Perspectiva del sector financiero colombiano con el TLC y las fusiones

RESUMEN: Este artículo presenta algunas reflexiones sobre las perspectivas que enfrenta el sector financiero colombiano frente al Tratado de Libre Comercio (TLC) con los Estados Unidos y al proceso de fusiones y adquisiciones que se viene registrando en el sistema bancario del país. La principal conclusión es que el sistema financiero local está preparado para enfrentar la mayor internacionalización de los servicios financieros, sin embargo, se suscitan algunas inquietudes relacionadas con la pérdida de protección al consumidor colombiano en este sector y los efectos negativos del respaldo patrimonial de las filiales bancarias norteamericanas en Colombia con sus casas matrices. Así mismo, los riesgos derivados de las políticas monetarias implementadas en cada país y sus efectos sobre el mercado de capitales.ABSTRACT: This paper presents some ideas about the Colombian financial sector challenges in front of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the United Statesand a recently series of mergers and acquisitions in the country. The paper concludes that the domestic financial system is prepared to face a greater internationalization of financial services, however, there remain some issues related to the loss of protection to the Colombian consumer and the negative effects of the equity support from the American banks headquarters to its subsidiaries in Colombia. Likewise, it presents the consequent risks ofmonetary and foreign exchange policies in each country and its effects on the capital markets

El Clima Organizacional de la Fundación de la Mujer Colombia S.A.S como factor de procesos de bajo rendimiento e insatisfacción laboral

El porqué de este proyecto se ha basado en el análisis del clima organizacional en el que se encuentra el clima laboral del ente empresarial Fundación de la Mujer Colombia S.A.S. como esta se ve afectada y cual ha impactado en el entorno de sus empleados, minimizando tanto su productividad como su desempeño. El motivo del presente trabajo investigativo tiene como finalidad determinar qué factores negativos se presentan en la empresa Fundación de la Mujer Colombia S.A.S y cuáles son los motivos por los cuales sus colaboradores se encuentran insatisfechos con su trabajo diario. Se examinan y consideran las menciones, y los postulados de diversos autores, lo que permite profundizar en la repercusión e importancia de la actitud, el aspecto comportamental, el contexto, la percepción, la salud, la motivación, entre otros factores que tienen influencia en el desempeño de su trabajo. El enfoque es el análisis de la percepción del clima laboral en la empresa Fundación de la Mujer Colombia S.A.S. Utilizando la herramienta encuesta, siendo el método de recolección de información que se aplicará a todos los empleados, esto permitirá implementar algunas de estas recomendaciones, facilitándole al dueño conocerlas, analizarlas y aplicarlas para que el ambiente de trabajo sea óptimo y un Ambiente satisfactorio que se mantiene para alcanzar las metas y objetivos fijados por la empresa, procurar su mejora y crecimiento, y lograr que los empleados aumenten su productividad, satisfacción y resolución de tareas. Los resultados de la herramienta implementada darán paso a realizar recomendaciones que apoyen el crecimiento de la empresa Fundación de la Mujer Colombia S.A.S., para la mejora económica y un contexto favorable de trabajo.The reason for this project is based on the analysis of the organizational climate in which the work environment of the business entity Fundación de la Mujer Colombia S.A.S. how it is affected and which has impacted the environment of its employees, minimizing both their productivity and their performance. The purpose of this research work is to determine what negative factors occur in the company Fundación de la Mujer Colombia S.A.S and what are the reasons why its employees are dissatisfied with their daily work. The mentions and the postulates of various authors are examined and considered, which allows to deepen the repercussion and importance of the attitude, the behavioral aspect, the context, the perception, the health, the motivation, among other factors that influence the performance of your job. The focus is the analysis of the perception of the work environment in the company Fundación de la Mujer Colombia S.A.S. Using the survey tool, being the method of collecting information that will be applied to all employees, this will allow the implementation of some of these recommendations, making it easier for the owner to know, analyze and apply them so that the work environment is optimal and a satisfactory environment that is maintains to achieve the goals and objectives set by the company, seek its improvement and growth, and ensure that employees increase their productivity, satisfaction and task resolution. The results of the implemented tool will give way to make recommendations that support the growth of the company Fundación de la Mujer Colombia S.A.S., for economic improvement and a favorable work context

Landslide Risk: Economic Valuation in the North-Eastern Zone of Medellin City

Natural disasters of a geodynamic nature can cause enormous economic and human losses. The economic costs of a landslide disaster include relocation of communities and physical repair of urban infrastructure. However, when performing a quantitative risk analysis, generally, the indirect economic consequences of such an event are not taken into account. A probabilistic approach methodology that considers several scenarios of hazard and vulnerability to measure the magnitude of the landslide and to quantify the economic costs is proposed. With this approach, it is possible to carry out a quantitative evaluation of the risk by landslides, allowing the calculation of the economic losses before a potential disaster in an objective, standardized and reproducible way, taking into account the uncertainty of the building costs in the study zone. The possibility of comparing different scenarios facilitates the urban planning process, the optimization of interventions to reduce risk to acceptable levels and an assessment of economic losses according to the magnitude of the damage. For the development and explanation of the proposed methodology, a simple case study is presented, located in north-eastern zone of the city of Medellín. This area has particular geomorphological characteristics, and it is also characterized by the presence of several buildings in bad structural conditions. The proposed methodology permits to obtain an estimative of the probable economic losses by earthquake-induced landslides, taking into account the uncertainty of the building costs in the study zone. The obtained estimative shows that the structural intervention of the buildings produces a reduction the order of 21 % in the total landslide risk. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd

A Wavelet Analysis of the Dynamic Connectedness among Oil Prices, Green Bonds, and CO₂ Emissions

Wavelet power spectrum (WPS) and wavelet coherence analyses (WCA) are used to examine the co-movements among oil prices, green bonds, and CO2 emissions on daily data from January 2014 to October 2022. The WPS results show that oil returns exhibit significant volatility at low and medium frequencies, particularly in 2014, 2019–2020, and 2022. Also, the Green Bond Index presents significant volatility at the end of 2019–2020 and the beginning of 2022 at low, medium, and high frequencies. Additionally, CO2 futures’ returns present high volatility at low and medium frequencies, expressly in 2015–2016, 2018, the end of 2019–2020, and 2022. WCA’s empirical findings reveal (i) that oil returns have a negative impact on the Green Bond Index in the medium term. (ii) There is a strong interdependence between oil prices and CO2 futures’ returns, in short, medium, and long terms, as inferred from the time–frequency analysis. (iii) There also is evidence of strong short, medium, and long terms co-movements between the Green Bond Index and CO2 futures’ returns, with the Green Bond Index leading

Sustainability, Uncertainty, and Risk: Time-Frequency Relationships

This study investigates the interconnected dynamics among the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and two volatility indexes, the Cboe Volatility Index and ICE BofA MOVE Index. It examines their relationships and causalities within daily data spanning from January 2014 to July 2023. The research employs wavelet power spectrum (WPS) and wavelet coherence analyses (WCA) to delve into these interconnections. The wavelet power spectrum reveals noteworthy volatility spikes in the indexes during specific periods linked to geopolitical occurrences, the COVID-19 pandemic, and global uncertainties. A wavelet coherence analysis unveils how the DJ Sustainability World Index significantly influences the Cboe Volatility Index and ICE BofA MOVE Index across short, medium, and long-term perspectives, albeit with variations in certain periods. The empirical findings underscore the intricate relationships between sustainability and volatility indexes, shedding light on their nuanced causal interplay over time. The insights from this study hold paramount implications for policy-makers, investors, and financial institutions navigating a complex and uncertain landscape. The identified relationships between sustainability and market volatility can aid in making informed decisions. This research adds original value by uncovering the time-varying relationships between sustainability and volatility indexes, revealing their interdependencies across diverse temporal scales. Given the observed causal relationships, policy-makers and investors are recommended to consider sustainability-related developments when assessing market volatility.
