    Salah satu polutan yang paling berbahaya bagi kesehatan manusia adalah logam berat. World Health Organization (WHO) dan Food Agriculture Organization (FAO) merekomendasikan untuk tidak mengonsumsi makanan laut (seafood) yang tercemar logam berat. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui kandungan logam berat timbal (Pb) pada kerang kima sisik (Tridacna squamosa) di perairan sekitar Pelabuhan feri Bira yang merupakan satu pusat transportasi antar pulau di Sulawesi Selatan. Kandungan Pb yang terakumulasi ditubuh kerang T. squamosa dianalisa dengan menggunakan Spektrofotometer Serapan Atom (SSA). Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan kadar Pb rata-rata pada stasiun 1 sebesar 0,0014 mg/kg, stasiun 2 sebesar 0,0012 mg/kg, stasiun 3 sebesar 0,00105 mg/kg, stasiun 4 sebesar 0,00075 mg/kg, dan stasiun 5 sebesar 0,0006 mg/kg. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kerang kima Tridacna squamosa yang terdapat pada perairan sekitar pelabuhan feri Bira masih layak untuk dikomsumsi karena kadar logam Pbnya dibawah standar kelayakan menurut WHO yaitu 0,715 mg/kg

    Ketahanan Bakteri Asam Laktat Asal Dangke terhadap Garam Empedu sebagai Kandidat Probiotik

    Bakteri asam laktat (BAL) merupakan kelompok bakteri yang menghasilkan asam laktat sebagaiproduk utama dalam metabolisme karbohidrat. BAL sebagai kandidat probiotik harus memenuhi salah satu syarat yang memiliki ketahanan garam empedu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ketahanan bakteri asam laktat berasal dari dangke susu sapi terhadap garam empedu dengan berbagai konsentrasi yaitu 0,1% , 0,3%, dan 0,5% dan tanpa garam empedu sebagai kontrol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bakteri asam laktat isolat susu sapi asli dangke L. fermentum dan L. acidophillus memiliki ketahanan garam empedu. Lactobacillus acidophilus isolat memiliki ketahanan garam empedu lebih baik dari Lactobacillus fermentum. Perbedaan antara jumlah BAL koloni pada media + oxgall terhadap kontrol (A0 dan B0) untuk masing-masing konsentrasi Oxgall 0,1%, 0,3%, dan 0,5% masing-masing dari L. fermentum: 1,4 x 106, 1,7 x 106, 4 x 106, sedangkan L. acidophillus: 0,7 x 106, 0,9 x 106 dan 1,4 x 106. Ketahanan L. acidophillus pada berbagai konsentrasi garam empedu menunjukkan tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan dengan nilai P = 0,445 sama seperti ketahanan L. fermentum pada variasi empedu konsentrasi garam juga menunjukkan tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan dengan nilai P = 0,133. L. fermentum dan L. acidophillus memiliki kemampuan untuk bertahan terhadap garam empedu yang menunjukkan potensi sebagai probiotik kandidat

    Astronomical Analysis: Viral Video of the Sun Rising From the North in Jeneponto

    This study aims to conduct an astronomical analysis of the viral video of the Sunrise from the north on Thursday, June 17, 2021, in Jeneponto Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The video shows a man testifying to the Sun's position in the north and associating this phenomenon as one of the signs of the Day of Judgment. It attracts much attention to become a trending topic, both of social, national, and International media. This research is descriptive with a qualitative approach using library research methods and content analysis of location, calculations, and images. Primary data was obtained through the interview, while secondary data came from related articles and books. Data collection techniques used documentations and relevant data or theories to the research question. Furthermore, the collected data were analyzed inductively and comparatively. Location analysis was carried out using the Google Maps application, and it was found that the coordinates of MAN Binamu Jeneponto were at 5.67o South (S) and 119.73 East (E). Through calculation analysis, it is known that day the Sun rose in Jeneponto at 06.08 WITA with an azimuth of 66° 35' 23". The comparative analysis between the video displays and google maps was then applied and found that the north direction shown in the video was not the actual one. The confirmation process concluded that the Sun did not rise from the north but the east (towards the northeast). The misunderstanding of Qiblah leading the west causes the observer's misidentification of the Sun's position

    Carbon Storage of Superior Clonal Teak Stand in Special Purpose Forest Area of Wanagama, Special Region of YOGYAKARTA

    A special-purpose forest area (KHDTK) is the forest area which the purposes are for teaching and research activities. One of the research conducted in KHDTK Wanagama was examining the planting of superior Teak from breeding (jati Mega). The growth of clonal teak data can also be assessed for its carbon stock. Hence, the purpose of this research was to determine the potential of biomass and carbon stock in the Jati Mega stands at KHDTK Wanagama, Yogyakarta. The research was carried out using a non-destructive method which used the allometric equation Bt = 0.0149(D2.H)1.0855. Carbon value was calculated as 50% of the total biomass. The results showed that after 17 years of planting Jati Mega, the stand density was 665 trees/ha, carbon storage was 59.98 Mg C/ha, and carbon uptake was 220.11 Mg/ha (CO2-eq). The total value of biomass, carbon stock, and carbon dioxide removal by Jati Mega stands at KHDTK Wanagama was in the medium category. The advantage of this research is for understanding the environmental services of jati Mega as a forest carbon stock. Information on forest carbon stock can be used as basic data for forest management as climate change mitigation
