EDUCATIONAL PARADIGM TRANSFORMATION IN THE CONTEXT OF GREEN ECONOMY
The aim of the article is to present vectors of Vocational Education Training (VET) modernization in the context of the sustainable development and green economy development; as well as to offer a perspective on addressing the existing gaps based on international experience.Methods. The methods involve the comparative-analytical method, method of conceptual and socio-cultural contextualization, method of rationalization of meaning, foresight methods and methods of social projection. Results of the research confirm the thesis that education as a social subsystem reflects the main trends of social development, as far as it is not only an instrument for ensuring of cultural and historical succession, but also the system of forming of a personality and behavior of citizens understanding degree of the responsibility for own future and having for this purpose necessary professional and universal (common cultural) competences and valuable attitudes. It is convincingly proved that for sustainable development of the society and economy, the operational solution of a complex triune task is required: upgrading of educational programs, improvement of competences of teachers and creation of the new training environment. Besides the goal setting and identification of the existing gaps and contradictions that block its decision, the specific measures approved at the international level are proposed; these measures should be integrated into the Russian social and educational context. Professional education at the same time is considered both as an object, and as the instrument of necessary changes. Scientific novelty lies in the contextualization of the challenges of sustainable development and their extrapolation onto the system of vocational education in the form of system-level projecting approaches.Practical significance. The materials of the publication are offered to be used for development of the strategy of improvement of vocational education; for planning and implementation of practical organizational and substantial actions for Β«greenΒ» transformation of educational institutions. NATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS FRAMEWORKS: CONCEPTUAL AND METHODOLOGICAL PRINCIPLES IN THE CONTEXT OF UNRESOLVED ISSUES
Introduction. The deficiency of highly skilled professionals meeting the requirements of the modern labour market has become the reason for search of new, more effective regulation mechanisms of vocational training and personnel certification for post-industrial knowledge-based economy. As international practice demonstrates, such mechanisms could be the National Qualifications Systems (NQS), National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and Professional Standards (PS) that are comparable with the European Qualifications Framework (EQF), designed for lifelong education implementation. Aim. Having analysed the international experience, the aims of the article are to discuss the issues of NQF and PS implementation and to consider the possibility of adaptation of the best models of foreign practice for the Russian realities. Methodology and research methods. The methods of collecting empirical information, comparative and conceptual-terminological analysis were applied in the course of studying methodological and methodical aspects of construction and functioning of NQS; the methods of generalization, interpretation and modeling were applied. The results and scientific novelty. The complex of the systemic problems which restrict the process of NQS formation launched in Russia is noted. The revealed reasons are explained by the developed psychological, organizational and methodical stereotypes; the ways of overcoming the current problems are outlined. According to the authors, the key problem is the dichotomy between professional and educational qualifications which does not exist in the international discourse, but is deeply rooted in consciousness of the Russians. Such a distinction involves irrational duplication of procedures for the qualifications assessment and generates a number of other difficulties interfering effective development of NQS and obtaining the maximum benefits from its use. In order to resolve the revealed contradictions and shortcomings, the authors analysed the experience of other countries where national systems of qualifications are implemented. Based on the international practice invariant systemically important parameters and variable characteristics of NQS and NQF are singled out and described. The typology of the qualifications framework and the principles of their design are proved. Practical significance. The research materials and findings, recommendations and suggestions for integrated improvement of mechanisms of Federal State Educational Standards, introduced PS and the system of independent assessment of qualifications can be useful for professional development of the experts and methodologists participating in design and modernization of NQF, development of professional and educational standards along with the main and additional programs of vocational training.ΠΠ²Π΅Π΄Π΅Π½ΠΈΠ΅. AUTOMATIC MUCOUS GLANDS SEGMENTATION IN HISTOLOGICAL IMAGES
Mucous glands is an important diagnostic element in digestive pathology. The first step of differential diagnosis of colon polyps in order to assess their malignant potential is gland segmentation. The process of mucous glands segmentation is challenging as the glands not only needed to be separated from a background but also individually identified to obtain reliable morphometric criteria for quantitative diagnostic methods. We propose a new convolutional neural network for mucous gland segmentation that takes into account glandsβ contours and can be used for gland instance segmentation. Training and evaluation of the network was performed on a standard Warwick-QU dataset as well as on the collected PATH-DT-MSU dataset of histological images obtained from hematoxylin and eosin staining of paraffin sections of colon biopsy material collected by our Pathology department. The universitiesβ role in developing citizen science discourse
The article, aimed at mapping ways to enhance the systemic character and sustainability of citizen science, analyses the state of its discourse in the Russian context. The analysis, relying upon the multiple actor interdisciplinary paradigm within the framework of rational agency, applied comparative and analytical methods. The research concentrated on identifying common invariant features in the processes of initiating and developing citizen science projects, as well as on distinguishing core unresolved issues. The article points out the relevance of citizen science, viewing the latter as a reflection of changes in the relationships and activities undertaken by people, communities and society at large, diverse actors getting more and more involved in these activities, with their functionality and impact on social processes being expanded. The research can be considered brandly new, because it defines the role of citizen science as a new synergetic paradigm for the development of science and higher education in Russia, and as an important communication-and-cooperation channel between higher education and society at large. In particular, it is revealed that at the macrolevel, citizen science projects contribute to the democratization of both scientific research and society as a whole by invoking actors from various social spheres and subsystems, as well as by strengthening citizensβ confidence in the state. At the microlevel, the projects contribute to the universitiesβ educational and social mission, expand and diversify the interaction of HEIs with society, and foster new research questions formulation. The practical use of the research is viewed as a possible integration of our conclusions in the further practice-oriented investigations, in forming citizen science backgrounds, competences, and methodological base. NATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS SYSTEM IN RUSSIA β AN EPISTEMOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVE
Introduction. The article offers an insight into an epistemologicalΒ perspective of establishing the national qualifications system in Russia that is criticalΒ for creating a βmarket of qualifications in the country that would be adequateΒ to the current context.The aim of the research was to examine the context and factors underpinningΒ the formation and evolution of the structure of knowledge relating to the nationalΒ qualification system in Russia.Methodology and research methods. The methods applied comprise a mixed-method approach that included: review and analysis of official documents, semi-structured background and individual interviews with key stakeholders (lineΒ ministries, experts from industry and qualifications awarding bodies etc.) andΒ desk research.Results and scientific novelty. The performed analysis of documents and ofΒ research data has revealed that the process of generating and enhancing knowledgeΒ about the national qualifications system semantically and methodologicallyΒ is in broad terms contingent on the needs and objectives of social and economicΒ development, and in narrower terms β on the development of occupational standardsΒ that underpin the standards of vocational and higher education, as well asΒ on the enhanced institutionalisation of employersβ involvement in the training ofΒ personnel and in the search of effective mechanisms and instruments of independentΒ assessment of qualifications.It also offers an insight into current key paradigmatic gaps in the NQF-relatedΒ epistemology in Russia that account for the specificity of the observed state ofΒ play and for the key conceptual epistemological contradiction that has been identifiedΒ by the authors as the opposition of and conflict between occupational and education qualifications. The authors propose ways out of the situation based on international practices in this area starting from aligning the terminology and conceptual approaches with international ones.Β The performed epistemological research and the conclusions made by theΒ authors contribute to the national qualifications system discourse. It is stressedΒ that core principles underpinning the development of the national qualificationsΒ system should be adapted to the social and economic and local factors.Practical significance. The article presents the literature data on the regulation of endometrial cells apoptosis in health and proliferative diseases of the uterus. It is noted that throughout the menstrual cycle the cells apoptosis and regeneration take place in strictly controlled sequence and depend on the phase of the cycle and hormonal changes. The expression of Bcl-2 (inhibitor of apoptosis) in cells also varies cyclically in endometrial glandular cells, peaking in the late proliferative phase, and then decreasing to a minimum at the end of the secretory phase and within the menstruation phase. In endometriosis, the apoptosis index in endometrial functional layer is significantly lower than in healthy women. The weakened apoptosis is associated with the disturbance of its regulation. The expression of Bcl-2 increased with the progress of the disease in the endometrial tissue, while the expression of bax (apoptosis activator) corresponded to figures in healthy women. The increase in the expression of Bcl-2 was observed in the cells of myomatous fibroids. Thus, in patients with uterine myoma the ratio Bcl-2/Bax is more important. It is noted that the weakened apoptosis of endometrial cells and disorders of apoptosis regulation are leading pathogenic mechanisms for the development of proliferative diseases of the uterus. Immunohistochemical characteristics of Ki67 expression in premalignant lesions of the colon and rectum
According to the 2010 WHO classification, the precursors of colorectal cancer are conventional adenomas (tubular β AT, tubulo-villous β ATV and villous) and serrated lesions (hyperplastic polyps β HP, sessile serrated denomas/polyps β SSA/P, traditional serrated adenomas β TSA). The evaluation of Ki67 expression is one of the components of the malignant potential of premalignant lesions of the colon and rectum. Materials and methods. Immunohistochemical expression of Ki67 was assessed in 28 HP, 30 SSA/P, 15 TSA, 30 AT, 28 ATV. In all cases the average percentage and location of colored nuclei were estimated. Results. Ki67 expression in HP and SSA/P was predominantly registered in the lower crypt regions, the Ki67-index in HP was 63%, in the non-dilated crypts of SSA/P β 66,2% (p>0,05). In the dilated crypts of SSA/P the Ki67-index was 35,8%, that is significantly lower than in the HP and the non-dilated crypts of SSA/P (p0,05). In the ectopic crypts of TSA the Ki67-index is 29,9% and is not significantly different from the basal regions in ATV. Conclusion. The predominance of Ki67-positive cells in the upper half of the crypts supports the "descending" model of cancer development in AT, ATV and TSA; the predominance of Ki67-positive cells in the lower half of the crypts in HP and SSA/P may be indicative of the "ascending" model of carcinogenesis. The article presents the results of a morphological study in 35 operated patients with uterine leiomyoma (lm) of various sizes and localizations, admitted with uterine bleeding. We studied morphological changes which occured in tumors and uterine tissues of patients with lm after therapy with agents and devices for embolization of uterine arteries (eua). The analysis of structural changes in the uterine arteries and body in patients with lm anduterine bleeding made it possible to clarify the mechanism of hemostasis. Aberrant methylation of gene promoter regions is the main epigenetic change characterizing colorectal cancer. Methylation levels of 42 CpG-sites of promoter regions of the MGMT, APC and CDH13 genes in colorectal cancer were studied in comparison with methylation levels of the adjacent normal tissue in 25 patients. Pyrosequencing showed an increase in methylation levels of promoter regions of the MGMT, APC and CDH13 genes in tumor samples by 3 to 5 times. These tumor samples were screened for activating SNP-mutations in the KRAS (40 %), NRAS (0 %) and BRAF (0 %) oncogenes. SNP-mutations in the KRAS gene were accompanied by hypermethylation of one or more promoters of the studied genes. Association of this epigenetic index with tumor metastasis was proved.
