Knowledge of mathematics at the beginning of school attendance

The diploma thesis is focused on mathematical knowledge of pupils at the beginning of primary school. The theoretical part deals with characteristics of a preschool child and of a child at the beginning of a primary school, and especially with the specifics in their cognitive functions. Further the theses includes a chapter with an overview of several surveys about mathematical skills of Czech pupils. Finally, there is a chapter about building mathematical ideas at school and in a family. The practical part of the theses presents the results of the quantitative research in the field of mathematical ideas of a primary school child

Artworks Created on the Occasion of the Beatification of the Fourteen Prague Martyrs This bachelor's thesis deals with creation and description of all works of art created for the occasion of the beatification of Frederic Bachstein and his thirteen companions. First, in the historic part recalls the tragic event of death Fourteen Prague Martyrs Mo- nastery of Our Lady of the Snows. It represents the development of respect and efforts towards the famous beatification of 13 October 2012. The thesis also notes selected examples views of martyrs and their iconography. It focuses primarily on documenting art competition for beatification image. Shortly represents all participating artists espe- cially the author of the winning design of the famous painter Thomas Císařovský. It also presents the authors of works of art created for the beatification. They are: new wooden reliquary, commemorative medals and commemorative graphic sheet. The work is fo- cused in addition to documenting contributions and exceptional events which undoub- tedly is the first beatification held in Prague, also pointing out the still important pro- blematic dialogue of the Church and contemporary art

Activated Sludge Respiration Activity Inhibition Caused by Mobile Toilet Chemicals

Ensuring high quality drinking water sources is important task nowadays. To reach this task, knowledge about the impact of different chemicals on aerobic wastewater treatment is mandatory. A mixture of different chemicals reaches wastewater treatment plant every day. With the growing discharge volume of mobile toilet chemicals, active substances in these products in the past years have been recorded. The respiratory activity of activated sludge was determined to show how mobile toilet chemicals and their active substances may affect the biological wastewater treatment process. The results show negative effect of formaldehyde and bronopol on respiratory activity of activated sludge. The wastewater treatment plants influent composition and size also play important roles. Results shows that activated sludge microorganisms at a wastewater treatment plant in industrial urban area may be adapted to the higher pollutants concentration. When mobile toilet tanks are directly discharged at smaller wastewater treatment plant, an activated sludge process can be affected. For treating mobile toilet wastewater, bacterial degraders can be used. During our respiratory activity experiments, potential degraders were searched. Ralstonia sp. prevails in all samples and it is therefore a potential mobile toilet chemicals degrader

Advanced melter operation and training tool

Glass Service Inc. uses the GS Glass Furnace Model as a base for a glass furnace simulator. It contains a user-friendly graphical front end, a simplified version of a furnace operation station, that allows modifying furnace settings (batch charging rate and properties, setup of bubblers, coolers, fuel profile, etc.). Behind this user interface, coupled glass and combustion models are run. The output of these calculations (shown again as a set of operator-friendly control screens) displays temperatures in positions where thermocouples and pyrometers are located in reality, exhaust gas properties, glass flow patterns, location of spring zone, quality indices, etc. The simulator has been validated and shows good agreement with reality
