    Support Vector Machines (SVM) is one of many classification methods implemented on pattern recognition, including handwritten character recognition system. Numbers of traning set will affect the performance of the recognition system. A basic Jawanessehandwritten character recognition system based on SVM used to show the effect of training set numbers variation on system performance. The experiment result indicating that SVM has good generalization on limiting training set (on a data set, 30% data used for training set can give more than 90% success rate on all data set)

    Feature extraction is one of the most improtant step on characters recognition system. Transition features is one from many features used on characters recognition system. This paper report a research on handwritten basic Jawanesse characters recognition system to found the proper numbers of transitions used on transition features. To recognize the characters,the Multiclass Support Vector Machines were used. The Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) SVM were used for multiclass classification strategy and to map each input vector to a higher dimention space, the Gaussian Radial Basis Function (RBF) kernel with parameter 1were used. It can be shown, for basicJawanesse characters recognition system, the optimal numbers of transitions used for transition features is 4 (a half of maximum numbers of transition on all patterns)

    Studi Batimetri Dan Berkurangnya Daratan Di Wilayah Pesisir Tugu Semarang

    Pesisir Kecamatan Tugu Semarang merupakan daerah dengan topografi yang landai sehingga memiliki tingkat kerentanan yang tinggi terhadap dampak kenaikan air laut serta penurunan tanah. Hal tersebut dapat mengakibatkan berkurangnya daratan pesisir Kecamatan Tugu dan menyebabkan kerugian dengan berkurangnya lahan produktif. Dengan demikian daerah pesisir Tugu perlu dilakukan pengkajian berkurangnya wilayah daratan berdasarkan kondisi batimetri terkini perairan. Kajian tersebut memperlukan suatu studi batimetri, sebagai data pendukung dalam kajian berkurangnya daratan di wilayah pesisir Tugu.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui kondisi terkini batimetri serta mengetahui Perubahan wilayah daratan di pesisir Kecamatan Tugu dari tahun 1995 sampai tahun 2014Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif berdasarkan data penelitian berupa angka – angka yang dianalisis secara statistik atau model. Pengambilan data lapangan dilakukan pada tanggal 16-21 Juni 2014. Data utama dalam penelitian ini ialah data kedalaman, pasang surut, serta Perubahan garis pantai. Data-data tersebut kemudian dianalisa secara kuantitatif disajikan dalam bentuk tabel, gambar dan peta.Hasil menunjukan wilayah perairan kecamatan pesisir Tugu-Semarang memiliki kedalaman hingga 5,5m pada jarak 2,6 km dari garis pantai. Daerah tambak memiliki morfologi yang beragam, berupa morfologi dasar yang tidak rata, menunjukan lokasi tambak yang tergenang dibawah permukaan air. Dari hasil overlay citra Landsat tahun 1995 dan 1999 serta citra Quickbird tahun 2006-2014 menunjukan terjadinya berkurangnya daratan di pesisir Tugu. Tahun 1995-2006 menunjukan mundurnya garis pantai hingga 293 meter kearah darat. Dalam kurun waktu tahun 2006-2014 luas area yang berkurang mencapai 384 Ha

    Data transfer speed on GPRS\u27s technology isaffected by the present of some obstacles between sender\u27s side and recipient\u27s side. Those obstacles cause propagation loss that affect the reduction of power level value (rx level). The reduction will affect the data speed. The lower rx level\u27s value means the lower dataspeed. This researchwas done by doing drive test on BTS North Purwokerto and BTS Tambaksogra to measure the amount of power measured (Pr) andthe download data speed on GPRS\u27s network. The measuredpower level (Pr) was normalized to get rx level value. Regression analysis was done to get the relation between the download speed and the rx level value. Theanalysis has resulted in a model: download speed = 4.1 (rx level) 0.459 , with R^2 = 0.380. Correlation analysis shows high correlationbetween rx level and download speed (r = 0.608)

    The application of shunt capacitor is an alternative solution in improving power factor on electrical installations, so the use of electric energy become more efficient. Here we hope that capacitor will give both technical and economical benefit from decreasing power consumption and electric bill. Contributions of installing shunt capacitor to active power consumption on residential installation, which one of electrical bill has been studied.Based on experimental using 2-14 F capacitors on installation model with inductive load show that shunt capacitors decrease total apparent power (VA) up to 58% dependent of its original power factor, but increase active power consumption (up to10 W). From this, installing shunt capacitors will increase cost of kWh that consumer must paid. Application of shunt capacitors will give any benefits to residential consumer in case releasing power capacity installed

    The development of new sites by telecommunication network operator, especially GSM network, purposes for more increase performance and give satisfy for consument. Performance of a site is most affecting for value of network quality totally. New site builded must be monitorized and optimized by its existing in order to can be more realible on serving society with the method that was mentioned “initial tuning activity”.
