення цифрового контенту, безпека та вирішення проблем. Володіння високим рівнем компетенції в цих сферах, на думку авторів, суттєво впливає на професійний розвиток офіцерів протягом їхньої військової кар’єри. Акцентується увага на можливості впровадження трансдисциплінарної інтеграції в систему підвищення кваліфікації офіцерів Збройних Сил України. Предметом дослідження, серед іншого, стало формування готовності до використання STEM-технологій у професійній діяльності. У дослідженні було розглянуто сучасні STEM-підходи в освітньому процесі та проаналізовано досвід таких країн, як США, Австралія, Китай, Великобританія, Ізраїль, Корея, Сінгапур. Висвітлюються результати опитування серед слухачів курсів підвищення кваліфікації Національного університету оборони України імені Івана Черняховського. Зокрема, з’ясовано ставлення та потреби офіцерів військового управління до навчання та підвищення кваліфікації; визначили їхні освітні інтереси. Зокрема, визначено необхідність ефективного володіння інструментами для планування та організації проектної роботи, аналізу та оцінки досягнутих результатів
