Learning through construction in IT courses
In the Norwegian Center for Excellence in IT education (Excited), there are 19 IT study programs across two universities with six campuses. One of the goals of Excited is to gain more knowledge about âlearning through constructionâ(LtC) in IT studies. The paper presents preliminary findings on characteristics of courses with âlearning through constructionâ in bachelor and master courses with project-based learning in the spring semester of 2017. The LtC courses are characterized through a number of variables from a categorization model of project courses: teaching context, range of implementation, learning context, institutional context, personnel composition, grading, project variety, degrees of freedom of the process and in the deliverables. Our findings show that âlearning through constructionâ is often used as a learning method in higher IT education because constructive skills are a highly valued learning outcome, and to develop such skills, it is necessary to practice. At the same time, the teachers conclude that the learning method is motivating for students and is stimulating creative thinking, and that project work is useful because the students will be better prepared for project work also after their studies. Our findings also shows that there are âlearning through constructionâ courses on all study years of the bachelor and master study programs, and that some study programs have a maker focus in each semester. Some projects are individual work, but the majority of the projects are group work, often in small (2-4) or medium-sized (5-10) teams. Most of the time, the students organize the teams themselves, but in some cases the teams are set up by the faculty. When it comes to student autonomy, the students experience more freedom further into their education, as there are more flexible project processes in the later study years. The products of the student projects are typically software prototypes and product documentation/software design, more specifically the main product types are games and web applications. Some courses with learning through construction use external stakeholders in the student projects. The study also shows that the implementation of learning through construction projects varies across study years and study programs.publishedVersio

Selskapet jobber med 170 reiselivsbedrifter, 25 kommuner fordelt pÄ to
fylkeskommuner. MarkedsfĂžring av opplevelser og aktiviteter langs veien er et
strategisk satsningsomrÄde.
Kystriksveien Reiseliv opplever at det kreves stĂžrre kompetanse for Ă„ markedsfĂžre
deres produkt gjennom nye medier og pÄ nye plattformer og Þnsket derfor Ä
gjennomfĂžre et kompetansehevningsprosjekt i samarbeid med HĂžgskolen i Nord-
TrĂžndelag.
Prosjektet har tatt utgangspunkt i et praktisk case hvor Trygve PlĂžhn over en periode
pÄ 17 dager fra 8. juni til 24. juni 2010 syklet Kystriksveien fra BodÞ til Steinkjer. Med
pÄ turen fulgte Kindergarten Media. I lÞpet av turen ble det produsert en rikholdig
turdagbok / blogg med bilder, tekst og daglige Web-TV sendinger. Det ble ogsÄ
benyttes sosiale medier som Twitter og Facebook for Ă„ formidle opplevelsen det var Ă„ sykle Kystriksveien.Prosjektet var et samarbeidsprosjekt mellom HĂžgskolen i Nord-TrĂžndelag, VRITrĂžndelag, Kystriksveien Reiseliv og Kindergarten Media. Prosjektet ble finansiert av

svarene vi sitter igjen med er en kombinasjon av egne erfaringer/aksjonsforskning og empiriske
data fra en undersĂžkelse vi kjĂžrte mot brukerne av tjenesten. Vi fikk inn 69 svar fra

PathTracer: High-sensitivity detection of differential pathway activity in tumours
Abstract: Gene expression profiling of tumours is an important source of information for cancer patient stratification. Detecting subtle alterations of gene expression remains a challenge, however. Here, we propose a novel tool for high-sensitivity detection of differential pathway activity in tumours. For a pathway defined by a collection of genes, the samples are projected onto a low-dimensional manifold in the subspace spanned by those genes. For each sample, a score is next found by calculating the distance between each projected sample and the projection of a subgroup of reference samples. Depending on the aim of the analysis and the available data, the reference samples may represent e.g. normal tissue or tumour samples with a particular genotype or phenotype. The proposed tool, PathTracer, is demonstrated on gene expression data from 1952 invasive breast cancer samples, 10 DCIS, 9 benign samples and 144 tumour adjacent normal breast tissue samples. PathTracer scores are shown to predict survival, clinical subtypes, cellular proliferation and genomic instability. Furthermore, predictions are shown to outperform those obtained with other comparable methods
Different binding motifs of the celiac disease-associated HLA molecules DQ2.5, DQ2.2, and DQ7.5 revealed by relative quantitative proteomics of endogenous peptide repertoires
Celiac disease is caused by intolerance to cereal gluten proteins, and HLA-DQ molecules are involved in the disease pathogenesis by presentation of gluten peptides to CD4+ T cells. The α- or ÎČ-chain sharing HLA molecules DQ2.5, DQ2.2, and DQ7.5 display different risks for the disease. It was recently demonstrated that T cells of DQ2.5 and DQ2.2 patients recognize distinct sets of gluten epitopes, suggesting that these two DQ2 variants select different peptides for display. To explore whether this is the case, we performed a comprehensive comparison of the endogenous self-peptides bound to HLA-DQ molecules of B-lymphoblastoid cell lines. Peptides were eluted from affinity-purified HLA molecules of nine cell lines and subjected to quadrupole orbitrap mass spectrometry and MaxQuant software analysis. Altogether, 12,712 endogenous peptides were identified at very different relative abundances. Hierarchical clustering of normalized quantitative data demonstrated significant differences in repertoires of peptides between the three DQ variant molecules. The neural network-based method, NNAlign, was used to identify peptide-binding motifs. The binding motifs of DQ2.5 and DQ7.5 concurred with previously established binding motifs. The binding motif of DQ2.2 was strikingly different from that of DQ2.5 with position P3 being a major anchor having a preference for threonine and serine. This is notable as three recently identified epitopes of gluten recognized by T cells of DQ2.2 celiac patients harbor serine at position P3. This study demonstrates that relative quantitative comparison of endogenous peptides sampled from our protein metabolism by HLA molecules provides clues to understand HLA association with disease.Fil: Bergseng, Elin. Plasma linoleic acid levels and cardiovascular risk factors:results from the Norwegian ACE 1950 Study
Background
A high intake of linoleic acid (LA), the major dietary polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA), has previously been associated with reduced cardiovascular (CV) morbidity and mortality in observational studies. However, recent secondary analyses from clinical trials of LA-rich diet suggest harmful effects of LA on CV health.
Methods
A total of 3706 participants, all born in 1950, were included in this cross-sectional study. We investigated associations between plasma phospholipid levels of LA and CV risk factors in a Norwegian general population, characterized by a relative low LA and high marine n-3 PUFA intake. The main statistical approach was multivariable linear regression.
Results
Plasma phospholipid LA levels ranged from 11.4 to 32.0âwt%, with a median level of 20.8âwt% (interquartile range 16.8â24.8âwt%). High plasma LA levels were associated with lower serum low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels (standardized regression coefficient [Std. ÎČ-coeff.] â0.04, pâ=â0.02), serum triglycerides (Std. ÎČ-coeff. â0.10, pâ<â0.001), fasting plasma glucose (Std. ÎČ-coeff. â0.10, pâ<â0.001), body mass index (Std. ÎČ-coeff. â0.13, pâ<â0.001), systolic and diastolic blood pressure (Std. ÎČ-coeff. â0.04, pâ=â0.03 and Std. ÎČ-coeff. â0.02, pâ=â0.02, respectively) and estimated glomerular filtration rate (Std. ÎČ-coeff. â0.09, pâ<â0.001). We found no association between plasma LA levels and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels, glycated hemoglobin, carotid intima-media thickness, or C-reactive protein.
Conclusion
High plasma LA levels were favorably associated with several CV risk factors in this study of a Norwegian general population
Cardiac troponin T levels and exercise stress testing in patients with suspected coronary artery disease: the Akershus Cardiac Examination (ACE) 1 study
Whether reversible ischaemia in patients referred for exercise stress testing and MPI (myocardial perfusion imaging) is associated with changes in circulating cTn (cardiac troponin) levels is controversial. We measured cTnT with a sensitive assay before, immediately after peak exercise and 1.5 and 4.5Â h after exercise stress testing in 198 patients referred for MPI. In total, 19 patients were classified as having reversible myocardial ischaemia. cTnT levels were significantly higher in patients with reversible myocardial ischaemia on MPI at baseline, at peak exercise and after 1.5Â h, but not at 4.5Â h post-exercise. In patients with reversible ischaemia on MPI, cTnT levels did not change significantly after exercise stress testing [11.1 (5.2â14.9) ng/l at baseline compared with 10.5 (7.2â16.3) ng/l at 4.5Â h post-exercise, P=0.27; values are medians (interquartile range)]. Conversely, cTnT levels increased significantly during testing in patients without reversible myocardial ischaemia [5.4 (3.0â9.0) ng/l at baseline compared with 7.5 (4.6â12.4) ng/l, P<0.001]. In conclusion, baseline cTnT levels are higher in patients with MPI evidence of reversible myocardial ischaemia than those without reversible ischaemia. However, although cTnT levels increase during exercise stress testing in patients without evidence of reversible ischaemia, this response appears to be blunted in patients with evidence of reversible ischaemia. Mechanisms other than reversible myocardial ischaemia may play a role for acute exercise-induced increases in circulating cTnT levels
