The Influence of Self-Regard on Response of Belief in God and Awareness of Prophetic Teaching

Personality and religion relationship has long been studied by Western and Muslim researchers in order to find any association between religious factors anda person\u27s behavior and thought. The present study sought to expand research by investigating the differences in the latent factors, namely Tawhid (Belief in God), Nubuwwa(Awareness of Prophetic Teaching), Self-striving, and Self-regard, in a newly developed scale of Integrative Islamic Personality Inventory (IIPI). The sample of this study was a group of undergraduate students (n= 1235) in ten universities in Turkey. Data were analyzed using Confirmatory Factor Analysis and Structural Equation Modeling. The main goal of this study was to investigate the statistical properties of this scale and examine if it could be applied across university students. It is apparent that Belief in God and Awareness of Prophetic Teaching, Self-regard and Self-striving represent psychological and social implications for individuals. Thus, the model of this research makes an important contribution to understanding and predicting how Muslims think, act, and experience Islam

The relationship between consumer ethnocentrism, cosmopolitanism and product country image among younger generation consumers: the moderating role of country development status

Although the differences between developed and developing countries have been extensively studied in the context of globalization strategies, few studies have so far been conducted on the relationship between country development status and the possession by countries of a favorable (or unfavorable) product country image (PCI). Moreover, the results of such studies to date have been inconclusive. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the moderating role of country developmental status on PCI coupled with two antecedents of PCI, namely consumer ethnocentrism and cosmopolitanism. The paper also distinguishes between the PCI of the home and foreign country images of respondents. We test a new model that incorporates these constructs with a sample of 2655 younger generation consumers. The results show that country development status moderates some relationships but does not moderate others. These findings have significant implications for international companies from both developed and developing countries when developing global strategy

Students Islamic personality on amanah: a structural modelling approach

The purpose of this study is to investigate the factorial structure of the Ummatic Personality Inventory (UPI). One of the constructs in UPI, Amanah was measured to understand the relationship among the factors namely, Amar Maaruf, Nahi munkar, Accountability to Allah and Accountability to Society. The sample of this study was a group of female students (n= 287) in a government school. Data were analysed using the Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). The findings for the structural model revealed that Khalifah and Accountability correlated to the Amanah. The percentage of variance accounted for by the independent variable was 63% accordingly, which indicated a very good effect size. This reflects that accountability of people for enjoining good deeds is moderately related to accountability towards society. The act of forbidding evil has a strong direct effect on accountability towards Allah. Thus, more efforts should be put on educating students to forbid evil-doing (nahi munkar). In future, a deeper analysis of this nature could be made on the other two constructs of UPI

Dynamic training rate for backpropagation learning algorithm

In this paper, we created a dynamic function training rate for the Back propagation learning algorithm to avoid the local minimum and to speed up training. The Back propagation with dynamic training rate (BPDR) algorithm uses the sigmoid function. The 2-dimensional XOR problem and iris data were used as benchmarks to test the effects of the dynamic training rate formulated in this paper. The results of these experiments demonstrate that the BPDR algorithm is advantageous with regards to both generalization performance and training speed.
