On z-factorization and c-factorization of standard episturmian words

    Get PDF
Ziv-Lempel and Crochemore factorization are two kinds of factorizations of words related to text processing. In this paper, we find these factorizations for standard epiesturmian words. Thus the previously known c-factorization of standard Sturmian words is provided as a special case. Moreover, the two factorizations are compared.Comment: 10 page

The Role of Community in Malaria Vector Control

    Get PDF
There are 40% (3 billion) of the worlds population at risk of suffering from malaria with the addition of some 300-500 million cases and 1.5 to 1.7 million people died from suffering from malaria. In Indonesia to date, infectious disease, especially diseases that are transmitted by animals, especially insects, are still a public health problem. This study aimed to determine the role of the community in the prevention, control and eradication of malaria. This research was a qualitative study. Subjects of the study were public, community leaders, and health care providers. Data were analyzed by using content analysis and theory validation source. Community participation in malaria vector control through several ways to eradicate mosquito breeding, usage of mosquito nets, use of insect repellent, avoiding a night out and a survey of patients who return from leave. The community plays an active role in malaria vector control efforts by closing puddles, community service every week, and some people are already using nets

Master's thesis Business Administration BE501 - University of Agder 2017Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to identify the most influential contributions to cultural intelligence by a bibliometric citation analysis using HistCite, VOSviewer and CiteNetExplorer, in order to provide an objective and scientific future research direction. Design/methodology/approach – The paper describes the development of cultural intelligence construct and its antecedents to and outcomes of CQ, the synthesis of three bibliometric citation tools to analyse a sample of 357 articles by 823 scholars in 199 different journals published between 1992-2017. Findings – The analysis revealed 10 research clusters within the topic of Cultural Intelligence that can be categorized as the most relevant antecedents to and outcomes of CQ: 1) Validation of Cultural Intelligence; 2) Cultural Intelligence Hypothesis; 3) Experiential Learning & Global Leader development; 4) Expatriate Performance and Adjustment; 5) The use of EQ in Culturally Diverse Teams; 6) Mindfulness, Knowledge and Behaviour; 7) CQ moderating intercultural service encounters; 8) Emotional Intelligence Research; 9) Managerial and Cognitive CQ; and 10) Global Virtual Teams & Cross-Cultural training. We also include future research direction for each emerged research cluster. Originality/value – This study is the first attempt of a citation analysis on the cultural intelligence research; The first integrated and synthesised use of three different citation tools to achieve objective and scientific results as close as possible; The first attempt of essentially unpacking the "DNA" of Cultural Intelligence

Association of Streptococcus bovis with colorectal carcinoma

    Get PDF
Background: - This study was carried out to investigate the ability of Streptococcus bovis to colonise colorectal cancer. Patients and Methods: - A total of 106 outpatients were subjected for colonscopy. Carcinoma biopsies from patients with colorectal cancer tissue from patient with polyps and normal mucosa stool and blood from all patient and controls were cultured and identified for S.bovis. Results: - The histopatholgical findings confirmed that 38 patients had colorectal carninoma, 27 patients with benign polyps and 41 with normal colonic mucosa. The faecal carriage rate of S.bovis was 15(39.5%) in patient with colorected cancer, 5(18.5%) in patients with polyp and 7(17.1%) in control. Conclusion: - Faecal colonization by Streptococcus bovis in colorectal cancer patient was higher than in control healthy people and patients with polyp

Molecular characterization of firefly nuptial gifts: a multi-omics approach sheds light on postcopulatory sexual selection

    Get PDF
Postcopulatory sexual selection is recognized as a key driver of reproductive trait evolution, including the machinery required to produce endogenous nuptial gifts. Despite the importance of such gifts, the molecular composition of the non-gametic components of male ejaculates and their interactions with female reproductive tracts remain poorly understood. During mating, male Photinus fireflies transfer to females a spermatophore gift manufactured by multiple reproductive glands. Here we combined transcriptomics of both male and female reproductive glands with proteomics and metabolomics to better understand the synthesis, composition and fate of the spermatophore in the common Eastern firefly, Photinus pyralis. Our transcriptome of male glands revealed up-regulation of proteases that may enhance male fertilization success and activate female immune response. Using bottom-up proteomics we identified 208 functionally annotated proteins that males transfer to the female in their spermatophore. Targeted metabolomic analysis also provided the first evidence that Photinus nuptial gifts contain lucibufagin, a firefly defensive toxin. The reproductive tracts of female fireflies showed increased gene expression for several proteases that may be involved in egg production. This study offers new insights into the molecular composition of male spermatophores, and extends our understanding of how nuptial gifts may mediate postcopulatory interactions between the sexes.Tuft University. Analysis of Cost-Effectiveness of Single Antidiabetic Usage on Diabetes Mellitus Patients with In-Patient Complications

    Get PDF
