Aplicações da análise fatorial e da metodologia de superfície de resposta em problemas de otimização de processos químicos
Purpose: This work aims to show two applications of Design of Experiments to optimize processes in chemical industries.
Theoretical Framework: Among the various mathematical modeling approaches, Design of Experiments (DoE) is widely used for the for the implementation of Quality by Design (QbD) in both research and industry. In QbD, understanding the product and the process is the key factor in ensuring the quality of the end product (Politis et al., 2017).
Method: An assessment was made of the best method for creating mathematical models using Pareto graphs, factor graphs, contour graphs, response surface graphs and analysis of variance.
Results and Conclusion: In both case studies, the statistical tools proved to be suitable for analyzing the processes and were able to find the optimum process factors to guarantee the best possible response variable.
Originality/Value: Design of Experiments (DoE) is the main component of the statistical toolbox to deploy Quality by Design in both research and industrial settings.Propósito: El objetivo de este artículo es mostrar dos aplicaciones del Diseño de Experimentos para optimizar procesos en la industria química.
Metodo: Se evaluó el mejor método para crear modelos matemáticos utilizando gráficos de Pareto, gráficos factoriales, gráficos de contorno, gráficos de superficie de respuesta y análisis de varianza.
Resultados y conclusiones :
En ambos casos, las herramientas estadísticas resultaron adecuadas para analizar los procesos y permitieron encontrar los factores de proceso idóneos para garantizar la mejor variable de respuesta posible..

Objetivo: Este trabalho tem como objetivo mostrar duas aplicações do Design de Experimentos para otimizar processos em indústrias químicas.
Referencial teórico: Entre as várias abordagens de modelagem matemática, o Design de Experimentos (DoE) é amplamente usado para a implementação do Quality by Design (QbD) tanto na pesquisa quanto no setor para a implementação do Quality by Design (QbD) tanto na pesquisa quanto no setor. No QbD, a compreensão do produto e do processo é o principal fator para garantir a qualidade do produto final (Politis et al., 2017).
Método: Foi realizada uma avaliação do melhor método para a criação de modelos matemáticos usando gráficos de Pareto, gráficos de fatores, gráficos de contorno, gráficos de superfície de resposta e análise de variância.
Resultados e Conclusão: Em ambos os estudos de caso, as ferramentas estatísticas se mostraram adequadas para analisar os processos e foram capazes de encontrar os fatores ideais do processo para garantir a melhor variável de resposta possível.

How to perform a simultaneous optimization with several response variables
A problem facing the product development community is developing simultaneous solutions of response variables (to several properties) that depends on a number of independent variables or sets of responses. Harrington, among others, addressed this problem and presented a desirability function with a functional approach. Derringer and Suich altered their approach and illustrated how multiple variables can be transformed into a convenience function. This work redid the calculation performed by them using another software and made a comparative discussion of the results found
The sustainable development path for the survival of the planet and the contribution to the 2030 Agenda

The impact on the ecosystem and human life is the main topic of meetings at the United Nations (UN). To help mitigate these impacts on the planet the UN has formulated 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) to help governments and organizations develop sustainability. This research aims to identify and analyse research trends on sustainable development and propose best practices that assist industrial organizations in achieving the UN SDG. The method adopted was a literature review, which served as the basis for identifying gaps in the most relevant publications indexed in the Scopus database. From the identified gaps, it was possible to compose trend clusters. The main contribution of this study is the mapping of the sustainable development field of study and paving the way for industrial organizations to aim towards the SDG of the 2030 Agenda. As a suggestion for future research, it is recommended that case studies be carried out, to ascertain the good practices that organizations can use to improve sustainable development
Scientific research trends about metaheuristics in process optimization and case study using the desirability function
This study aimed to identify the research gaps in Metaheuristics, taking into account the publications entered in a database in 2015 and to present a case study of a company in the Sul Fluminense region using the Desirability function. To achieve this goal, applied research of exploratory nature and qualitative approach was carried out, as well as another of quantitative nature. As method and technical procedures were the bibliographical research, some literature review, and an adopted case study respectively. As a contribution of this research, the holistic view of opportunities to carry out new investigations on the theme in question is pointed out. It is noteworthy that the identified study gaps after the research were prioritized and discriminated, highlighting the importance of the viability of metaheuristic algorithms, as well as their benefits for process optimization
Identification of Research gaps on Municipal Solid Waste Management from Data Indexed in the SCOPUS Database
This study aimed to identify the research gaps on the theme "Municipal Solid Waste Management", as from the analysis of articles indexed in the SCOPUS database. For this objective to be achieved, an applied research of exploratory nature and qualitative approach was carried out. It is noteworthy that, as method and technical procedures were adopted, respectively, the bibliographic research and the literature review. The data used in the analysis were obtained from the SCOPUS database in May 2018 and treated using Microsoft Excel® software. It is noteworthy that as a selection criterion, thirty papers indexed in this base that presented the highest number of citations were analyzed. As main results, it can be highlighted that the identified gaps were grouped into eight categories. Among the categories analyzed, one can highlight life cycle assessment, with ten gaps, and tools for municipal solid waste management, with eight. It is also noteworthy that the category "municipal solid waste management associated with other methodologies" occupies the second position, along with "tools for the management of municipal solid waste, indicating the lack of studies in the highlighted areas and pointing out the relevance of the theme for the academic environ
Mapping Sustainability 4.0: contributions and limits of the symbiosis
The history of industry is marked by four industrial revolutions, and society is now in the consolidation of its fourth, which provides opportunities for sustainability, such as reduction in environmental impact and social inclusion. This article aims to identify the main authors, countries, articles, and research gaps on the theme "Industry 4.0 and Corporate Sustainability"; and to draw up a mind map with the research trends, through the analysis of the documents that are indexed in the Scopus database. Among the main trends that were identified in this article are: Industry 4.0 as a tool to support sustainability; Intersection and boundaries between sustainability and industry 4.0; Development of industry 4.0 along the lines of sustainability; Management applied in sustainable industry 4.0. The main contribution applied was the exposure of the possibilities that companies can implement, both in relation to sustainability in the development of innovative technologies, and the use of technologies to strengthen the pillars of sustainability
Estratégia de manutenção baseada em funções de confiabilidade para uma evacuadora jumbo / Maintenance strategy based on reliability functions for a jumbo evacuator
O objetivo deste artigo foi definir a estratégia de manutenção mais adequada para um equipamento de alta criticidade com base em cálculos de confiabilidade. Foram levantados registros de falhas e dos tempos para reparo do equipamento Evacuadora Jumbo. Estes tempos foram modelados pela função de probabilidade de Weibull. Os valores para tempo médio entre falhas (MTBF), tempo médio de reparo (MTTR) e disponibilidade (D) foram respectivamente 13,54 horas, 2,8 horas e 82,8%. O fator de forma mais provável da distribuição de Weibull que modelou o tempo até a falha foi de 1,7685. É possível afirmar que o equipamento está em fase de mortalidade senil. A estratégia de manutenção indicada é a preventiva
Supply chain analysis through partner suppliers: a study of a small-medium sized company in Brazil

Thus, opportunities that represent competitive advantage have been analysed and, many times, adopted. In this context, the supply chain can be a competitive differential, as it favours cost reduction and quality improvement of production resources. On the other hand, delays, and shortages of inputs in the production chain generate losses of resources and damage the company’s image with its customers. Within this perspective, the supply chain of a heavy machinery and equipment manufacturer, addressing the indicators Supplier Potential (PF), Supply Conformity Index (ICF) and Service Index (AI). The objective of this research was to identify the delays and shortages of inputs, arising from the company’s supply chain, as well as from the purchasing and parts collection process. To this end, the fundamentals of Taker ship and Management by Indicators were adopted, a ming to achieve the proposed objectives. The work sought to collect data from the root year of the analysed process so that a picture could be made of how the process happened in he beginning, in the year 2008 and these data reflect the current reality of the company 2021. The study indicated the need for a new purchasing and parts collection system that could contribute to the elimination or reduction of the identified losses. The results obtained showed the successes in the supply chain integration strategy, using partner suppliers, as well as the implementation of a Milk Run type parts collection system
