Absence of a classical long-range order in Heisenberg antiferromagnet on triangular lattice
We study the quantum phase transition of an anisotropic
Heisenberg antiferromagnet on a triangular lattice. We
calculate the sublattice magnetization and the long-range helical
order-parameter and their Binder ratios on finite systems with
sites. The dependence of the Binder ratios reveals that the classical
120 N\'{e}el state occurs for , whereas a
critical collinear state occurs for . This result is at
odds with a widely-held belief that the ground state of a Heisenberg
antiferromagnet is the 120 N\'{e}el state, but it also provides a
possible mechanism explaining experimentally observed spin liquids.Comment: 4 pages, 7 figure
Endometrial Polyps:MR Imaging Features
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the diagnostic usefulness of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) characteristics of endometrial polyps in order to differentiate them from other endometrial lesions. MRI was retrospectively reviewed in 40 patients with pathologically proven endometrial polyps. Special attention was paid to the sizes, shapes, margins, internal structures, signal intensities, and post-contrast enhancement patterns. A central fibrous core, intratumoral cysts, and hemorrhage were seen in 30 (75%), 22 (55%), and 14 (35%) patients, respectively. The predominant signal intensity of the lesions showed iso-to slightly low signal intensity relative to the endometrium on T2-weighted images in 36 (90%), low signal intensity on diffusion-weighted images in 32 (80%), and strong or moderate enhancement on enhanced T1-weighted images in 28 patients (70%), respectively. In 32 (80%) patients, the endometrial polyps showed global or partial early enhancement. On dynamic study, rapid enhancement with a persistent strong enhancement pattern was seen in 17 (42.5%) and a gradually increasing enhancement pattern was seen in 17 patients (42.5%). These MRI features can be helpful to distinguish the endometrial polyps from various other endometrial lesions
Robust Dependency Parsing of Spontaneous Japanese Speech and Its Evaluation
Spontaneously spoken Japanese includes a lot of grammatically\ud
ill-formed linguistic phenomena such as fillers,\ud
hesitations, inversions, and so on, which do not appear in\ud
written language. This paper proposes a method of robust\ud
dependency parsing using a large-scale spoken language\ud
corpus, and evaluates the availability and robustness\ud
of the method using spontaneously spoken dialogue\ud
sentences. By utilizing stochastic information about the\ud
appearance of ill-formed phenomena, the method can robustly\ud
parse spoken Japanese including fillers, inversions,\ud
or dependencies over utterance units. As a result of an experiment,\ud
the parsing accuracy provided 87.0%, and we\ud
confirmed that it is effective to utilize the location information\ud
of a bunsetsu, and the distance information between\ud
bunsetsus as stochastic information

Sardine procalcitonin amino-terminal cleavage peptide has a different action from calcitonin and promotes osteoblastic activity in the scales of goldfish
The nucleotide sequence of a sardine preprocalcitonin precursor has been determined from their ultimobranchial glands in the present study. From our analysis of this sequence, we found that sardine procalcitonin was composed of procalcitonin amino-terminal cleavage peptide (N-proCT) (53 amino acids), CT (32 amino acids), and procalcitonin carboxyl-terminal cleavage peptide (C-proCT) (18 amino acids). As compared with C-proCT, N-proCT has been highly conserved among teleosts, reptiles, and birds, which suggests that N-proCT has some bioactivities. Therefore, both sardine N-proCT and sardine CT were synthesized, and their bioactivities for osteoblasts and osteoclasts were examined using our assay system with goldfish scales that consisted of osteoblasts and osteoclasts. As a result, sardine N-proCT (10− 7 M) activated osteoblastic marker enzyme activity, while sardine CT did not change. On the other hand, sardine CT (10− 9 to 10− 7 M) suppressed osteoclastic marker enzyme activity, although sardine N-proCT did not influence enzyme activity. Furthermore, the mRNA expressions of osteoblastic markers such as type 1 collagen and osteocalcin were also promoted by sardine N-proCT (10− 7 M) treatment; however, sardine CT did not influence their expressions. The osteoblastic effects of N-proCT lack agreement. In the present study, we can evaluate exactly the action for osteoblasts because our scale assay system is very sensitive and it is a co-culture system for osteoblasts and osteoclasts with calcified bone matrix. Both CT and N-proCT seem to influence osteoblasts and osteoclasts and promote bone formation by different actions in teleosts. © 2017 Elsevier Inc.Embargo Period 12 month
環太平洋域における里海体験の次世代継承:課題と展望(その2 )
In the implementation of the "United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021–2030)" declared by the UN General Assembly in December 2017, the protection of fishery resources and the solution of marine environmental problems are the main themes. In the North Pacific Regional Workshop including Japan, "Satoumi" has been taken up as a keyword to solve the problems. The marine education for the children is considered to be an important point that will determine the future world, but there has not been sufficient study on how it should be done. In this paper, Part 2, presents current status of children\u27s Satoumi activity cases in Japan and compares them with those of the South Pacific on knowledge of marine resource management and environmental conservation. In the coastal areas of Japan, fishing is a playful activity for children as shown in the case of children in the South Pacific. However, the social resource management system and the declining birth rate have reduced children’s active learning in the Satoumi. Now we are trying to reconstruct the Satoumi active learning in formal education
